Happy Mog's Day!

What's Mog's Day? Well, it's not surprising you haven't heard of it, since it isn't an Earth holiday. It's a fall celebration marking the end of the season, before moogles enter their annual hibernation. A simple drawing of a moogle (a white, vaguely koala-like animal with small bat wings) was included in the invitation. On arrival, guests will be asked to don a large red nose, out of respect for Mog. The hosts are exempt from this, given they're the ones throwing the party and all.

Want a tour of the house? The hosts are not familiar with the concept of a housewarming party, but that's essentially what this is, and any of them would probably show you around if you like. They've just moved, but there's no sign of boxes. Rather, the bookshelves and decor seem a little sparse, their belongings having migrated from a smaller space. You may catch glimpses of a large orange cat slinking around behind the furniture. He has not yet adjusted to his new surroundings, and all the strangers aren't helping.

A catered dinner is laid out on the dining room table. (They can cook, they just... didn't.) There's also a chocolate cake waiting in the kitchen for later. It's for Loki; Sephiroth doesn't really care about cake.

The nearby back door leads out into the yard, and the fire pit. Arranged on a table are some materials one might use to create a simple effigy of someone you particularly hate. There's also a bag of marshmallows, seemingly as an afterthought.

I see. The end result must depend on the caster's ability and intent... although that can be said for a lot of things.

Still, it would make an interesting study.

A study? Of what?

A study of magic. Of its... systems, its branches. It would be a waste to live in this leyline-enhanced place, with its people openly practicing their craft, and not pick up something.

Also for that school pitch you ran on. Schools need multiple subjects of study to be well-rounded.

I would still like to do that. It's simply tricky to manage it on my own.

I understand. I am an educator back home. All of the aspects needed for a solid institution to run are... a lot for one person.

[Loki is only the second person she's told her real occupation to. It all feels so distant some days. The classroom. Her students.]

In my opinion, once you flesh out the concept-- what types of magic will be taught, who will be taught, how many could be taught at once, how long will the course of study be, the cost of tuition and so on-- you can start to allocate resources. Find personnel to handle the background processes.

The personnel part is the struggle. I don't know any other sorcerers that remain in this place.

...I admit, most of the Starfallen I know about are martially inclined. But the issue, if you were hoping to recruit from our own ranks, is the Confluences sweeping as many away as new ones coming in. There wouldn't be stability, which would make students wary and less... receptive to instruction.

Perhaps there is talent around town? They might not be as strong, but even if they have to specialize, that would be one or more areas you don't have to cover.

I'd still have to vet them thoroughly.
welcome_summer: (What a beautiful mess...)

Naturally. It wouldn't do to rush the core selections.

Asgard was a world of magic. We took it for granted.

No other world will be like that. And it's a shame. Magic is . . . special.
