LOOKS LIKE A LITTLE BIRDY DECIDED TO DROP ON INTO OUR COMPETITION. "KESTREL" HERE MIGHT BE KNOWN TO PREFER A GOOD OLD-FASHIONED KNIFE FIGHT, BUT HE'S GOT PLENTY OF TRICKS UP HIS SLEEVES! THINK WE'LL GET TO SEE THEM? WE'LL HAVE TO THROW SOMETHING CHALLENGING HIS WAY AND FIND OUT.

( luckily, he was pulled in while geared up; his face isn't visible, even if the white streak in his hair that's extremely telling is. the drone opens its mouth again after jason's up on his feet, and he pulls a gun out of its holster. shoots it twice without hesitation, before noting that it has no effect. his head tilts, watching it for a moment before he raises a hand to flip the drone itself off - and heads off in the opposite direction of it. whatever that fucker is doing, it's not helpful, and jason doesn't like being talked at, thank you.

there's a nice little foresty area just off of where he'd landed, which he's going to duck his way into to get the hell away from that thing. )

( what he hates worse about being stuck on a goddamn island is being stuck on an island surrounded by people he knows--or is at least vaguely familiar with. being kidnapped and forced into a competition? no biggie. being forced to with no visible way out while surrounded by a bunch of brats? terrible.

but he's managed to put together a small camp in a secluded-ish area that jason isn't expecting to last for any amount of time given how unpredictable this hellhole is, but it works alright for now, which is all he gives a shit about. he's got a knife in hand, idly chipping away at a stick he found just to keep himself occupied. there's no mask covering most his face, just the domino and the irritated scowl he's sporting as eyes focus down on his work. mutters, )

[Sleeper has been all over, and usually manages to do just fine. But they're adaptable like that. Others have more needs, which is why the cat makes a muffled sound of amusement around the dead rabbit they're carrying. Dropping it beside the fire, they glance at Jason.]

Isn't it harder to properly entertain someone who can't fully experience the drama?

[As a Robin, Tim is contractually obligated to be well-supplied even when he's snatched to a mysterious island to play death games or whatever while he's in civilian clothing. So he has some weapons, and he has a magically-refilling utility belt. That's good.

For the sake of his tenuous hold on secret identities, he's Some Kid Jason has been kind enough to help out. Definitely not a Robin. Just a wayward bird flocking to another, bigger bird for protection.]

What if they don't have eyes?

[This is the first time he's woken up on a near-empty island, and oh boy, is Accelerator not happy about it. He has no idea where he is, what's going on, and as he sits up and looks around he finds his attention is drawn to one of the drones in the air. This one is buzzing in towards him, the announcer's voice excitedly booming through the trees.]

AAAAAAAAAND ANOTHER COMPETITOR ENTERS THE ISLAND! WILL ACADEMY CITY'S #1 LEVEL 5, ACCELERATOR, WHO HOLDS THE TITLE OF THE STRONGEST! WILL HE DOMINATE THE OTHER COMPETITORS OR WILL HE BE BROUGHT DOWN BY YET ANOTHER HERO WITH THE TITLE OF 'THE WEAKEST'?? ONLY TIME WILL TELL!

[Did that thing just call him by his title? His proper title? Did that thing just mention that Level 0?

For a split second he wonders if he's home, but Academy City, for all of its technology, doesn't have anything like a tropical island. And the last place he remembers being is Central City, so....

So there's a good chance this thing is declaring who he is to a whole lot of people when he's specifically been trying to fly under the radar. Needless to say, he isn't happy.

He climbs to his feet as the drone circles around him excitedly. His hand on his choker, and a few seconds later all Jason is getting for warning is a roar as several uprooted trees come crashing his way.]

I do. I just don't want to limit your creativity.

[They consider the situation.]

I am pretty sure there are some tough predators out there. You bring the big guns?

I'll find something. Eardrums, tongue, nose. They'll have something I can rip off, an' I'm gonna rip it off.

( no need to censor himself for timbers here, he's been around junior long enough to know what to expect. jason digs his knife into the stick, leaving a sharper edge. )

Fuck up their knee caps, maybe.

Wasn't expecting the detour, so I didn't grab my bazooka on the way out.

( a loose lift of his shoulders, before he's looking over to the rabbit, then back to sleeper. picks up the stick, and offers it head-first over. )

Think your chompers can rip off the head? Figure roasted rabbit face isn't shit the kids want to see.

( he says chompers like he's talking to bruce's dog. because cats are cute. even if sleeper isn't technically a cat, they're cat-ly enough. )

( he hears a bit of the announcement. enough to register when the voice says accelerator and turn towards it. it's not a common name, after all, and then there's the whole title of the strongest bullshit that sounds like it's coming from ace himself. he's two steps towards the direction he'd heard it booming from, when suddenly the trees start fucking uprooting themselves from the ground where he's walking, and jason -

well, he knows how to manage in the middle of nowhere, but he's a city kid at heart. he looks for buildings for a split second before realizing how stupid that is, and aims his grapple gun up towards the tallest tree that isn't currently falling in on itself. shoots it off, waits until the hook's wrapped around a branch, and jumps before it even stops moving. it's fine, he knows what he's doing, even if what he's doing is hitting a branch at mach speed from a distance where he probably should have been a little more careful.

[He'd definitely want to watch? It would be entertaining if they actually are amorphous blobs, watching Jason try to find something to rip off.] I think odds are better that they're crab-ish though.

[It would be wise, in a situation as chaotic as this, to be more cautious with his battery life, but the mention of his title and that Level 0 has done wonders to set him off. He isn't thinking about collateral damage, just breaking the shit out of that drone.

Said drone is still buzzing around him, the trees having bounced off of it harmlessly. The technology, Accelerator realizes, is reminiscent of the Windowless Building back home. That thing had survived him flinging a wall at it after borrowing the energy of about five minutes of the Earth's rotation. This seems no different, just on a much smaller scale.

He's no less pissed off and he's about to dig his fingers into the bark of another tree when he hears a familiar voice and, pausing, glances over in Jason's direction. Seeing someone he knows actually helps calm his temper, just a bit.]

Oi! [His hand twitches as he resists grabbing onto the next tree and throwing it.] What the fuck is going on?!

Maybe they reform when you blow them up, and so they're immortal and that's why they've started kidnapping people as their entertainment. Because the universe gets so boring?

[Why is he pursuing this line of thought? He has no idea. It's just - something to do?]

I'd like to know why the hell I'm in a tree.

( one he jumped into, actually, but only so he wouldn't be crushed by another one. his legs are still dangling down, but since accelerator isn't grabbing onto yet another tree to throw it, jason figures he's safe to swing his legs and jump back down onto his feet.

luckily, his gear comes with gloves. no one wants tree splinters, and while his calluses are fairly well developed, they weren't built to account for swinging from trees like tarzan. )

Leave it. 's only there to antagonize you. ( the drone, he means. ) It'll leave when you start boring it.

I'll find a way. Got a guy back home who goes by Clayface. Near impossible to kill, but you can water 'em down enough and move all his little bits far away to keep him from regenerating.

( which he suspects tim already knows, but. he's throwing a grin his way anyway. )

[His hand wavers, but ultimately he decides it's probably better to listen to this advice. Instead of going for the tree, he moves to switch modes on his choker, leaning on his crutch (which thankfully came with him) and dropping his hand.]

[He isn't happy about it and the drone gets a sharp glare before he turns his attention back to Jason.]

What the hell is this? We're not in Central anymore, right?

[Sleeper considers the head, then rather than expanding their jaws to do the decapitation, they instead extend their claws into knives to cut it off, leaving the neck and other cuts intact.]

Mind if I enjoy it, or will that offend your delicate human sensibilities?

[They say the last as if they almost expect Jason to have any left. But, well, it's only polite to not make your allies feel sick.]

( thanks, because he didn't want to go swinging even more. jason's done with that. he's done it once, once was enough. he unhooks his grapple from the branch to save it rather than cutting it loose as he might have in the city, where he's got extras. shoves it into his pocket, before swinging his way down and off the tree. if he lands in a crouch that could be compared to a superhero pose - well, that's just coincidence. )

[Sleeper has inherited a certain catlike fastidiousness, which is why they carefully prop up the head so they can carve it open more like a dish before starting in on the brain.]

Do you think I should hunt some more in case you have company? There seem to be wild boar as well, but those would require a different size for me, especially if I want to bring it back.

Kestrel? [Accelerator is raising an eyebrow at that, resisting the urge to say that at this rate Jason's going to run out of names to use. He shrugs instead, there are more important things to worry about than sassing the guy.] Fine, Kestrel it is.

We've got the kids, more's never a bad idea. But I'd wait 'fore getting too much. Don't want them to throw more bullshit at us to fuck us over as soon as we've got a stash.
