it's a scare tactic. he's just a nameless vigilante here--not a crime lord, and while he'd had a moniker at one point, it'd been abandoned with the old look. jason's just a guy pulling off his bike helmet and settling it against his hip, domino mask covering his eyes and hair just long enough it's starting to curl over his brow.
his head tips to the side, watching the mobsters with mock interest before he's clicking his tongue against the roof of his mouth. watches, as they look to their guns, look to him, start shooting again before realizing it's fucking pointless and starting his way. )
Damn, an' here I was about to ask if I was gonna have to wait all damn day for you to get your shit together. ( his voice is lower, closer to a growl, to the tone he'd gotten used to hearing from batman, but the bowery drawl is stronger, too. jason doesn't reach for his guns, but instead flicks his arm out towards the thugs. throws a few of the throwing knives straight at them. one hits the fingers of thug number one, where his hand had raised with the gun to shoot at him when jason'd raised his own arm. hopefully he hadn't needed those. the other two hit into the arm of thug number two, just as jason's lowering his stance and running straight for them. he came here for a fight, he's going to get it even if it turns into him mostly smearing their blood all over the pavement. )

You guys missed me that much, huh?
[The goon who was shot in the chest groans but manages to get back up]
Cute. You remembered your bulletproof vests for once.
[Jason jumps over the parked car he had used for cover and charges forward to pummel him]

but toys are fun, and he's glad the domino mask he's wearing does have adaptive lenses that prevent him from getting fucked up by the light show. it gets his own two mobster's attention back towards junior, too, but jason isn't having any of that. no, he's sauntering in closer, using junior's presence on the other end to box the four of them in. )
For the record, before we finish this off--I'm only here 'cause this's my turf now, an' you idiots were stupid enough to rampage through it guns blazing. ( it wasn't his turf until two seconds before he spit it out. but jason's calling dibs now. ) If you're real lucky, one of you'll get to go pass it on up the line. After the good ol' doc's done wiring up your jaw.
( because they're swinging for him as he gets in closer, but jason's ready for it. the poor guy who's lost a finger and should be focusing on finding it to get it on ice swings for him with his uninjured hand, and jason grabs onto it, holding tight as he twists away from the other guy's hit and--oh, that sounded like something in his poor wrist. . . definitely didn't make it out okay. the piercing yelp that follows confirms it; jason releases the arm, but only so he can kick guy number one into guy number two. he's not paying attention to junior and his two men. figures he can handle them just fine on his own, and if he can't--well, that's his own damn fault for starting fights, isn't it? )

Jason clicks his tongue again at older Jason saying they’re in his territory. That’ll have to be corrected at a different time.
The goon wearing the bulletproof vest gets punched across the jaw and stabbed in the shoulder with Jason’s combat knife. Jason then kicks him hard in the stomach into the other goon with the gunshot wounds in the arm and shoulder]
A few months of being quiet and you braindead goons thought I’d be rusty?
[Jason then calmly walks over to the bleeding goons with a handgun ready]

he learned to fight dirty long before he learned to fight any other way. went out of his way to pick up the nastiest tricks from the nastiest asshats talia could scrounge up for him. it'd be a lie to say he didn't get a kind of satisfaction from fucking them over. from watching them squirm, the way they'd made so many others do before jason got his hands on them. and there is no reason to hold back here, is there? these guys are junior's enemies, which clearly means they earned his ire somehow - and jason knows himself well enough to know junior's enemies would clearly also be his enemies.
the other birds aren't around. these guys made themselves free game when they decided to get into a high speed chase with the red hood of all people, and jason was just itching to bruise his knuckles on someone. it's perfect.
the feral grin that spreads across his lips, all teeth and violence, makes that clear enough. there's no hesitation in the way he steps forward. in the way he reaches for the two thugs he'd called dibs on and works real hard to ruin them. one swings a fist, and jason bends their wrist back enough to snap it in retaliation. one lurches for him with a knife, and he takes it straight from his hand to shove it into his eye socket.
they try and flee, and jason's raising fists to beat them senseless. he's not killing them; even in his brutality he's careful to keep his blows from being hard enough to knock them out for good. but it becomes clear enough quickly that he's working something out on them, and they're not going to be walking out of this.
they'll be lucky to walk at all, when he's finished. )

Before the men can try to whip out their guns again, Jason fires at their heads. He has a truce with the BatFamily but that doesn't mean he's agreed to follow the No Kill rule again. Plus, he doesn't need all of the thugs alive to make his message to he D'Amicos clear]

jason hears the gun, but doesn't even turn around to take a look. he knows whose gun it is, knows who's going down and who isn't. he doesn't need to know anything else. he drops the last guy down onto the ground with a knife to his knee, swings his leg into his midsection after before raising his foot to slam the heel of his boot right into his nose.
he'll live. maybe slightly better off than the guy missing an eye, but whether or not he'll be able to run again is--well. signs point to no.
and jason's tipping his head back to look over towards junior. drops his eyes down to the corpses, then raises them back up to the hood. )
You gonna leave your mess out like that?
no subject
[Which he's mentally doing now by calling Sleeper through their bond]
All of this just the warm-up for the main event or you were feeling like a nice guy tonight?
no subject
( jason is leaving his mess behind, though. they're still breathing, and jason's bending down to grab one by the back of his shirt. starts dragging him towards the car. )
no subject
[He looks back at the car]
Only need one to play messenger for the other thugs.
no subject
( even if he says it with enough sarcasm laced into each syllable to make the intention behind it--doubtful. jason would still put people down, if they really deserved it. but he doesn't know these guys, and he's not adding them to his bodycount. )
no subject
Nice to know you got integrity. That leash looking a little too tight for you?
no subject
digs the key into the side of the car as he walks up to the front of it. there is no bat on his chest, not anymore, but he is keying one into the hood of the car. whether it's to piss off bruce or send the mob mixed signals--well. why not both? )
You wanna step on over here and find out, little guy? 'cause I'd be more than happy to show you just how tight it is.
no subject
You weren't the most efficient on time but I'll give ya points for style and creativity.
no subject
it doesn't stop jason from turning out towards junior with the key dragging it's way down the hood. )
Wasn't aiming for time efficient. ( he was aiming to work out some of his aggression, which--the eye stabbing definitely helped with that. the key drags down further until jason swipes it against the car bumper, and shoves it back into his pocket. )
no subject
Entertainment then? Not very Bat of you, huh?
no subject
( he's following the rules, mostly. jason's behaving, but that doesn't make him one of them.
and he really, really hopes junior says yes. )
no subject
More than me.

no subject
Cute.
[Jason's well aware that he's purposely goading older Jay. If the guy's going to insist on destroying him, then there's not much of a need on being nice]
no subject
the knife clatters on the ground, and jason looks down to it, then back up to junior. raises a brow. )
You wanna do this here, or should we take it someplace we won't get interrupted?
no subject
Best to find a private spot. Don't want anyone snooping.
[Sure, he had other plans tonight but self-control seems to drop and that itch to fight himself is always too tempting to turn down]
no subject
( because he's turning around to get back to his bike. he's not leaving it at a crime scene full of bodies. )
no subject
no subject
he's following junior to his slummy junkyard, stopping his bike soon as junior stops his own, and pulls himself off of it. )
