[ if you are trapped in arcadia and musing on a way to take down the authority and bust your way out, then you may notice a green magical butterfly in your vision. it's beckoning you. somehow. don't ask how magic works. you end up following it through arcadia until you set into a room.

a room unlike those in arcadia. it's all golden with red drapes and torchlights. even the view from the windows seems starry, unlike anything on earth. and there's loki, dressed in a black suit, tapping his foot impatiently. ]

Finally. Let's get to business, shall we?

[Hitori is visibly startled when she enters the room and is greeted by Loki. And then she sees the other strangers in the room and she immediately wants to leave - to go home, or at least go back to the quiet little room she's made for herself in Arcadia.

But at the same time, she does want to know what's going on here in Arcadia, and she's afraid that if she leaves now, she'll never find out. So she gives a(n overly) polite bow and mumbles an inaudible greeting to the group. And then, true to her awkward teenage nature, she finds her way to the corner of the room and begins fidgeting with her broken guitar.

There's no way she'll actually be able to fix it here without the proper tools (and probably a youtube tutorial or two) but she's hoping that if she pretends to be doing something, no one will ask her to actually do anything in this meeting.]

[ vision gives a small friendly wave when hitori introduces herself, but stays in his seat to listen to what the other schemers have to say.

when they’re deeper in conversation and vision feels like he can punch out—he can hear them from a great distance anyway—he finally rises and heads to the window nearest hitori, where he peeks outside first before he says, ]

May I ask what’s wrong with it?

[Hitori jumps a little when this man speaks to her. She really wishes she had caught his name, but unfortunately she's been off in her own little world.

Oh god, a stranger is talking to her. This is simultaneously kind of what she wanted to happen and an extremely frightening thing she didn't expect. It takes her a moment to actually process the question he asked, because she's stressing so much about the fact that she's being spoken to.]

O-oh! U-um, it's the tuning peg o-on my guitar. I-It's kind of old, and I broke it on my last performance.

[She holds the guitar out for him to see. It is an old guitar - a '68 Gibson Les Paul - and it's clearly seen some use in its time. But at the same time, it's also clear that the guitar has been cared for.

It's actually a relatively simple fix. It just needs a replacement peg and some super glue, but Hitori has never actually had to do her own repairs before.]

D-do you know anything about guitars, s-sir?

[vaudevision]

[ vision seems surprised that hitori holds it out for him to examine to begin with, but he doesn’t squander the offer. he steps closer and offers her a brief warm smile before he leans down, skimming a brief and light touch over the glossy wood. his processors approximate the relative condition of the guitar, then hone in on the year, make, model. ]

Someone close to me is a bit of an aficionado.

[ and with tony stark’s affection for classic guitars comes helpful relational information, suggested readings, diy videos for upkeep that whir instantly deep in vision’s mind—and then, at last, diagnostic information. he draws his hand back. ]

So ... a thing or two, yes. [ a pause. ] I think I can help.

[Don't mind the nervous looking guy here. In most ways he looks, well, normal. Very normal. Completely normal. Which he is. Except he keeps scratching at his arms because wow man, too many people with powers here.]

I'm Mark, and I'm not sure how useful I can be here. I'm a power mimic. Sometimes, when I'm around other people with powers, I can sort of do what they do. Not magic, but sometimes other stuff. And I guess I'm here because the Boss here knows I'm not quite down for any of this. It was how things were messed up back home, it was like this. But never so... clearly done. Like, they kept people like me secret?

Anyway, um, I'm mostly useful if we need to compound force I guess? And I look pretty harmless, though the guards won't always by that. I was specifically picked up before they started forcing people in here.

[ oh! well, here’s another man who’s usually nervous. he’s slightly less nervous than usual, though, as he’s currently in situation-scoping mode. so mostly he’s a six-foot-a-lot british guy offering a chipper wave across from mark after he introduces himself. ]

Good evening, Mark. I’m sorry to have to ask, but I just arrived in this universe myself—who’s this “Boss”?

[atypical_echo]

[That's a very chipper wave, sir. Are you sure you're okay? This is sorta jail and all of that. Well, there are other words that Mark could use too, but it always feels like people look like him like he's crazy when he uses the terms, and he hasn't done enough research to know if that's even in the history of this world and... He rambles even in his thoughts.

AS for the question, he nods toward Loki and smiles.]

Loki. He's pretty great. Tried to help me escape when this whole thing sorta came down on my head. Since you're new you wouldn't know that Fantastic announced this place and said it was for our good and 'suggested' we move here. But some people weren't 'suggested' to. For some people like me it was the same day as the announcement that these suppressor guards just show up to arrest us. Luckily I work at Loki's theater, I'm the social media manager, or I was. Loki helped me hide while I came up with an escape plan, which was putting his neck out on the line for me.

[ vision has no idea waving cheerfully would be in any way weird right now. he follows mark’s nod towards loki with open interest, folding his fingers neatly back over his knee. ]

But both of you ended up here anyway, despite your efforts to avoid it?

[ for the sake of clarification. ]

PLOTTING

So. I think we're all in agreement that no one wants to stay here longer than usual. I've heard rumours of strange activity regarding a cult within these walls. However, I'm being watched closely. We'll need to learn as much as we can.

Volunteers?

[redhourglass]

Why are you looking at me?

( she sees that stare. )

Because you are clearly volunteering to help these poor innocent people trapped here.

[redhourglass]

I don’t see anyone innocent in this room, do you?

( she can do the whole ‘pointed stare’ thing, too. )

[bocchitime]

U-Um, h-hello.

[The quiet, stuttering voice comes from the pink-haired girl in the back corner of the room. She's been quiet up until now, easily unnoticed.]

I-I don't think I want to be here either. I-If I hear anything, wh-who should I talk to?

[dothelokimotion]

[ oh dear. a child. ]

You can talk to me, I suppose.

[bocchitime]

B-but aren't you being watched closely? I-If they see me talking to you, w-won't they know we're planning something?

[She has never been a part of a jail break before, but she's seen movies. And in this part of the movie, it's imperative to keep the guards from realizing that they're up to anything.]

[ Honestly, the magic and even the red-and-gold room are more familiar to Raine than anything else in this place. They had followed the butterfly out of curiosity, because right now, their priority is learning as much as they can about this new world they find themself in.

Sitting in the room with the tall stranger now, they wonder what they're in for. After all, it might be a trap. It might always be a trap.

Still, they remain calm and put on a polite demeanor, smiling every so slightly. ]

And with whom do I have the honor?

[ loki does a curt bow. ]

Loki. God of Mischief.

[whistlestoptea]

[ A... god? Well, that's certainly a first for Raine. The only god they have at home is the Titan, and, well... Raine isn't entirely sure what to make of that. Certainly, Belos' version of the story can't be the truth.

But it's already very clear that they're gonna have to get used to many new things fast if they want to survive here. ]

Right. And what business is it you want to get to, exactly?

[Mark knows those eyes aren't on him. Because his boss knows what he can do and what he can't do, and it's not the most impressive. But...]

I mean, I can try talking to people. I'm told I've got a bit of a friendly face? I just really don't want to go near those guards. Their suppression things make me feel sick.

[dothelokimotion]

Any effort is welcome.

[There's that. He offers a shrug.]

Then I'll try it. But my face is a bit more known if I was targeted for arrest so far before a lot of others got in.

[How does he use this, actually?]

I almost wish Sephiroth was around. His increased senses are so good.

[ reedy british dude sitting with his hands folded tidily in his lap waits until other people have already piped up to speak. ]

I’m not especially in a hurry to leave or stay personally, but I’m happy to assist.

[ loki's eyes seemingly narrow at this newcomer. ]

And you are?

[ this has a lot of potential to be awkward. fortunately, am a robot. ]
