( i. grand opening — mingle and drinks )

[ welcome to the opherium. open to all metas, provided you’re up to the dress code. so make sure you’re dressed to the gills with your fanciest clothes or you might just be asked to leave. you’re ushered into a grand hall. there are appetizers like shrimp cocktails and little quiches placed on large tables for you to nibble on and champagne glasses being passed around by waiters. located in the middle is a large chocolate fountain for all you dessert lovers (loki. it’s for loki). grab yourself a drink and go hit up a familiar face. ]

( ii. dance dance )

[ and of course, once the mingling and networking is done, the staff come to clear the chairs away and leave plenty of room on the dance floor. the lights go dim, casting soft shadows against the wall. slow waltzes begin to filter through the hall as gently encouragement to go find a partner, maybe hold them close, enjoy a little . . . company and more.

or maybe you just want an excuse to step on someone’s foot. equally valid. in fact, there might be a little magic in the air that tugs you towards someone you want to be with . . . ]

( iii. star gazing )

[ the party is winding down. maybe you’re ready to go back. curl up on bed after a late night with drinks and dancing. or perhaps you’re feeling a touch of wistfulness, a need to seclude yourself after all that jazz. consider then, finding yourself a nice quiet corner on the upper levels of the theatre, where there are some nice balconies for you to collect yourself.

and there are always the stars to keep you company. ]

[ Tim leans closer and whispers conspiratorially. ]

You caught me. I’m the Man of Bats. You probably don’t recognize me without the lifts.

[ But the idea of flings makes him look uncomfortable. That’s how you end up the next It socialite, but it’s more of a female problem. ]

He does have impressive ones in those boots, I'm sure.

[ His arm is still slung around Tim and now his other hand comes up to tilt Tim's chin, a crooked finger gliding up his throat. ]

What do you like about this Bernard boy?

He’s a friend. I like that. I don’t want to start at small talk, but I don’t want to fall like I’m moving too fast.

[ Tim will crane his neck to escape the touch. He doesn’t have friends that get this touchy-feely with him. ]

He’s cute. I know you’re not supposed to judge on looks, but um. Yeah. He’s brave, maybe a little dumb because he gets in over his head. That’s okay because I like being needed. I don’t know. He makes me feel calm? Why does anyone like anyone?

[ikols]

[ Loki's smile softens and he nods. ]

Exactly how I feel about my boy, then.

You’d think it would be different with ours being a superhero and you being a god.

[ Tim gives him a grin. ]

We should do a PSA about how everyone’s the same and post it online.

[ikols]

Oh, no, I don't want to talk to everyone.

[ The network is tiring. ]

I'm happy having you all to myself for now.

For now. Because, at some point, someone's going to spot me and come over to say hi. And, if you're still being this friendly, they're going to drag me off to a corner to get all the dirt. They tell me it's an unwritten rule of friends and fam.

[ Fam, not family. His family has the good graces to just spy on each other lovingly, which is what Tim does as well. ]

I'm going to hope they're all distracted by the chocolate fountain.

[ikols]

Would you like a bit of harmless gossip to hold back from them?

[ When was that wall nearby? How did Loki get Tim backed up by it? He leans on his forearm above Tim, mischief in his eyes but it's the conspiring kind; not the mean sort. ]

How about a reason to get one over on your fam?

[ Tim gulps when his back hits the wall, suddenly feeling dwarfed, but not threatened. Remember when he thought it wasn't safe for humans to get too close to gods? This, right here, is what he meant by that.

But Loki's offering information of a sort, so Tim doesn't duck away. He will, however, maintain this distance and no closer. ]

It depends on the gossip or reason. If it's fun and harmless, and everyone will laugh when it comes out, then sure.
