( i. grand opening — mingle and drinks )

[ welcome to the opherium. open to all metas, provided you’re up to the dress code. so make sure you’re dressed to the gills with your fanciest clothes or you might just be asked to leave. you’re ushered into a grand hall. there are appetizers like shrimp cocktails and little quiches placed on large tables for you to nibble on and champagne glasses being passed around by waiters. located in the middle is a large chocolate fountain for all you dessert lovers (loki. it’s for loki). grab yourself a drink and go hit up a familiar face. ]

( ii. dance dance )

[ and of course, once the mingling and networking is done, the staff come to clear the chairs away and leave plenty of room on the dance floor. the lights go dim, casting soft shadows against the wall. slow waltzes begin to filter through the hall as gently encouragement to go find a partner, maybe hold them close, enjoy a little . . . company and more.

or maybe you just want an excuse to step on someone’s foot. equally valid. in fact, there might be a little magic in the air that tugs you towards someone you want to be with . . . ]

( iii. star gazing )

[ the party is winding down. maybe you’re ready to go back. curl up on bed after a late night with drinks and dancing. or perhaps you’re feeling a touch of wistfulness, a need to seclude yourself after all that jazz. consider then, finding yourself a nice quiet corner on the upper levels of the theatre, where there are some nice balconies for you to collect yourself.

and there are always the stars to keep you company. ]

[ He’ll stick to the way he’s defining them after OurPowers stalking researching metahumans online. ]

Large. Medium Loki doesn’t seem like the waltz type, and I haven’t met Small.

Small isn't the waltz type either. Medium used to be on my team, so if you need me to swat him with a newspaper for you, let me know.

[Maybe this implies he's on his own with Big Loki, whoops.]

What would you count as swat-worthy behavior?

[ There's a possibility that he would not say no a tiny bit of swatting. He did get the feeling that he was being shook up like a snow globe to see what would happen. ]

And would that even bother him? I couldn't move him at all.

[Kate holds up a hand and starts ticking the reasons off on her fingers.]

If he starts testing you or pushing you—like he's trying to get inside your head. If he lies too much. If he starts twisting the conversation around to mess with you or confuse you. If he starts dragging you off into trouble you don't want to be a part of.

[Actually—]

If he starts making you squirm at all, tell him Kate said she'll kick his ass.

I think that's at least 75% of our interactions. It's okay, though. I can handle being outside of my comfort zone, and he hasn't tried to drag me off into trouble or anywhere else.

[ He doesn't want to sanction anyone's ass to be kicked, metaphorically or not, on his behalf.

But way to make him curious about you, now, Kate. ]

I don't think anyone's offered to fight a god on my behalf before.

[Kate laughs, shrugging a shoulder.]

I'm full of surprises. Are you flattered?

Obviously, deeply flattered. Anything else would be rude, and I try to not offend people who are willing to defend my honor from their friend the very intense god.

[ The whole vibe of the offer feels like what someone would say if a friend potentially crossed a line. ]

Did you want to dance, or did the waltz rule that out?

[fledges]

I'm hard to offend.

[Sort of. Mostly. Sometimes.]

I'd love to dance, as long as I'm not bullying you into it.

Thank you for being so good-natured, but I'll still try not to do it.

[ Tim offers his hand to escort her onto the dance floor. ]

You're not bullying me. Why would you think that?

[fledges]

You weren't dancing before. And I may have been accused in the past. Unfairly and with no evidence, I'll add.

[But she takes his hand and follows.]

Waltz, then?

Waltz. But you're going to have to tell me how you were impugned as a bully for wanting someone to dance with you.

[ Tim will take the lead and guide their hands to an appropriate, polite position. He is not fantastic, but he is certainly more of a Barnaby Tucker than a Cornelius Hackle. If nothing else, he won't step on her feet and will keep to a standard 1-2-3 and slow spin. ]

It's a gala with an actual string section. Someone has to say impugn at least once.

[Kate follows along easily enough—a rich girl upbringing means too many rich girl dance classes, after all.]

Impugned, I like that. It hasn't been over dancing, specifically. Plenty of other things, though.
