ANTARCTIC CIRCLE

Monsters are nothing new to this world. While they were thought to be nothing more than legend in the pre-confluence days, the first modern kaijuu attack was recorded in 1954.

Everything people knew to be true was challanged time and time again, but it has been decades since a threat showed itself. The Guild System has kept things manageable, peaceful even. It has afforded metahumans a sense of peace and a place of belonging in a world that once viewed them as disruptive and dangerous.

And so when the reports begin trickling in about a threat manifesting at the South Pole, the senior most members of both guilds head out under cover of night. They're certain they can deal with this quickly and quietly, without placing the burden on the new metas who never asked to be brought to this world.

But when they return at dawn, battered, broken and near dead - the decision is pulled from their hands. The usual theatrics of the guilds are pulled aside as the government officials muscle their way in, taking control of the Alliance command center. Within less than an hour the message is splashed across every screen, interrupting whatever people may have been doing prior.

EMERGENCY GODFALL PROTOCOLS ARE ACTIVE.

ALL ABLE BODIED METAHUMANS ARE EXPECTED TO REPORT INAT ALLIANCE HQ REGARDLESS OF ALLEGIANCE. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. THIS IS A COSMIC LEVEL THREAT.

WITHOUT INTERVENTION IT WILL BEGIN AT T-MINUS 72 HOURS.

STRATEGY MEETING—

You’ll find no one is forcing you to attend this strategy meeting… but most of the metahumans gathered here don’t appear to have any real power to speak of. Many of them are scared civilians. One can levitate rocks, another sneezes fire. All the major guild members are in critical condition, but most are expected to pull through.

They won’t say who isn’t.

The only person left in any kind of condition to help is Chaos Gate, who holds out her arm to display the reason why: one of the Sunset Falls blossoms has bonded to her. And though she’s singed and had been exposed to risky levels of cosmic radiation, the flower itself is fine. The intel the guild leaders brought back is enough to form a plan.

The entity is from another dimension, as is the flower. And so it stands to reason that people from other dimensions would be likewise immune. Even if they aren’t, upgrading existing anti-kaijuu weaponry is their best shot at stopping the threat in its tracks.

Any metahuman who is technologically inclined is called in to lend their skills to adapting the existing anti-kaijuu technology. This is your chance to shine if you’re not much of a fighter. You have twenty-four hours to get these machines ready for combat.

They give you the rundown of the technology that powers the robots. Multiple minds working in sync, meta-energies syncing up to replicate your existing power set on a massive scale. However, as they're powered by metahuman energy, doing this for an extended period of time will be incredibly draining, so it’s recommended for each robot to have a dedicated team of pilots to trade duties. At minimum, two people are required to operate each robot.

Additionally, memory-sharing is a known side-effect of this technology. It’s strongly recommended that no two pilots during active combat be from the same world - better still if you’re complete strangers - as its possible to completely lose yourself in these memories.

You can use this time to find partners or teams - and maybe stake a claim on the coolest-looking robot, if you feel like it.

MOVE OUT —

At dawn the following day, you’re sent off. Though the atmosphere is one of hope, Chaos Gate drops her usually flippant smile to lay down the facts: you may not come back alive.

But if you don’t go? Then everyone dies. The seers couldn’t say for sure whether you’ll succeed, but those that glimpsed futures where you never left at all made it clear what that led to.

Sync up with your fellow pilots and deploy yourselves, or jump into the med bot following behind. Feel the brush of another mind against yours and the power that comes from controlling an enormous steel giant. Take this time to experiment with the powers and abilities in the real robot, not the simulation you only had a few hours to train in.

ENGAGE —

There are five kaijuu in total. Their bodies roughly shaped like a tortoise, a dragon, a phoenix, and a tiger - with the final one an unknowable mass of flesh and tentacle, protected behind a barrier. Each of them measure roughly eight hundred feet, and are leaving massive damage in their wake. Scattered across the corners of the globe, they’re moving towards the South Pole where the largest beast lays in wait. The closer they are to this destination when you engage them, the more reality seems to be break and bend around them. Space and time are fragile here; there may be some odd effects, things like gravity and time rolling backwards. These creatures bleed cosmic radiation, so it’s recommended that you try to kill them as quickly and bloodlessly as possible. This may be difficult as while they’re in possession of breath attacks, they’re more keen to engage in hand-to-had combat.

Each of them is also spawning smaller copies of themselves, which seem to be moving towards the coastlines - towards major cities, specifically.

Those who believe themselves to be better suited to battling the monster directly can engage the kaijuu outside of their jaegers. But anyone exposed to their irradiated blood will catch a doubtless disorienting glimpse of infinity, and anyone who gets wounded is likely to fall into the ocean and be lost in the chaos. Do this at your own risk.

Those who aren’t piloting can also join medical or maintenance crews, which will be teleported out to any robot crews that require assistance.

Mercifully, once the four celestial beasts are slain - their ringleader seems to lose its power. The barrier that has been protecting it has fallen. And with no defenses of its own, it goes down easily. Reality returns to normal. And exhausted but victorious, you give the signal to be teleported back home.

AFTERMATH—

It’s a brutal fight. Maybe not all of you made it back. Once the threat is clear, recovery teams are deployed to try to reclaim and revive any bodies lost in the surf.

Back at guild HQ, you’re welcomed back as heroes. The civilians are eager to know their new saviors - identifying yourself as such is sure to thrust you into the spotlight. Much of the fight has been live-streamed and so your great bravery or cowardice is public knowledge.

Deeper inside headquarters, blue-skinned representatives from the underwater nation of ATLANTIS are shouting at suited lawyers. The kaijuu blood in the water has made their home largely uninhabitable, and the combat has destroyed much of it. Are they going to get the same rescue that the surface world did? You’re welcome to volunteer to visit the rubble that was once their Antarctic settlement and rescue the seal-like selkies from the bloodied water.

IN SUMMARY...

• Giant monsters have appeared. Their mere presence is warping reality. Smaller clones of them are heading towards coastal cities.


• The heroes of this world are no match for it. The government has chosen to enact the Godfall Protocols Act, meaning all metahumans are expected to report in to stop a potential apocalypse. Not everyone has to go and pilot the robot, others can stay to defend the cities from any potential dangers.


• Player characters will be hopping in giant robots designed for two or more pilots. They can read each other's minds to operate in perfect sync. An unintended side-effect is memory sharing. You can get lost in these memories. Any action taken in memory will be replicated by the giant robot.


• After the defeat of these monsters, everyone is brought back to Guild HQ for a heroes welcome. You can sign up for your character delivering a final blow here.


• If you want your character to protest the Godfall Protocols and/or to try to disrupt anything going on, please report your actions here.
• The Atlantean people are begging for help as the robots have destroyed their Arctic cities and the blood in the water has harmed their selkie civilians. Player characters can go search for these selkies. Please report selkie rescues here.

Selkie rescue

Godzilla will volunteer to get selkies out of the contaminated waters! However, swimming in it directly will expose him to kaiju blood and have him seeing forever. He's not gonna be ready for that.

Given plans, Songbird can replicate some kind of filter, so she'll help clean up the remaining cosmic blood and help out the selkies along the way. Unfortunately, I think the pressure underwater might be too much for her to lend a hand with rebuilding there.

Otherwise, she'll be tooling around in a giant robot to punch monsters in.

Captain Marvel will stay and punch smaller monsters, but more importantly, he'll help the selkies afterwards. He'll also volunteer to help rebuild the damaged parts of the Atlantean cities, though he obviously can't do everything down there.

Aside from that when the smaller copies come closer to populated areas, he could happen to be nearby and teleport some NPCs out of immediate danger. He could do this multiple times but eventually he'll get too dizzy and have to take a break.

diana will be on the ground fighting mini-monsters and helping civilians get to safety! after the battle, once the atlanteans voice their outrage, she'll immediately volunteer to help rescue selkies (and also realize that they aren't her atlanteans, unfortunately). she'll move what rubble she can for them, and help set up temporary housing, if that is a thing they will do there. otherwise, she will ask what kinds of supplies they need, and try to persuade the guardian alliance to donate funds to get them.

Strategy Meeting

Godzilla learned long ago that sometimes, he needs to put his trust in humans – others in general – if he wants to succeed. Big and powerful as he is, sometimes an obstacle keeps brute force from being an option and while he didn't understand too much of the explanation, he got the important part: kaijus wreaking having that need to be brought down. And something about try not to make them bleed, which...well, he'll try.

The mechs and talk of piloting them is the reason he's loitering in the hangar, shrunken down to look over the machines with a snort. He's made chew toys out of such contraptions before and doesn't seem convinced it's worth trying it himself. They might do something against these clearly lesser kaiju, though. Apologies if you're working on one of the machines or examining them yourself; the big lizard's probably gonna invite himself over to inspect them with a skeptic's perspective. He might need a help understanding them. And hey, those who understand how they would could try and convince him to partner up. Goodness knows how they would perform with a kaiju as a pilot...


Move Out

It's deployment day and Godzilla's making it a point to head out early. The threats are real, they're closing in and, most importantly, they're threats he can directly punch in the face. It's been a while since his last kaiju battle, so he's looking forward to this, to a certain extent.

Granted, this means there's a kaiju charging on by, whether in Central City or other parts of the world as Godzilla starts making his way South. He won't mind playing taxi for anyone who needs a lift, but anyone gets seasick, then all he asks is that off to the side and not on his scales, thanks. Some of the newer arrivals could mistake him for one of the problem kaiju, but they could be forgiven for that, right...?

So, slight problem here. Turns out the bad kaiju are a bit more than twice Godzilla's size. Almost thrice his size. It's very rare for him to feel small at his full size, but surprising no one, that doesn't stop the big lizard. He wouldn't be worthy of the name Godzilla if it did! He can be found fighting any of the kaiju, so included are brief descriptions of what he'd do against each of them:

Phoenix: A powerful fire blast is shot your way, blocked by Godzilla using himself as a shield. He seems barely affected by it and responds with a roar. While his own flame attacks don't do much, others may notice he's aiming for the bird's wings and trying to drag it underwater...

Turtle: With no risk of drowning, Godzilla can handle most of what this kaiju can throw at him. He can rescue anyone at risk of drowning, too! His tactics are opposite of the Phoenix, where he's trying to lure it onto land flip it over to attack a vulnerable underbelly...

Tiger: With claws that can draw blood and electric attacks to stagger, this one poses a problem. Godzilla's regenerative abilities are keeping him in the fight, but he's having a hard time getting in hits with electric attacks slowing him down. He is, however, keeping the Tiger's focus on him...

Dragon: This one seems to burn easier than the other kaiju, but with one good hit, the big guy is brought to his knees with a potent poison. It's slowing his movements and his reaction times, making it harder to prepare an atomic flame to fight back. The big guy needs help here...

((OOC: If you want Godzilla as a co-pilot, we can handwave the particulars so we can use the mechs as needed. Big guy's used to tackling monsters head-on, so trouble with these guys could be a way of calling him back and getting in the robot.))

Aftermath

Mission complete! Sort of. The kaiju are dealt with, but now there's a bunch of very angry Atlanteans rambling about heavy contamination of their waters. Godzilla remembers H.E.A.T. Dealing with similar problems themselves, so it makes sense he'd try to join in on the efforts.

However, this poses a problem: by swimming through the bloodied water to rescue the selkies, he's exposing himself to it. And after a few dives, the big guy collapses, visibly distressed from the images going through his mind. He might need some help and insistence on taking a break.

[Yusei's got himself arms deep in the workings of an anti-kaiju bot when Godzilla gives a judging snfffff hard enough to rustle his hair. Thankfully, he's wearing goggles, so no hair gets in his eyes or anything like that, but it does give him pause enough to look up.

[This is his nightmare. Letting someone into his brain. For multiple reasons. There's fear over them seeing the worst of what he was and the judgement and disgust being beamed right into his brain, there's shame over some of the ways he coped, there's worry that his trauma might cross over and hurt someone else.]

[But the seers say he needs to go. They warn him of terrible visions of what will happen if he stays behind and his brain of course volunteers the mental images along with those warnings. An explosion engulfing the whole world.]

[He keeps picturing it from above, his legs in view, what it would look like if he were hurled into the air over it. Only this time it doesn't just swallow a few blocks. This time it spreads out over the whole world.]

[It's enough to override everything else. What's his discomfort in the face of billions of lives? Maybe his resistance to telepathy will protect him and whoever he winds up joined at the brain with. And it makes sense he might be one of many pieces in the victory puzzle. He knows what he's worth (next to nothing) but he's become powerful enough to give cosmic entities like Korvak a little bit of a wedgie, however brief. Given that the machines can channel powers, his might be useful.]

[So he volunteers and puts himself into rotation, hating every second of it. When it's time for his first mental link-up he nervously makes his way into the cockpit, feeling woefully under-prepared. The last time he just...jumped into something, it... it didn't go well.]

[Understatement.]

[He's the first one there. He waits, trying to re-familiarize himself with the controls, going over the simulations in his head, hands going through the motions over top the glowing projections and levers. When he hears that he's been joined by someone else, he doesn't look up.]

Ten year old me would've loved this but I feel like I'm going to puke.

[This is so much different than just fighting something himself, with his own body, and his own powers, and his years of experience doing it. He feels like he's going to have a panic attack. A bunch of precogs told him he has to prevent his worst experience, times so many times over he can't even count it, and he has to learn to pilot something more complicated than a forklift. He's had adolescent nightmares about doing this with no pants in front of math class.]

ms. marvel didn't like fighting creatures. "monsters" and the like. she had, after all, heavily revolted when cerberus dropped into the city. she definitely didn't hit dogs and believed there was another solution. and her efforts paid off. but this?

this was bigger than that. she had seen enough monster movies to know it's not that simple. "the pain has to go somewhere," wolverine told her once. you couldn't escape the hurt you give and the hurt you take on. she touches her bracelet and takes a deep breath. ]

Your design isn't half bad, but I was expecting something more old school Gamera and less Pacific Rim.

[ once she's done squirreling them away from the other kaiju, she heads out to where the larger ones are. she might run into one of the jaegers, grim-looking. ]

I can grab one of them long enough for an attack. Think you're fast enough?

[ for the most part, josh foley is a healer. he hangs back in the medbot and teleports in to haul anyone out when wounded. when not actively pulling injured from wreckage, he's doing his best to maintain an enormous healing field. ]

[ but as the battles wear on, it becomes clear that these things aren't going down easily. josh's biokinesis can do a lot - but the cosmic radiation rolling off of those things mean that he can't just flick his fingers and kill it dead.

he stands in the control center of the command bot, chewing on his fingernail. ]

Hey. [ he turns to the person nearest to him. ] You're not from 616, right? [ his eyes cut to the monster outside. ] ... I think, if I can get out there in one of the bots, I can weaken that thing enough for somebody to get a lethal shot in.

AFTERMATH.

[ clean-up is a little harder. the selkies are in a bad way and they're gonna need some healing, but joshua foley knows better than to expose his mind to anything potentially fucking with it.

so he ends up setting up a little clinic inside the Alliance HQ. Hero, villain, unaligned - it doesn't matter who you are, Dr. Foley is going to give you a thorough check-up to make sure that you're not feeling any weird side-effects... or about to sprout a weird mutation. ]

( really, it's always something. if things had been too quiet for too long, he might have gotten concerned. good to know that this place was going to come through for him just like new york, just like everywhere else.

at least it wasn't potatoes.

he sighs and sits back in his seat, paying attention even if he doesn't look like it. he wants to act like he's not going to help but he knows it is even if he doesn't know what his arrows might do against giant lizards.

he knows there are...powers but he's been avoidant of those. unsure and uncertain. but it might be necessary.

when the topic of memory sharing is touched on, he makes a face because that's just the icing on the cake. he rubs his brow. he doesn't want anyone else in his head, innocent or not. he's done with that. )

02 ENGAGE.

( arrows are just going to bounce off these guys so clint takes them but he doesn't intend to use them. he hasn't had any kind of chance to make trick arrows or anything that might cause an explosion and give the people in the fighters an advantage.

he does take a few potshots at them but the radiation they give off is strong and he knows that staying out too long isn't going to do him any good. he doesn't want to end up dead.

so, probably time to find someone that might be agree to help him pilot one of these things so he doesn't end up roadkill on the bottom of one of these things giant feet. )

03 AFTERMATH.

( all clint wants to do is lay down and try to sleep but with everything that's gone on, he knows what he has to do. he remembers thinking about this in the aftermath of the attacks in new york, how the city had been levelled and they'd just moved on, gone to another fight and hadn't help.

it's not a hard choice this time to volunteer to help the selkies. will he be much help? he doesn't know.

but he has to try. so, he doesn't even give himself an hour to rest up before he decides it's time to head out. hopefully he can do some good there. )

[ Hibiki was still adjusting to this new world, but she at least understood that the term "GODFALL" is typically reserved for SUPER huge threats, and Hibiki was not expecting something like that so soon after she arrived.

The massive robots were like something straight out of one of Shishou's action movies... and to be perfectly honest, she questioned if she should even get inside one. Fighting creatures much larger than her was something she was used to, and so it'd probably be best to stick to the comfort of her own gear, right?

"Eh? Wait, they're HOW BIG!??"

Needless to say, after seeing the size of their enemies and soundly deciding that yes, she's never fought anything that big before... she decided to get in one of the robots. ]

Balwisyall nescell Gungnir tron...

[ As she steps into the head with her fellow pilots, she speaks her holy chant and transforms into her gear. Even if she won't be fighting directly, it's necessary so that the robot can mimic her abilities... as well as keep her safe in case anything bad happens.

The robot has yet to activate, but she knows that once it does... there was something about a mental handshake or something? She didn't really understand the explanation, but she'll look over at you, her fellow pilot in this thing. ]

So... you ready?

[ She smiles confidently and reassuringly, though there is still a bead of sweat running down her own forehead. ]

[ You may have already figured this out thanks to the syncing of your mind with Hibiki's, but singing is what powers her gear, and it'll be an additional source of power for the machine that we're piloting now. So as the Jaeger approaches the massive Dragon Kaiju... she takes a deep breath, and starts to sing, music starting to play from the Jaeger itself as her backup. ]

Was it ever possible, to escape from the shadows?

[ The output of the Jaeger starts to rise, and the machinery that the machine's fists are made of start to change and grow bigger, forming large gauntlets as the color-scheme of the Jaeger starts to change into a more orange color... energy suddenly leaking out of the back of the neck, forming a scarf made of energy. ]

[ Hibiki—and by extension, the Jaeger—will stomp the ground once to get the Kaiju's attention, slamming her fists together in front of her as we start to face off against this massive world-ending thread.

As the machinery of the Jaeger's fists grows larger, rapidly upgrading itself to match Hibiki's Symphogear, a glowing label can be seen on either of the Jaeger's fists before the machinery covers it up.

[ Her song blasts out of both her gear and the Jaeger, a new holographic monitor now appearing in front of everyone piloting the Jaeger... measuring the level of "Phonic Gain" being accumulated, something that is rapidly starting to rise. ]

[3] Aftermath

[ All things considered, things went well if you consider how they were able to defeat all of the Kaijus. That being said, during the battle with one of them... let's just say that Hibiki got a bit too reckless during the battle with the Dragon Kaiju, and well... she's ended up in a less-than-stellar state.

Still, her Symphogear should have protected her from the radiation for the most part... even if she's pretty sure that at some point, she saw infinity. She's decided not to think too hard on that.

Once she escapes from the mob of civilians who are very interested in her and the way she sang while she fought (oh god, now even more people are going to know about her...), she manages to find someplace quiet to sit down...

...or actually, instead, flop down on the ground face-first and lay there, limp and exhausted. ]

HAHHHH...

Before the Action:

Well. Marvel can't exactly blame the leaders of the guilds for being overconfident. Even the Justice League made mistakes. He was a little surprised to hear that they'd teamed up to face this threat, villains didn't usually do that as far as he was concerned. Maybe the 'reformation' aspect was heavier than he'd assumed.

What really gave him pause, though, was how easily the government moved in and took over. He wasn't sure he liked that. Even when the League was the Justice League of America, the government never had the temerity to step up and take over their operations. Especially not to the point of inviting villains into their headquarters. That just seemed... Unwise.

Still, this wasn't his world, so perhaps it was best to let them run things as they saw fit. And, judging from some of the people that showed up, it might be for the best that the villains are willing to lend a hand. That suspicion only increases when Marvel's enveloped by a fireball that someone sneezed up.

Gross.

A test of the mind-sharing... doesn't go well. There were simply too many voices in the Big Red Cheese's head for his partner to handle, so he took a step back. Other people would handle the big guys, he could take care of the smaller threats.

Still, it doesn't stop him from staring admiringly at the giant robots as they're undergoing modification. Solomon whispers the rough ideas of what's going on, how they can ignore the Square-Cube Law so utterly, and expands on some of the magic used in their construction. It doesn't answer all of his questions, even the Wisdom of Solomon can't keep up with this super-science, but it's enough to leave him impressed.

Still, he's cool. No bouncing everywhere, no chattering at how amazing it all is. He'll leave that to the Young Justice crew. It doesn't entirely erase a wistful gleam from his eye as he stares up at them, though.

During the Action:

Even the smaller monsters are titans capable of wrecking a city on their own. In the numbers the true kaiju shed, they're ridiculously dangerous. And compared to some of them, Earth's Mightiest Mortal (Well, as long as Superboy had a head cold or something and Atomight was laid low...) was little more than a mosquito.

That didn't mean that every punch he landed didn't echo like a thunderclap.

Billy was loathe to kill anything, even an invader from another dimension, but he knows that if a single one gets past him, thousands could be injured or worse. No pressure. Really, the hardest part is trying to avoid their blood. Marvel's been close enough to infinity to touch it, but the clouds surrounding the Rock of Eternity had always protected his mind from the naked view of the timestream. He didn't relish an unfiltered view.

Grabbing his opponent by the tail, he whirls it through the air repeatedly before giving a jerking motion, cracking it like a whip. A final crack that echoes across the landscape and the dragon-beast falls to the ground, writhing once or twice before its impressive length goes limp at last. Marvel watches it mournfully, shakes his head, and calls up his comms. "Captain Marvel here. I've put down another of the miniature monsters, and it looks like I'm clear for the moment. Anyone need a hand? How're the big boys doing?"

After the Action:

Captain Marvel's doing the best he can to help after the fighting's over with. His idea of spinning around really fast to create a tornado to clear out the leftover radioactive kaiju blood had been shot down, a scientist rightfully pointed out that he couldn't possibly filter it out and Solomon whispered that he'd risk doing more damage to the Atlantean colonies that way.

So he found himself helping in other ways. Plucking selkies out of the polluted water to be cleaned off by professionals. Diving underwater to try to rescue civilians pinned by rubble. Assisting in rebuilding efforts. He feels like he can't do enough, especially since he wasn't there to punch the bigger kaiju before they got to this point, but... Well, he did what he could, the best he could.

He'd just have to comfort himself with that. Just like he did when he couldn't save a life back home.

He might be found mid-work or, more conveniently, taking a break and listening to the Atlanteans on the surface argue about the next place the heroes are needed. It was better to follow their lead, he figured, than just circle around the ocean and tundra aimlessly.

During the Action

Sephiroth doesn't care about the hero/villain dichotomy; they're just words, and he's been called both. He is here specifically to fight and kill things, and to delight in doing so without anyone moralizing at him. Some of them are significantly larger than the monsters he's accustomed to, and he relishes the challenge, leveraging his agility and the long reach of his sword to fell them.

There's a lull in the fight, and he flicks dragon blood from his blade, glancing over at the man fighting not far from him. He wonders if he's actually 'Captain' of anything.

"I wouldn't mind an update on their 'giant robot' plan, if anyone responds." He's not going to bother, himself. Who would he contact? He's a stranger here.

But for now, there are more 'smaller' monsters just visible up the street, so he'll start in that direction.

Peter Parker | MCU | ota

STRATEGY MEETING

Peter is hesitant to even show up to the meeting, since he's not a Guild member, but the call said all able-bodied metas, and he can't just ignore a call like that. The big snag here, though, is that he doesn't think Spider-Man is going to be hugely helpful for all of this.

But Peter Parker, complete with the ability to talk to machines? Peter himself is completely useful here. He really doesn't want it known that Spider-Man (well, his version, there's several others) can do the technomancy thing. So while sure he's got his suit on under his clothes as always, he's just Peter here working on the machines.

Catch him at a calibration console, completely absorbed in what he's doing. He's barely touching anything, though, which might be weird? He's figuring out the bits and pieces with his mind, okay, it's a thing.

Or if you're paired up to work with him on something, he might be a little distracted, but not so much that he doesn't notice you.

"Okay, so I think if you can do the mechanical upkeep, I can tell you where things go. I can…sense it, you know?"

He could also read some of the hefty instructions stored in the console but who has the time?

MOVE OUT

TWs: illusions, unreality, violence/death

Peter isn't nearly as prepared for the weirdness of actually sharing some kind of brain space with another person. He doesn't have any good way to guard against it; he can interface pretty well with the robots thank to technomancy, but that might actually be working against him here.

Also there goes his secret identity, right? Whoever ends up sharing with him gets one of two options, but either way, these are absolutely Spider-Man memories. Hopefully you can keep a secret.

A: Thanos

One memory is a fight in space with a giant angry purple guy. Ultimately, this ends in Peter's death. This is a heavy memory, mixed with adrenaline and fear and the terrible feeling of scattering into pieces.

B: Mysterio

The other memory is also not a good one. It's confusing, with no sense of which way is up and which way is down, darkness, light, familiar surroundings twisted into something else. This is Mysterio's illusion, that also ends in pain. Peter gets hit by a train at the end of this, though luckily for him, he doesn't die from this. Talk about having a hard time finding your way back to reality.

Bart wasn't about to pass up the chance to pilot a giant mecha. But needing a copilot was a big thing. Especially since his mind doesn't work like most people's. But he knows he processes at a speed even most telepaths can't penetrate, so he's not really worried about sharing more than he planned.

Peter, though. He knows Pete has secrets he shouldn't be privy to, but is, thanks to another Peter in another world. Things he keeps firmly in mind because they are not the same person, and could have differences in details and experience.

He wasn't fully prepared for the experience he got drawn into, howevel. His first reaction was to run towards the figures. There was a lot going on, but he clearly could see this wasn't what it seems.

"Peter, it's Beck. He's in your head!" Bart can't help shouting, even though he knows on some level he's not supposed to recognize either figure.

I. Engage
[Sephiroth may not yet know his place in this world, or how much from his former life he wants to hold onto, but he is a trained fighter, and he relishes the opportunity to use his skills. If things are so desperate, surely no one is going to show up telling him to rein it in.

He stakes out a position where the smaller monsters will be making landfall, and at least for a time he can keep an eye on one of the kaijuu farther out in the water. He has no interest in robots, especially ones that will allow others into his memories, so he'll leave saving the world to those who want to be heroes-- as long as they seem capable of it.

He's calm as the fight begins, but you'll soon find him smirking as he engages with the monsters. His long blade flashes in quick arcs and the occasional fire or lightning spell blasts into his enemies. It's clear he's in his element, and doesn't care about collateral damage. With all the unwanted feelings that accompanied his arrival, he's needed this.]


II. Aftermath
[Sephiroth may be strong and agile, but he isn't invincible. He wants nothing to do with celebratory crowds or rescue operations, but instead seeks quiet. You may encounter him walking the streets, sword in hand, on his way back to the Diadem Hotel.

His gait is slow and deliberate, and that's probably blood beneath that tear in his coat sleeve. He is trying to concentrate, because surely healing magic is not beyond him. He's just never cast it without materia before, and he hasn't had much cause to try.]

[ From grinning selfies in front of the odd-looking jaeger ("She's called Foxy Lady!"), to getting suited up and locked into the cockpit next to his human drift companion, to the way he fixes his phone to the wall so it can livefeed the experience to anyone browsing the network, Loki enjoys all of it. He can't respond to the comment section of his feed but occasionally he sends it a smile as his attention affords a moment to his viewers before snapping back to his immediate duties.

The fight is against the tortoise-like kaiju. Loki and his partner work together to grapple it under an arm and bring down shots on its shell, albeit to no great effect as it seems to be even more heavily armoured than their blasters can handle. What follows is an enraged kaiju body-slamming and smashing into Foxy Lady until her pilots are rattled within, swept up in a crushing hug so tight that the holograms highlighting damage flare red around Loki's waist and back as he tenses up. He and the other pilot bring their heads down so that Fox Lady's sharp muzzle stabs into the forehead of the tortoise and elicits a pained bellow of rage, freed as the monster staggers backwards in the sea.

When Loki's right leg won't respond and Foxy Lady stumbles, he yells for the daggers and holograms come to life in the fists of the pilots as they rush forward to stab sideways under the flailing kaiju's arms while it holds its injured head, very real metal daggers shunking deep into its tough hide. That gains a few triumphant barks of laughter ...

Until the tortoise's shell breaks apart and two more giant arms reach around for Foxy Lady's head, hurling her in a bodyslam that shows on the livefeed as yells of alarm as red lights frantically start blinking and Loki calls for assistance from command. Then the tortoise tosses the jaeger back toward land, and Loki's livefeed rattles so violently it terminates without warning. ]

[ Extra metahumans, as secondary and tertiary sets of pilots and maintenance crew, are strapped in securely in the robots chest. Not that it's very reassuring when the metallic scraping and screeching of the robot's parts dragging against each other when the space between them is compressed.

But it matters, when the gravity changes with the speed of being thrown and falling causing Tim and the others to strain against the belts holding them in place. Tim's head clonks back and forth between the pads on either side of his neck when the impact comes.

And then... stillness. The crew doesn't move for a few seconds, everyone performing their own internal system check. Tim judges the bizarre angle from where he's strapped to the floor and unbuckles, falling out of his seat landing at 45 degree angle with one foot on the "floor" and one of the opposing wall. A quick 'everyone okay?' gets the right number of yeses and affirmative grunts.

The pilots! Tim runs for the route to the neck, chosing the tube with the ladder inside rather than the left (seems a bit risky given the non-upright position of the robot). When he nears the "top" of the tunnel, he calls out. ]

Hey, team! Everything okay up here?

[ He has to climb out of the tunnel - the head must be pushed far back or forward in relation to the chest and neck. Tim's red-and-black suit shines under the emergency lighting, and through the lightly-tinted visor of his helmet, his domino mask is just visible. ]

The robot's a little... lazy right now.

Otto Octavius | MCU

i. strategy meeting

[Otto's an Alliance member, still in good standing, and he intends to stay that way. He arrives when he's called, before he even hears of the grave danger to the world.

After that - of course he sticks around. He can be seen all over the place during preparations: usually working on a jaeger while at least two of his actuators work on different parts of the jaeger. While it's best if he handles anything complicated himself, he trusts them to handle simple tasks on their own. This isn't too far distant from their function as designed, after all.

Occasionally, when there's a task that the scaffolding isn't quite suited for, he'll just scale the outside of one of the robots, tentacles gripping and coiling carefully to avoid causing damage. Don't worry about it!]

ii. engage

[During the fight itself, Otto joins one of the maintenance crews going out to the jaegers. He's not a healer; he's here strictly for emergency repairs to the robots and their combat systems. While technically, he's sure he could pilot just as well as anybody, his skills as an engineer are probably more useful right now.

Teleporting onto a robot, he's quick to jump into action, asking the first person he sees:]

What's the problem?

[Everything is completely hectic both here and on the ground; he didn't exactly get an error report before heading out here. Though, given how chaotic everything is, it's also possible that what you really need isn't tech support at all, but rather another combatant.]

iii. aftermath

[After everything is said and done - well, Otto barely did any combat himself. He's just fine. So it only makes sense that he go out to help with the clean-up efforts.

Given his reach, both for scooping people up out of the water and for breaking up any stray chunks of ice that might pose an issue, it also makes perfect sense that he go out on one of the big orange rescue rafts to help pick up lost or injured selkies!

So...yep, out he goes! His raft, at least, doesn't have to move around quite so much. Otto simply sits and lets the actuators spread out around them in a wide radius. When they find a selkie, they carefully pluck them up and return them to the boat; if there's no one around, Otto confirms this so they can all move on.

In spite of the fact that he's pretty much taken control of operations, at least on this particular boat, he seems tense, especially when the boat moves a little more than average.]

Please - don't rock the boat.

[He's got a life vest on, just like everyone else. He looks nervous regardless!]

Aftermath

"Don't worry," Captain Marvel says. He adjusts his weight as he lands, countering the choppy waves. Solomon's wisdom was useful for a lot of things, including, surprisingly, watercraft. Not that a little water would be a bad thing, but if there was a trace of blood in there...

He broadens his stance, steadying raft a little better. There. That ought to keep Octavius from worrying. Marvel's dripping wet, but seems unbothered by the Antarctic chill. "This area's clear, but about half a mile to the west we've got three selkies in enough blood that I can't get my hands on them without being contaminated." He gestures helpfully. "I was hoping you'd be able to use your legs to get them out, Spider-Man."

Pre-Action:

Melissa's no gearhead. At home, Fixer and Abe handled all of the technical stuff. Mostly Fixer. But they'd probably never meet on friendly terms again, a thought that burns at her as she watches the technicos swarm over the massive machines like ants.

Honestly, she was kind of surprised to see that much of a turn-out. Seems like back home, you'd be lucky to get two dozen heroes lining up to save the universe. Then again, the small number of top-tiers had blown their load and come back with their tails between their legs, so it made sense that they'd mobilize everyone they had left.

Despite her lack of talent for machinery, she was still perfectly capable of helping out. Her constructs allowed her to carry massive loads and hold them in place for the engineers to connect everything they needed to, or she could just move people around. So that's what she does, makes herself useful as a gofer and a mobile support platform.

Now if only that one idiot would stop trying to convince her to fetch a left-handed bulb wrench...

Action:

These anti-kaiju weapons are bigger and somewhat slower than she'd like, forcing her into a brawler's fighting style when not abusing her, or her partner's, powers. Fortunately, she's got some experience with that. Overall, she's a good partner, well used to working in teams.

She's also a bit more durable than most of her partners, including that schmuck who sneezes fire. (Thank God he was out.) So when the next person files in, she glances up from where she'd been inspecting her helmet and cocks an eyebrow. "Ready to play Power Rangers?"

Post-Action:

She'd had to get to the technicos for this. Blueprints for something to filter the blood from the water. (Fortunately, at least in this instance, the old saying about blood and water was true.) Once she had an idea of how to create it, it was relatively easy to get the blood from the water. Storage was going to be a problem, but better minds than hers were on that.

She couldn't hope to get everything, of course. Slugging around what must be millions of gallons of blood was beyond her abilities. But she could clear it out from around the selkies, then get what remained on them off.

It's pretty easy to catch sight of her. The ever-growing tank of liquid misery isn't exactly hard to spot. More important is the frequent loads of selkies she deposits. "That's it for that section. Anyone know if there's any more of them left?"

[ It's always nice to see a familiar face around here! Doreen shifts the weight of all the gear she's carrying onto one shoulder so that she can lift her welding mask up, and waves at Melissa with a big grin. ]

Strategy Meeting

[ As much as she'd love to get a look inside the schematics of a giant robot, a computer science undergrad isn't technically qualified to mess with the inner workings of a Jaeger. That said, Doreen has super strength and is extremely qualified to do some heavy lifting. She's all over the place, carrying an absurd amount of heavy equipment and spare Jaeger parts over her shoulders, with extra tools curled into her tail. She's even wearing a welding mask, partly for the look of things, and partly because she can actually help out with welding if she needs to.

If you requested any parts or equipment - or hell, just a bottle of water - she'll pop up next to you (even on the scaffolding, she's a great climber!) with a grin, looking slightly out of breath. ]

During the Action

[ As much as Doreen wishes they could talk things out and negotiate with the small-fry Kaiju, find some common ground and come to an understanding, well... these guys aren't listening, there's no time, and sometimes in an intense crisis situation, you just have to punch. The squirrel army is on standby back in the city, in case these guys make it into town and they need to do some civilian search-and-rescue with some demolished buildings, but hopefully it won't come to that.

Doreen throws herself into the assignment with gusto, leaping at the smaller small-fry kaiju, using her claws and knuckle-spikes to climb up their craggy backs Shadow of the Colossus-style (their hides are too thick for her to pierce, so no worries about psychedelic kaiju blood) and then trying to KO them with a full-strength punch to the head. Her success rate is about 50/50, Doreen spends half her time getting tossed into the ocean or onto the docks, but she always bounces back.

Aftermath

[ Ooookay, the fight is done, and she... she needs a breather. Yeah. Doreen is drenched and pretty banged up, and while there's some blood on her hands from the knuckle-spikes, none of it is kaiju-blood. She's just gonna sit on the docks for a while to catch her breath before she heads to the medic tent to get some disinfectant and bandages, if anyone needs her for Atlantis clean-up, it'll have to be after she's had a nap! ]

[Otto, for his part, is completely fine! While he'd joined the repair crews teleporting in and out of various robots, that role mostly kept him out of the fighting proper. By the time he was needed, the damage had already been done. A part of him wonders if he might not have done more good elsewhere - he can fight, even if he doesn't enjoy it. But he's not a superhero or a solider, he's a scientist. There's nothing wrong with acting like one, right?

He's lingering now to help with the clean-up. The actuators were specifically designed to handle dangerous materials, and now there's plenty of that floating around. But, seeing a familiar head of red hair sitting on the docks, he decides he can take a short breather. She may hear him coming before she sees him. Walking on the actuators is a luxury he rarely allows himself, as worried as he usually is about scaring people, but he's definitely overdone it with his back today. Frankly, he needs the help.]

Squirrel Girl. [It sounds ridiculous, he has an expression like he feels ridiculous saying it, but she's in costume and Otto does understand the importance of these things. So "Squirrel Girl" it is.] Is everything alright?

Darth Nox | Star Wars: The Old Republic

I. MemShare: A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
[CWs: Mass murder, mass mind control, human sacrifice. Ziost was a planet-wide massacre, and anyone stuck in the memory will share Nox's ability to sense all of it.]

Nox had been so sure that he would have been able to keep certain memories locked down. He'd keep them isolated and hidden away so deep that not even this oversized droid brain would be able to find it.

He was wrong.

He knew this because he knew exactly where he was standing now: It was the ground floor of The People's Tower. On Ziost. What's worse, it even looked--no, felt real. Regrettably, anyone else forced to relive this moment with him would also share in his connection to the Force. Something they would most likely deeply regret once all was said and done. Even now the air would feel heavy with the unmistakable suffering of millions, while the distant sound of explosions and the distinctive stench of burning flesh meant that the killing was continuing unabated despite the Empire's efforts to avert this unfolding disaster.

For his part, Nox wasn't doing much to reassure anyone stuck here with him. At some point, he became aware of just how shallow and shaky his breathing was, and from there it began to dawn on him that this unexpected return might be causing him to experience something new and unfamiliar. Eventually he'd slowly raise a hand in front of his face and hold it there, watching it tremble with a strange mix of surprise and disgust. If he didn't know any better he'd think it was fear, but all of this had already happened before.

So why was he so afraid?

II. Engage

Anything less than twenty feet tall was easy enough for Nox to deal with. His own galaxy was rife with enormous local fauna that would love nothing more than to make a meal out of someone, so if anything he was feeling just a little nostalgic when it came to dispatching small fry. Whole packs of them could be dealt with in short order as the Sith disappeared and reappeared every few seconds, moving from one adversary to another and dispatching them with either a well-placed stab through the skull or the heart. Anything much larger than that, well, that required a bit more effort.

His saberstaff could cut through just about anything, but he was still limited by the length of the blades. Rather than avoiding larger creatures, however, he just changed up his tactics. The 60+ feet tall beastie he was currently dealing with, for example, required completely different tactics. This particular oversized cat (or under-sized tiger kaiju, depending on one's perspective), for example, wasn't something he could just cut down. Even worse, it was smart enough to learn from watching Nox kill off the smaller creatures up close and had instead elected to fire a jet of strange, blue-green flame at him from a distance.

That posed something of a problem, because if Nox tried to get out of the way those same flames would continue right on past him to incinerate anyone not safely sheltered indoors. And there definitely weren't many buildings still intact this close to the waterfront. For the time being he was holding it at bay, projecting a force barrier that deflected the flames skyward and away from anyone that could be behind him, but this wasn't something he could keep up forever. Even if he could, he needed both hands to maintain the barrier and had no means of counter-attacking the creature trying to burn him alive.

It also meant he had no means of defending himself from any other enemies. Like, say, any of the mini-kaiju he could sense using the nearby alleys and side streets to circle around behind him while the larger one kept him occupied. This...could be bad.

As he felt the smaller creatures getting closer--with enough purpose that he could clearly tell he was the center of their attention--he began to frantically scan the area for anyone who could jump in and assist. If it came down to it, he'd have to drop the barrier and save his own hide for no other reason than trying to contain these creatures had left them shorthanded enough as it was, but he'd greatly appreciate it not having to come to that. And so would any of the people behind him still making a mad dash for whatever shelter they could find. That meant he'd have to resort to the last, most desperate tactic: Shouting at the top of his lungs for anyone who happened to be nearby.

"WOULD SOMEONE GET THIS DAMN THING OFF OF ME ALREADY?!"

Well, no one ever said he needed to be polite about it. Given the circumstances, it'd probably be more unsettling if he did ask nicely.
