I've done a lot of things I'm not proud of. Felt guilty about them.

.... Been punished for them.

Such is the cycle of crime and punishment, I believe.

Not every criminal feels that guilt though.

Some just don't care. Wouldn't it be so much easier if that was the case?

Personally, I don't find guilt to be . . . helpful or restorative. I can see the merits of it, to be able to look back on your actions. But I prefer to be constructive, regardless.

To make action out of the past means more than feeling bad about it.

Guilt is a terrible thing to feel but I guess it's helpful if it stops you from doing worse or continuing to do villainous deeds.

[He takes a breath and finally looks at Loki.]

[In an attempt to lighten his own mood he glances at the other book titles and visibly looks happier.]

Are you... looking into plays? Going to write one yourself? Or you're an actor?

Ah, not quite. I own a theatre which opened recently. I'm looking into material to host there.

[He brightens further.]

Is that so? I have a script.

I mean... I actually just finished making it into a movie back home but it could be converted into a play.

You looking to hire any staff? Stagehands and all that? Special effects? I have a lot of experience in entertainment but I admit it's mostly on film and not on the stage.

Uh. Unless you count live... um... unscripted performance pieces.

It's just... I do know your reputation but... I didn't recognize you. I'm guessing that we're not from the same world and that you're also not the Loki I spoke to through social media.

Not that I know of, but I don't pay a lot of attention to Earth these days.

Different worlds. Different times. It can get complicated, huh?

[Beck shrugs.]

But anyway, I wasn't aware you - or any of those known as Loki - were interested in The Arts.

I suppose the others are less so. But I've always been invested in the arts.

And now you own a theatre.

That's great news for me. It'll keep me out of mischief.

Speaking of which, what jobs do you have available?

You seem mostly interested in set design and special effects.

Why not pass along an application at some point?

I've got experience in a lot of areas. Like I said, I have written a script. I directed and acted, did the effects and stuntwork. For a time I was on track to becoming a highly revered and innovative special effects talent, so you could say that's my speciality. I've literally been called the Master of illusions.

[He isn't a God but does have some things in common with Loki, just in a faked way not with any real magic.]

I can create much of that for the stage as well. I've fooled many a crowd.
