What: Birthday party for both Tim Drakes

[Today is both Tim Drakes' birthday. In honor of this, Descendant Karaoke Bar and Lounge is closed for the night for a "private event."

On the ground floor where the bar is and where there's the most open space, most of the tables and chairs have been pushed aside while some have been rearranged to accommodate the party. A taco bar is lined up on one side. Hard and soft shells are available, along with a variety of fillings people can choose to make their own tacos.

A projector screen has been set up in front of the bar, alongside a laptop loaded with a movie library.

The birthday cake is a coffee and chocolate ice cream cake with vanilla frosting. It's safely stashed in the kitchen's fridge until it's time for dessert.

Though this family is absolutely dysfunctional and its members don't all come from the same universe or timeline, they're going to make sure two family members have a good birthday party today. Jackass guilds be damned]

I think it'll be fine. It'll definitely be better than what they've gotten from their parents.

[Which is why Jason agreed to help set up this party. His own complicated feelings about family aside, Jason at least knows his younger brothers should have good birthdays]

( he doesn't exactly know much about either of the tims' family life or history, but. given the fact that both jason here and dick have said this would mean a lot to them — to have this all go smoothly, well. he can only guess.

Yep. Dick and TJ work here too. It's kind of a family affair. Helps keep us keep track of what's going on with the city too.

[Meaning the whole place is bugged so they can spy on their shadier customers when they discuss "business" with their associates]

Sounds like the Iceberg Lounge.

( which certainly houses a number of seedy people and their connections throughout gotham. )

[Jason can't help but smirk at that comparison. Taking some cues from the Iceberg Lounge was intentional]

I like to think I'm a little more classy than Cobblepot.

( he's dealt with the penguin a number of times already. )

We make better use of what we learn here too. It's fun.

[Jason wonders if Bruce has developed his Matches Malone alias yet or if that's a work-in-progress too]

another glance around, it's clear bruce feels a little out of place here — out of his element, but he does his best to just grin and bear it, licking over his lips before he looks over to the taco table. )

It was good of you to do this for them.

It was only right to do this.

[For a moment, Jason tries to busy himself with making another taco. It feels weird trying to talk to Bruce and trying to be on his best behavior. Hell, a lot of his family situation has been bizarre for over a year now]

I'm not used to having younger siblings but I know they're good kids.

( he'd say something about how he's not used to being around so many who know him — know his legacy and look [up] to him as a father figure, but. he keeps that to himself. as he does with a lot of his thoughts. )

Still. You're a good brother for this.

[It's strange. Most of the time, Jason will say he doesn't give a damn anymore about what Bruce thinks of him. Back home his Bruce made it painfully clear how much he doesn't agree with Jason.

But now here was a younger Bruce who doesn't really know him giving him a compliment. A small ball of warmth grows in Jason. But almost as quickly as it shows up, Jason mentally tamps down that warmth. Younger Bruce is still Bruce and Jason knows he shouldn't get carried away. Especially when this Bruce still doesn't know the whole story of what he's done]

It's not much. I'm still learning.

It's a start.

( he means that sincerely. they all seem to have a sort of history with each other — one which bruce can't claim to have with any of them. not for the moment, anyways. all of that will have to happen here for now. )

Yeah. We all gotta start somewhere. For me, it started last year. TJ was the first one I learned about.

[And it was not a pleasant surprise to learn there were more Robins after he died]

Nope. We don't need it.

[His home life with his biological parents was unstable at best. Living at Wayne Manor was when he had the happiest birthdays. And then there were the rest of his lonely years being homeless and needing to travel and train.

Jason has learned to just not expect much on his birthday]

Hopefully the others know that.

( since they'd gone to the trouble of surprising both of the birthday boys with this. )

They probably do. I'm not gonna broadcast it.

[Though TJ was very kind to quietly gift him something last year]

giving a slow look around the venue, his gaze falls back onto jason after a couple seconds. )

( there's a look there on his face, brief as it is, of knowing something that he isn't going to tell and so, he just gives a lazy shrug. )
