( a loose lift of his shoulders, before he's looking over to the rabbit, then back to sleeper. picks up the stick, and offers it head-first over. )
Think your chompers can rip off the head? Figure roasted rabbit face isn't shit the kids want to see.
( he says chompers like he's talking to bruce's dog. because cats are cute. even if sleeper isn't technically a cat, they're cat-ly enough. )

Mind if I enjoy it, or will that offend your delicate human sensibilities?
[They say the last as if they almost expect Jason to have any left. But, well, it's only polite to not make your allies feel sick.]

( he would have been fine with sleeper just chomping it straight off if they'd wanted to. it's not as if anyone else is close enough to see it. )
Enjoy it to your heart's content.

[Sleeper has inherited a certain catlike fastidiousness, which is why they carefully prop up the head so they can carve it open more like a dish before starting in on the brain.]
Don't worry, though, your secret's safe with me.
[A pause, then.]
Do you think I should hunt some more in case you have company? There seem to be wild boar as well, but those would require a different size for me, especially if I want to bring it back.

We've got the kids, more's never a bad idea. But I'd wait 'fore getting too much. Don't want them to throw more bullshit at us to fuck us over as soon as we've got a stash.

That also means you get to keep your own ass safe outside of taking watches for sleep.
[Because Jason doesn't really need a babysitter. Water filtration and food provision are probably about as much as can be offered without too much offense taken.]
I'm able to get fresh meat for cooking, but I'm no botanist to be absolutely certain about plants. Just able to check for common toxins and such that won't agree with humans. This isn't going to be viable for more than maybe a few weeks if we want to avoid nutritional deficiencies causing problems.
[They really hope it won't be that long before they can get out of this.]

( he was not, at any point in time, a boyscout. but point being: jason knows what's edible and what's not, as long as they're normal earthly plants and not fucky alien ones--which he hasn't come across, yet, so they should be safe. the pelt comes loose, and jason tosses it off to the side before shoving the stick'd rabbit back next to the fire. he doesn't need it for anything, there's no need to keep a bit of fur around at this point. )
Don't worry about me. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the brat-crowd.
( he'd be off causing chaos elsewhere; being loud enough to get the ringleader's attention, potentially playing right into their hand on purpose depending on how that play went. jason doesn't need help, does better without the crowd in scenarios like this. but he can't say the same for the teens he's been picking up. )
An' we've got plenty of people on the outside who aren't gonna just stand by while we're all stuck. I'm not concerned about it.
( yet. )

[And that's what would bother them the most. Seeing them lose some of that innocence when they don't have to.]
The best part of being a monster is that you don't have to apologize for doing the shit that needs doing.

( with a look over to sleeper, before jason's slouching forward a little in his seat and reaching a hand over to scritch behind an ear, if sleeper will permit pets. )
I'm trying not to be a monster.
