( i. grand opening — mingle and drinks )
[ welcome to the opherium. open to all metas, provided youâre up to the dress code. so make sure youâre dressed to the gills with your fanciest clothes or you might just be asked to leave. youâre ushered into a grand hall. there are appetizers like shrimp cocktails and little quiches placed on large tables for you to nibble on and champagne glasses being passed around by waiters. located in the middle is a large chocolate fountain for all you dessert lovers (loki. itâs for loki). grab yourself a drink and go hit up a familiar face. ]
( ii. dance dance )
[ and of course, once the mingling and networking is done, the staff come to clear the chairs away and leave plenty of room on the dance floor. the lights go dim, casting soft shadows against the wall. slow waltzes begin to filter through the hall as gently encouragement to go find a partner, maybe hold them close, enjoy a little . . . company and more.
or maybe you just want an excuse to step on someoneâs foot. equally valid. in fact, there might be a little magic in the air that tugs you towards someone you want to be with . . . ]
( iii. star gazing )
[ the party is winding down. maybe youâre ready to go back. curl up on bed after a late night with drinks and dancing. or perhaps youâre feeling a touch of wistfulness, a need to seclude yourself after all that jazz. consider then, finding yourself a nice quiet corner on the upper levels of the theatre, where there are some nice balconies for you to collect yourself.
and there are always the stars to keep you company. ]

[Terry is not taking critcism of his speech patterns from a guy who calls criminals a superstitious and cowardly lot entirely in earnest.]
I'm not kidding about the musical. I have the whole thing memorised.

[ he grasps a flute of champagne from one of the passing waiters and takes a sip. ]

[Aside from one glaring difference.]
You mind answering a question? An actual one, no jokes.

Shoot.

[Terry had seen the wedding ring, but there were way too many options for him to think he had even a remote chance of guessing.
He hoped it wasn't Talia al Ghul. He didn't have anything against the actual Talia, but the whole Ra's in her body thing would make things awkward at best for him if Bruce's version of her showed up.]
You never got married in my timeline.

[ he wasn't expecting that question. realizes he hasn't said her name out loud since he got here, and he wasn't really expecting to react to hearing the sound of her name. his brow knits gently and he turns the ring on his finger before collecting himself immediately and continuing to walk. ]
And I never got married in mine, either.

[Terry's not surprised it's Selina. After Melanie, Bruce had told him all about her.
Bruce wearing the ring doesn't really surprise him either. Terry wasn't kidding when he'd said he'd had him figured out. Some people might scoff at the idea of Batman being sentimental, but Terry knew better.]
I'm sorry I asked then. Really.

[ he's not widowed. nor are they technically... separated? but when they got back to gotham, after he had stopped thomas and bane, after burying alfred, he lost full access to his fortune and found himself besieged again. they both agreed that their love went beyond the bounds of the title of husband and wife, and that he needed... time. to figure things out. to find out how he was going to move forward so that they could. ]
A lot has been happening back home. We [ he. ] decided it was for the best to put things on hold for the time being.
