[Today is both Tim Drakes' birthday. In honor of this, Descendant Karaoke Bar and Lounge is closed for the night for a "private event."

On the ground floor where the bar is and where there's the most open space, most of the tables and chairs have been pushed aside while some have been rearranged to accommodate the party. A taco bar is lined up on one side. Hard and soft shells are available, along with a variety of fillings people can choose to make their own tacos.

A projector screen has been set up in front of the bar, alongside a laptop loaded with a movie library.

The birthday cake is a coffee and chocolate ice cream cake with vanilla frosting. It's safely stashed in the kitchen's fridge until it's time for dessert.

Though this family is absolutely dysfunctional and its members don't all come from the same universe or timeline, they're going to make sure two family members have a good birthday party today. Jackass guilds be damned]

( not in the same sense as kyle, but he's--been holding onto this for a while. this jason. the one who functions at family get togethers and has conversations like a normal person. )

[ kyle huffs. ]

Haven't broken skin yet, so it's unlikely.

( but he is gesturing back to--the roof. )

Your carpet is the opposite of stealthy, we might wanna move it.

[torchbearer]

Not from a lack of trying.

[ kyle waves as the carpet gets them back on the roof and on their feet. ]

[reneger]

Trust me, sweetheart, if I wanted you to bleed, you'd be bleeding.

( but he's getting back up onto his feet, even if he does--falter a little. now is probably not the best time to try and accentuate how scary he can be. )

[torchbearer]

Uh-huh.

[ nothing is funnier than kyle getting threats. ]

[reneger]

( a bad answer, because it has jason turning his head to look at kyle, brow furrowed. )

You know I can't hear shit like you doubting me an' leave it without showing you you're dead wrong, don't you?

[torchbearer]

[ kyle shakes his head slowly. ]

It's not that kind of doubt.

[reneger]

( a sane person might ask what kyle means by that, because aside from doubting if jason could fuck him over, what else could it have been? but a sane person also wouldn't be up on a roof threatening to make their maybe partner bleed just to prove a point. )

C'mere.

( to jason, who is offering out a hand to kyle. )

[ kyle cocks an eyebrow, but he does reach out to take jason's hand with zero doubts. ]

[reneger]

( there's no violence. jason instead grips onto kyle's hand and pulls him in closer. drops his hand down so he can wrap both arms around his waist, tight, and slouches over enough to press his face in against his neck. )

I got you. Even if you're a fucked up mess of an ex whatever Ion is.

[torchbearer]

[ oh. kyle leans into that like he's starving for it. which he has been for some time now. ]

I never asked to be like this.

[reneger]

( a normal person would also maybe cancel their plans for mischief when someone says something like that. when they lean into a hug like they're desperate for it.

but that's not jason. because jason uses kyle's defenses being down to open his mouth and bite. straight on top of the mark he'd left before and hard enough to break skin. )

[torchbearer]

[ that startles him enough to yelp, pulling back a little. ]

Really? Now?

[reneger]

( kyle pulls back, and jason tightens his arms around him. snickers against his neck, but he does stop biting. because kyle pulling back and teeth being locked into his skin is a bad combination. )

Sorry. I had plans before your I never asked to be like this comment. We can get back to that in a minute.

God, you're such an asshole.

[ and yet he hasn't let go. there's fabric bunched up in his hands like even his body can't quite do it. ]

[reneger]

You thought I couldn't. And a knife, while cleaner, is also less fun.

( jason's grip loosens from the tight hold it'd become when kyle tried to escape, but it doesn't move away entirely. he does move his head away from kyle's neck though, and stands up straight enough to press his forehead against kyle's own. )

But you knew I was an asshole already.

[torchbearer]

[ kyle huffs, his good humour returning as he presses himself against jason. ]

It's a hard thing to forget.

[reneger]

( he should reach for the knife, if only because how fast kyle just decided to be fine with it. gross. a little stabbing might help that.

but jason manages to resist the urge. )

Better check if you're bleeding or not. I'd hate for it to get infected.

[torchbearer]

[ kyle rolls his eyes, but this time he does properly pull back, touching the bite idly with his fingertips. it punctured skin and it hurts, but it feels dim. he's not sure what that means. ]

If it does, I'm blaming you.

[reneger]

I have antibiotic ointment, and the last thing I had was whiskey. You'll be fine, glowstick.

( do you think he walks around unprepared for people to be falling apart at his feet? that'd just be stupid. granted, carrying around an entire first aid kit is a lot of work, jason's focused more on things he would need to keep his guts in, in case of an emergency. and ointment doesn't qualify under that.

kyle pulls back, so jason lets go. imagine the horror if dick the elder walked up onto the roof and saw jason hugging someone. he might never live it down. )

[torchbearer]

Then why bring it up?

[ he knows the answer to that, of course. ]

[reneger]

You're a shit.

( maybe he should just kick kyle in the head. but he doesn't. not yet. )

[ kyle flips him off. ]
