I. One Man's Trash is Another Turtle's Treasure

It's always difficult to start from scratch. Difficult but not impossible. More annoying than anything else, really, but certainly not impossible. Having been at square one before, Donnie at least knows what he's in the market for and has a pretty good idea of where to look.

Well, so to speak. He's still relatively new to Central City but finding a junkyard isn't difficult when you have access to the internet!!!

Dangerous? Maybe. Profitable? Hopefully! Either way, the turtle is not planning to go back to the apartment empty-handed. He heads out early since it's easier looking through things when it's daylight, and in his experience junkyards are usually pretty devoid of visitors. Usually.

Purple may not be the most inconspicuous thing to wear but at least he's pretty good about being quick and quiet as he sneaks in.


II. Location, Location, Location

It may be disgusting but the sewers are nevertheless the perfect place to hide and get around in the city. In this instance Donnie's looking more for a hideaway than means of travel, but either way, it's still very clear to him that these aren't the same sewers as he's familiar with.

Sure, Leo had said he'd help look for places, but with excess free time and a lot of the projects he wants to work on hinging on finding a better place to do so, Donnie figures it can't hurt to do some location scouting too. Anyway, he's a ninja. He can take care of himself..!

The turtle errs on the side of caution for his sewer spelunking activities. The way he enters is never near the area he wants to check out, most of his traversing done underground as he scopes out tunnels branching out from the heart of the city. Of course, he's only one turtle, and while the sewers here probably don't run into abandoned subway stations or a maze of forgotten tunnels like New York, it's still a lot to poke around.

He's also unused to the idea that maybe there are other parties possibly interested in moving unseen in the sewers.


III. Alien Skylines

If someone's keeping an eye out some evenings, it wouldn't be terribly hard to spot the strange neon violet flares as something zips up along the length of one of the taller buildings.

Central City will never be New York. That's been established early on, but it still manages to make Donnie homesick every time he manages to get a good view of the cityscape from above.

The rooftops aren't exactly quiet but they allow just the right amount of ambiance that you can still think about things without a sensory overload. And there are a lot of things to think about. How to sneak into school of all things, how to not potentially short-circuit your own brain by accidentally plugging into computers somehow, how to unravel this Confluence nonsense, how to get your brother home safely... The list just grows and grows.

If Donnie's not leaning against the ledge staring out at the rest of the city or suspiciously eyeing the skies for any signs of raining people, then he's settled against a wall, messing around with his phone or tapping at a projected interface over his left forearm.

"Yesssss~"

Donnie certainly won't admit that he's equally curious to see what all Leo's picked up, even despite how hideous some of those had been. What he knows for sure is that there won't be lack of entertainment between the two of them.

"I've lived with you all my life, I think I have a pretty good idea as to what your fashion sense entails," he smirks, ducking into his stall.

[faceguy]

"Oh, so you agree that it's incredible."

He gets a smirk back before Leo disappears, throwing on his first outfit, which involves a very sparkly tank top and leather pants. He's going full out on the very first one, hope Donnie is ready to be seen in public with him.

He also spends some time turning off the hologram so he can see how he actually looks in this thing. If anyone sees green feet under the stall door, well, they can't prove anything.

"Make that an adverb and insert alternative adjective of choice. But we'll let the clothes do the talking."

They're in sync mentally when it comes to that idea. What's the point of getting clothes for yourself when they only look good while you're wearing someone else's face??

Even Donnie's flashier choices aren't nearly on the same level as Leo's, but he's still not without a few bright pops of color. Possessed of at least some mind that he'll have to be seen in public with these, his first selection is much tamer by comparison (but then again, look who's being put in contrast), a black button-up with a slightly shiny purple vest over a pair of slacks.

“Incredibly awe-inspiring? Haha, thanks, I try.”

He bursts out of the room, back in Leo Jitsu mode, though if this area doesn’t get too crowded he’s going to stop bothering pretty soon.

For now he does the Shave and a Haircut knock on Donnie’s door.

"Coming~"

True, he doesn't need the prompt but they are both nerds (no matter how much they might protest being called such) and while Donnie doesn't bust out of his stall he does step out with flare.

He is trying to look super serious (okay, overly serious) about this but who is he kidding? As soon as one of them cracks a smile it's over.

[faceguy]

Leo looks back at him seriously, even though he currently looks like a living disco ball. He'll probably break any moment now, but he's at least trying not to be first this time.

"Ooh, black slacks, black button up, classic, classic... but with the purple vest to add a little flair. Not bad, not bad... but check me out."

He spins and the sequins catch the light and bounce off it. He really is a disco ball.

[purplexing]

"-knew I should've grabbed some shades," Donnie grimaces, shaking his head at his brother's predictable gaudiness. He leans against the side of the stall door, smirking.

"Flashy as one can expect. And here you were unimpressed about that option on my tech-bō."

[faceguy]

“Uh, because your tech-bo isn’t me looking totally fab.”

He spins again and then snorts. He’s cracking for sure.

“Come on, Dee, your turn to work it.”

[purplexing]

Donnie gives an incredibly exaggerated sigh as though being greatly put upon with that request.

He pulls himself away from the door but in the next breath he stands in contrapposto, jutting out his chin before he shifts positions, pretending to dust off his sleeves. Turning, he directs a look over his shoulder at Leo, arching a brow way up high.

[faceguy]

He can sigh all he wants but Leo knows he's loving this too.

"Yeaaah! Wooo!"

Leo does some very exaggerated cheering, pumping his fist. They are absolutely going to get weird looks. Does he care? No.

"I don't know, though, I still think it's a little too stuffy. You can do better."

[purplexing]

Embarrassed? Not at all. Donnie doesn't really care if they're getting strange looks- this is what they do and Leo's holding up his end of things as can be expected. The purple-clad turtle snorts, nearly letting a laugh slip. Instead he sucks in a breath to give one last preposterous pose.

"I know, I know. I just wanted to ease into things, you know? 'specially with this going on," he says as he gestures vaguely at his face. He pauses, then looks slyly at his brother.

"Round two?"

Ah yes, the this going on, that is, almost-April's face. Seeing that particular body doing Donnie's ridiculous posing is one of the funniest things Leo has ever seen for sure, and he's just barely holding it together.

But they've got more to go!

He grins back. "Round two."

Off he goes into the changing room! What monstrosity will he come out with next...?

If nothing else, Donnie knows Leo will definitely not disappoint. He ducks back into his own stall even as he goes through his mental catalog of what all he'd pulled from the racks.

Not that he has anything that would ever outdo Leo, but Donnie likes to think he has taste when it comes to fashion. He deactivates his holodisguise because if it doesn't look good on him first, then why even bother!

Leo does the same on the other side, taking a look at himself in his latest disaster fashion choice before he opens the door again, back in human form.

It looks like he's stepped straight out the 70s' because the pants are a beige and navy paisley print, with a navy blue tank on top.

But get ready for the best part...

He also has a matching jacket, currently slung over his shoulder.

At this rate he just needs some platforms and sunglasses... Wait, he already has the sunglasses.

Donnie steps out a beat later, not at all because he was practicing posing.

While Leo went 70s, his outfit looks like a flashback from the 80s, from the ripped jeans to the loud, geometrically patterned shirt (with a healthy dose of purple, of course) and a denim jacket to top it all off.

No shades, but he does tweak his glasses up as he slides a look over at Leo.

They are aggressively retro. It's like they just stepped out of 1984.

Leo knocks his own shades so he can give Donnie a look over the top of the frames.

"Alright, not bad, not bad. But can you do this?"

Let him strut down to the three-way mirror and then do a dramatic turn. He even flips the jacket out as he does it.

[purplexing]

Watching him, Donnie lifts his hands for a polite golf-clap. "Okay, looking smooth, I'll give it a four-point-five. Now watch and learn."

He walks himself over to the mirror not terribly unlike Leo had a moment before, pausing to do a few poses by the mirror before he does a three-quarter turn, thrusting a hip out as he sets his hand there. Giving himself a second or two, he finally turns completely, popping the collar of his jacket.

A 4.5 out of 4.5? What an odd ranking system! (Yes, this is what he's going with.)

But dang, Donnie is pulling out all the stops this time. With the collar pop too!? Leo returns the golf clap.

"Alright, alright... not bad. Those poses were flashy; someone's been coming up with new material."

He also likes the ripped jeans unironically.

Even with only themselves to judge, the competition's always been strong between them, but without anyone else to really be moderating, they eventually seem to end up feeding off each other's energy.

Donnie smiles crookedly at Leo's verdict, folding his arms. "I figured I needed to up my game for the occasion."

[faceguy]

It comes with being the two most dramatic people in the family; they work each other up. (Maybe this is a trait they got from Splinter.)

"Well anyone would if they knew they had to stand next to me."

So saying he pops his hip and tosses his imaginary hair/mask tails.

[purplexing]

Eyeroll. Dramatics, what?

Donnie tosses his head as he shift his stance exaggeratedly, as though Leo's comment alone prompts another pose-off.

Which it apparently does.

A couple of shoppers decide to browse another section of the shop because clearly they can't handle the Twins' excellent tastes.

[faceguy]

Those other shoppers are simply not cool enough to hang with them.

If it's a pose-off Donnie wants, it's a pose-off he'll get! Leo does his own posing back, throwing a hand in the air and turning his face one way and then the other like he's showing off for a camera.

He'll start vogueing any moment now.

[purplexing]

There is little more urging necessary on either side by that point. As Leo picks right up on that cue, Donnie smothers a grin and turns, shrugging his jacket off from his shoulders before setting his hands on his hips.

Once Leo starts voguing nothing is going to stop these two, short of a bad playlist.

[faceguy]

Donnie going along with his antics is fully expected. Or is Leo going along with Donnie’s antics? It’s impossible to know anymore.

Leo puts on his own jacket in the most dramatic fashion possible, tossing out his arm and tugging the fabric on dramatically. And now that his hands are free it’s vogue time.

They have basically turned the dressing room area into their own personal fashion show.

Wasn't that the plan all this time? They're never leaving the store at this rate. The store employees can only hope the two actually buy something by the end of it.

Now that they've gotten past the preliminary act, Donnie's matching Leo in level, pose for pose. The two are absolutely shameless, unfortunately for anyone else in the store. He doesn't care though, they're having fun, and it's not after-hours when places are technically closed.

"Hang on, we need to archive this!" Donnie proclaims, digging out his phone.
