( he watches the way kyle dismantles the dome. mentally noted, as always.

another glance to the other, he starts walking again. one hour. )

Just keep up.

( and, as he says that, he walks towards a particularly dark shadow there in the alleyway... and disappears into it. completely. there's a chance he might be screwing with kyle. )

[ kyle shouts after him. ]

Don't think I won't come after you with a flashlight!

[batsymbol]

( high above the building there in the alleyway, bruce appears on the ledge of the roof and looks down to where kyle is in on the ground. cape curling around him from a breeze that blows by, he sighs... maybe after the very faint and very fleeting smirk that was there on his lips. no witnesses to it though, so. )

Stop dilly-dallying. I told you to keep up.

[torchbearer]

[ kyle mutters under his breath. ]

Couldn't have been the Wonder Woman team, no we all get stuck with the uptight paranoid Bat-people.

[ he flies up to where bruce is with ease though he tones down the glowing effect the ring gives him. ]

[batsymbol]

( one man dressed as a bat and another that glows like a green nightlight. seems about right.

a glance to kyle once he joins him up there, he gently drops down from the ledge of the rooftop and continues across it, boots a little heavy as he goes. )

Let's get this out of the way. You know some version of me, I don't know any version of you. If you any issues with whatever version you know of me, I'd rather you take it out on me now so we can move past it.

[ kyle whistles. ]

You must have had a rough landing here.

[ he can picture it easily. with all the robins and jasons around. it must have been messy. come to think of it, jason hasn't said anything. kyle will wait until he brings it up. ]

Like I said, we're coworkers. We've had bumps in the road, sure. But it's nothing we didn't work out.

[ the tower of babel stuff . . . well, kyle's already put that behind him. ]

( it seems from the second he made himself known, nearly every single person here who has some sort of connection to him and batman had sought him out. it's been... something he's still trying to adjust to. figure out. especially considering it's just him where he's from, save for alfred, who isn't here. ironically.

glancing to kyle, he keeps going. )

Good. I don't have time to deal with any sort of misplaced grudges.

No, I can't imagine you do.

[ it wouldn't be very pragmatic of him and bruce has always been staunchly realistic. still, he wonders. all those people with history and emotions . . . it would have turned anyone's head a little.

kyle remembers that a little. when hal died. ]

Still. It must have been a lot.

( being tailed, fought, and even stabbed by those who are, apparently, ones he comes to take in at some point and look to him in ways that he looked to his own father once upon a time, is not anything he could have possibly been prepared for and he still doesn't know what to do with it. how to navigate it. or if he even should.

if he's tired, it's not just from the constant go mode he's been in since arriving here. )

I'd rather see if there's any truth to Joker being here or not.

( because that's easier for him to deal with. unfortunately. )

It's true.

[ that much kyle can confirm. ]

He made a broadcast in winter. But after that, radio silence. Nothing on the streets or anywhere else.

If he's here, it's only a matter of time before he gets bored.

( that's usually how it goes with him. )

Bored or just waiting?

[ kyle's fought the joker. he's been hit with the gas. ]

I get being pre-emptive, but he is the Joker.

I'd rather find him before everyone finds out which one it is.

( coming up to the ledge of the rooftop, he steps up onto it, staring down to everything below them, cape flowing in the breeze. )

Where are you stationed?

Newark. Not far.

[ by kyle's standards. ]

By yourself?

( he's still looking down. )

[ he shrugs. ]

Pretty much. I run solo most of the time.

[batsymbol]

( that gets him to eye kyle. )

Most of the time.

[torchbearer]

I'm the only Green Lantern. The last, so to speak, for a while.

[ the rest have come back, but the moniker sticks to him, even now. ]

My territory is space. Most superheroes on Earth don't spend a lot of time in space. So it leaves me on my own.

[batsymbol]

( that's rough, buddy. )

Guess we didn't meet in space then.

( him and the other bruce he knows. )

[ he chuckles. ]

Kind of. The Justice League Watchtower is in space and I ran into you there. We met on and off otherwise. Sometimes in Gotham, sometimes just dealing with the latest emergency.

[batsymbol]

( it's difficult for him to wrap his head around working with a team. never mind a robin. )

Is that the plan here?

[torchbearer]

[ hm. kyle deliberates on that for a moment. ]

It's not mine. If the League was here, maybe it'd be different but forming that kind of structure isn't really my thing.

Like you, I work alone. Or ask for help when I need it. You're all about plans and contingencies but I . . . only care about helping people.

Who else is part of this League?

( give him names. even if he doesn't know them, having them for future reference in case they show up is useful. )

Uh, let's see . . . [ kyle ticks them off his fingers. ]

Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Plastic Man, Martian Manhunter, the Flash, me . . . We do get new members now and then.

There's a Flash here.

( but he puts those names to memory. or can look back on them later since he's got those contact lenses in and all. but. )
