[Closed-ish] July birthdays!

What: Birthday party for both Tim Drakes

[Today is both Tim Drakes' birthday. In honor of this, Descendant Karaoke Bar and Lounge is closed for the night for a "private event."

On the ground floor where the bar is and where there's the most open space, most of the tables and chairs have been pushed aside while some have been rearranged to accommodate the party. A taco bar is lined up on one side. Hard and soft shells are available, along with a variety of fillings people can choose to make their own tacos.

A projector screen has been set up in front of the bar, alongside a laptop loaded with a movie library.

The birthday cake is a coffee and chocolate ice cream cake with vanilla frosting. It's safely stashed in the kitchen's fridge until it's time for dessert.

Though this family is absolutely dysfunctional and its members don't all come from the same universe or timeline, they're going to make sure two family members have a good birthday party today. Jackass guilds be damned]

[ The hair ruffling gets the predictable reaction - hands flailing but never anything that threatens to actually extricate Tim until the ruffling is done, laughter that borders on a giggle, several protests with no teeth at all. ]

[ Tim gets loose and hits Jason on the arm. ]

You're the one who learned Japanese to, according to the rumor that I'm about to start, watch Akage no An. Who's the weeb now?

( the hit is fair. jason takes it with a grin, and lets tim get some space between them. a grin which starts to fade when he hears akage no an because jason has to--take a minute to figure out what the hell tim is talking about. red-haired ann isn't very specific, but he knows tim's pulling shit he knows jason'll get.

which is why jason's lurching forward again, to try and get an arm around tim's shoulders. it wasn't headlock time earlier, but now it is. )

( his arm settles around tim's neck, pulling him back so jason can raise his other hand and--grinds his knuckles in against tim's hair. hair ruffling wasn't effective enough, he's going for noogies. )

You telling me there's an anime? It as good as the 1980s series?

[ This is so humiliating. But whether it was noogies, punches or spanks, someone was going to torment him today. Might as well get it out of the way. ]

I don't know? It's not my genre! I know it was popular enough that they made a prequel to it over 30 years later, and the Japanese raised the money to rebuild the house in PEI when it burned down.

[ How does Tim know all this? He's just a fount of useless knowledge. Like Encyclopedia Brown, when he cartwheels it sounds like a library falling down. ]

( but he's laughing, holding onto tim as he flattens his hand out to, once again, completely mess up his hair. )

Tell me all you know, 'fore I resort to messier interrogation methods.

But he’s laughing, too, like he would were it Dick harassing him and finally starts trying to free himself from Jason’s grasp. All soft technique, judo, wing chun and similar, because nobody’s after hurting anybody. ]

( that's what he gets, for being so small. jason snorts, but as soon as tim starts making a real effort to get loose rather than just his--flailing, jason lets go. raises both hands up to shoulder-height in mock surrender. )

That's terrible, and you know it. I'd throw you just for hoodwinked, but I'll give you a pass. 'cause it's your birthday.
