[Some are bound to notice something off about Sephiroth. It's unusual for him to miss meetings or show up late for work--but not so unusual that it's never happened before. This world has its stressors, and maybe he's just going through something again.

During the same time period, Fantastic has been making news thwarting a small rogue's gallery of fresh new villains. But apart from "Shadow Flare" being pretty tall, it isn't the natural conclusion to think that Sephiroth might be behind the mask. One, he's always professed a confusion and even disdain for costumes and alter egos. Two, all of the fights are happening in or around Central, and Sephiroth only travels there when borrowing Loki's teleporter. Absolutely no reason to connect the two.]

[Loki is here, no matter what. Loki noticed something was wrong and helped him. Things aren't at all what they used to be.

Sephiroth reaches up to take one of Loki's hands.]

...I want to go outside.

[ loki blinks, but nods, slipping his hand with sephiroth's. ]

Let's go then.

[Sephiroth retrieves his keys on the way out, not because he needs them to open the door from the inside, but it's a reassurance. It's reassuring to have the power to walk through a door.

And to see the sky. He's just going to look up at it for a few minutes, holding onto Loki's hand.]

[ loki doesn't say anything. sephiroth will talk to him when he's ready. ]

Is it... Am I still compromised?

[Loki said he had a name. Sephiroth can remember something of what started this. But those other gaps are still there. He doesn't know what he's been doing.]

[ he shakes his head. ]

No. I managed to completely remove it. I can go back in if you want.

[Sephiroth glances at him uncertainly. Go back in...?]

...to make sure?

[ he nods. ]

To ease your mind.

Whatever you need of me.

If you say you removed it, then I trust you.

[ he smiles faintly, with a hint of pride. ]

I did.

[unkindled_madness]

[Sephiroth nods.]

[ his smile deepens, pleased. ]

[Sephiroth watches him, taking in that smile.]

...you seem relieved.

[ loki huffs! ]

Of course I'm relieved! You scared me. With keeping things from me and I didn't know if I could — [ he falters for a moment, looking away. ] — if I could save you.

...I'm not used to having anyone worry over me or... come to my rescue.

[It makes sense, of course, given their relationship, but it's no less a marvel.]

I know that.

[ which is why even though it stung when sephiroth pushed him away, loki didn't lose his focus. he didn't let his doubt win him over. ]

I'm just glad I could.

And I'm glad that you were here.

As you should. What would you do without me?

I'd prefer never to go back to that.

[ he squeezes sephiroth's hand. ]

I'm here.

[Sephiroth grips his hand in turn, nodding.]

I don't know why I'm thinking so much of...... when I was small.

[dothelokimotion]

It's probably because you felt helpless.

[unkindled_madness]

Mm.

[Helpless... Something was done to him and he didn't even remember it.]

I didn't look at your memories.

[ though he has some from the other sephiroth when they melded. fire and hatred. a burning need for his mother. and underneath it all, a drive seemed alien. ]
