( i. grand opening — mingle and drinks )

[ welcome to the opherium. open to all metas, provided you’re up to the dress code. so make sure you’re dressed to the gills with your fanciest clothes or you might just be asked to leave. you’re ushered into a grand hall. there are appetizers like shrimp cocktails and little quiches placed on large tables for you to nibble on and champagne glasses being passed around by waiters. located in the middle is a large chocolate fountain for all you dessert lovers (loki. it’s for loki). grab yourself a drink and go hit up a familiar face. ]

( ii. dance dance )

[ and of course, once the mingling and networking is done, the staff come to clear the chairs away and leave plenty of room on the dance floor. the lights go dim, casting soft shadows against the wall. slow waltzes begin to filter through the hall as gently encouragement to go find a partner, maybe hold them close, enjoy a little . . . company and more.

or maybe you just want an excuse to step on someone’s foot. equally valid. in fact, there might be a little magic in the air that tugs you towards someone you want to be with . . . ]

( iii. star gazing )

[ the party is winding down. maybe you’re ready to go back. curl up on bed after a late night with drinks and dancing. or perhaps you’re feeling a touch of wistfulness, a need to seclude yourself after all that jazz. consider then, finding yourself a nice quiet corner on the upper levels of the theatre, where there are some nice balconies for you to collect yourself.

and there are always the stars to keep you company. ]

He's doing his best to cope with being just out of his depth at a party like this. It feels way above his proverbial pay grade.

"You can just kinda fit in anywhere, huh?" That's the best way he can think to say it; he's already marvelled at the younger Loki's ability to change her form. He'd seen this one turn into animals, but it hadn't occurred to him until the conversation with the younger one that they could do way more than that. He has no idea if the Loki from his universe can change form, too. He assumes the answer must be yes.

A small frown flits across her brow.

"I don't change myself to fit in, Peter, I never tend to anyway or anywhere. I'm genderfluid, and currently I am a woman."

It's not a reproving comment, more of a patient explanation as she watches him.

[tinglesense]

"Genderfluid?" He repeats. Obviously he knows the term, he's just…well, that's the difference between this one and the younger one.

"Sorry, I…uh, kind of ran into a younger you who didn't really know terms like that. I didn't wanna assume you thought about it like that either." That conversation had gotten confusing quickly, actually. Why does he keep accidentally tripping up with Lokis?

"But it's probably nice to be able to change your body and everything to match how you feel." It's a recovery, if not a great one.

[ikols]

"It didn't used to feel like a good thing, not around my family. Those were early days though, and I consider myself very fortunate now."

She nudges him with her elbow.

"I still can't stick to walls, sadly. That's quite the special ability too."

[tinglesense]

"So Thor's not good at the gender thing, huh?" He asks. He doesn't really know Thor, of course; he's heard stories and read about him, but he doesn't have much of an idea of what Thor is actually like in any universe.

He laughs a little. The idea that sticking to walls is somehow cooler than literally changing into other stuff seems pretty out there to him.

"I dunno what you're talking about. All I can do is talk to computers."

He knows that's bullshit, and he knows that she knows that's bullshit. But even if he's absolutely terrible at the secret identity thing, he still tries.

"He's ... fine. Odin is the most accepting of that sort of stuff, strangely enough."

The look she gives him when he denies his spideriness is patiently amused.

"Ah, my mistake."

[tinglesense]

"Whoa, really?" Peter doesn't know much about Odin, really, but he wouldn't expect him to be super chill about his genderfluid kid. It's nice to know, actually.

He's quietly relieved when she doesn't needle him about the powers thing. Younger Loki isn't as good at the whole separation of identities thing, though whether that's on purpose or not, Peter isn't entirely sure.

"I can show you sometime, if you want," he says with a small smile. "It's a new thing, y'know, only happened after I fell outta the sky into Kansas or wherever."
