crime wrangling; central city, sept 8-19th ( open )
or maybe he's crouching low on top of one of central city's taller buildings, head tipped down to watch the city below him. waiting for trouble to make itself known so he has a good excuse to play hard.
maybe you've found yourself in a rough situation with one of central's thugs, and jason's just close enough to make his way over and lend a hand.
only during nighttime hours. the moment it's dark enough to count, jason's out and about. the moment the sun starts peaking over the horizon--he disappears, no longer traceable for most people. )

But now they've had time to recover and with so many native metahumans who had their abilities blunted, the D'Amicos were seeing opportunities for their drugs again.
Apparently, they also have long enough memories to start attacking Jason and his Backbreakers gang again. On their motorcycles, Jason and two of his goons are zooming in their territory as they get chased by by an unmarked black car. Two of the car's passengers are firing their guns at Jason's group]
no subject
his own bike zips out of an alley just as the unmarked car passes by, tailing it a good several yards back. they're focused ahead, so jason takes advantage by pulling out one of his pistols, aiming straight for the rear tires. he shoots, twice, then abruptly turns the bike out from behind the car to avoid getting hit by the vehicle as it starts skidding out of control, swerving dangerously across the road as the driver tries to regain control.
pulls his bike to a stop so he can climb off of it as they try to regain their bearings. if they're gonna start shit, they're going to get hit. )
no subject
"Boss, we gotta go!" One of Jason's goons shouts in fear.
Calmly and while still eyeing the new biker, Jason orders both of his men to leave and warn the others about the D'Amicos' return. He'll join them later.
Meanwhile, the four D'Amico mobsters climb out of their car and have their guns ready for older Jason. Younger Jason then clicks his tongue, pretending to be offended. He can't let his double have all the fun]
Awww. Lost interest in me already? I'm hurt.
[He then dives for cover behind a parked car as two of the mobsters fire at him while the other two shoot at older Jason]
no subject
it's a scare tactic. he's just a nameless vigilante here--not a crime lord, and while he'd had a moniker at one point, it'd been abandoned with the old look. jason's just a guy pulling off his bike helmet and settling it against his hip, domino mask covering his eyes and hair just long enough it's starting to curl over his brow.
his head tips to the side, watching the mobsters with mock interest before he's clicking his tongue against the roof of his mouth. watches, as they look to their guns, look to him, start shooting again before realizing it's fucking pointless and starting his way. )
Damn, an' here I was about to ask if I was gonna have to wait all damn day for you to get your shit together. ( his voice is lower, closer to a growl, to the tone he'd gotten used to hearing from batman, but the bowery drawl is stronger, too. jason doesn't reach for his guns, but instead flicks his arm out towards the thugs. throws a few of the throwing knives straight at them. one hits the fingers of thug number one, where his hand had raised with the gun to shoot at him when jason'd raised his own arm. hopefully he hadn't needed those. the other two hit into the arm of thug number two, just as jason's lowering his stance and running straight for them. he came here for a fight, he's going to get it even if it turns into him mostly smearing their blood all over the pavement. )
no subject
You guys missed me that much, huh?
[The goon who was shot in the chest groans but manages to get back up]
Cute. You remembered your bulletproof vests for once.
[Jason jumps over the parked car he had used for cover and charges forward to pummel him]

vacation, sept 1-7th ( closed; kyle, dick jr, tj )
they've avoided that, at least.
the fake passports have their names listed as jace, alvin, and richard draper - and then there's kyle's with james johnson. which isn't john doe, at least.
the plane lands in dublin, as was requested by kyle. ish. and the hotel, when they get there, isn't ritzy but it isn't cheap, either. there's balconys off the rooms, and between the four of them and the dog, they've got three adjoining rooms.
for reasons. and if jason's going to burn money he'd gotten from people who clearly don't deserve having the cash, he may as well burn it on making sure they've got plenty of space. they've got euro to burn through distributed between them from jason's emergency explosives fund, and plenty of time to spend doing absolutely nothing.
or working to figure out why the fuck the gardai had swarmed the hotel room just a few down from their own just a couple days after their arrival. because they can never just chill, clearly they need to solve murders during their chill time. )
( open )
it's not an option he considers long here, with everything going on.
instead, he's out on the balcony off the hotel room, 'bear' the puppy settled on his chest as he lays flat on hard cement with his eyes closed, and just. doesn't move. these are healthy coping mechanisms. )
no subject
He's aware that room service is an unnecessary expense, but he's here against his will. Jason can afford two pots of coffee and a full Irish.
Tim wanders onto his own balcony at about 11, once the sun's gone behind the clouds. He's not even pretending to be decent: he's drinking out of the carafe. ]
Morning.
no subject
If you're gonna kill me, could you do me a favor and do it while I'm sleeping? Which I ain't right now.
( obviously. look at him, speaking quite clearly to tim.
not that he'd still be asleep if he had been. tim wasn't trying to be quiet, he would have woken up regardless. )
no subject
Tim will take a seat. You see these things, Jay? They're seats. Much more comfortable. ]
If I was going to kill you, I'd wait until the dog wasn't around. The behavior of pets who've been present during a murder can reveal things about the killer, you know that. Also, a vacation is a terrible place to commit a murder. Half of all victims are killed by someone related to them, another 23.8% by someone they knew. Laser focus on Kyle, Dick and I if you die in Ireland. And that's not even taking into account that it's me.
no subject
( but this is tim drake, who pulls seemingly random bits of information out of his ass at opportune moments as if that was just normal. because it is. for him. and it sounds about right as far as numbers jason knows, so he's not questioning it either. jason closes his eyes again and scritches behind the puppy's ears. it's not exactly a safe location to let his guard down: he's outside, exposed, there's nothing preventing a potential attack if someone did come at him--except the armor he's still wearing under his sweats and tee, but.
he's trying to relax, for what it's worth. )

He steps out onto his own balcony, glass of juice in hand, and observes Jason and 'Bear' lounging on the... concrete. ]
Is your bed that uncomfortable?
no subject
( it's a little melodramatic. okay, it's a lot melodramatic. but it's also not wrong, so. jason keeps his eyes closed, idly petting along bear's spine. )
You wanna talk about it?
( what's weighing dick down. jason has a good idea, has since before they left--which is what this trip was for. a chance to breathe, to let themselves have space to feel all the crappy shit they've been going through without worrying about breaking down at just the wrong moment. )
no subject
With a sigh, he sits cross-legged on one of the chairs facing Jason. ]
That bad huh?
[ Apparently his melancholy is as subtle as a brick to the face. ]
no subject
( he's pretty sure tim's coming for bruce's title, but. that's irrelevant to what's going on right now, and he's not out to raise tim's ego anymore than it already has been. )
An' you've been antsy since you got here.

ireland was a place his mother talked about often. passed along what little gaelic kyle could muster, humming away in the chilled evening air. it's strange to be here without her. he hopes — he hope she's doing all right.
kyle leans against the balcony railing, taking it all in. ]
no subject
it's several steps across the hotel room before jason's leaning in against the doorframe leading out to the balcony, hip propped against it and arms crossed loosely over his chest. he's gotten some sleep since they'd gotten here, so the bone-deep exhaustion he's been carrying for weeks is a little--less present. the grin he throws kyle is soft and easy. )
So, how's this for a third date? ( he's counting their initial coffee meet up. ) Does it meet your standards?
no subject
It's definitely up there.
no subject
( he's teasing. they could easily travel to paris if they really wanted to. gotham will always be home and jason'll always find his way back to the rest of his family, but he's also spent a shitton of time everywhere else. and he's fairly certain he and kyle couldn't find anywhere here as. . . romantic as when they'd gotten stuck in victorian era gotham briefly. ah, well. )
Or we could go for space.

This morning, it's not Jason standing there like he expected. But maybe that's a good thing. It's been so much hustle and bustle that he hasn't had time to really get to know Kyle. So instead of going back inside or looking for Jason, he decides to be chatty. ]
Morning.
no subject
[ he holds his hand up in a casual wave. it's weird to be talking to a younger dick, but it's not the worst thing. reminds him a little of the titans, though kyle was there long after dick left. ]
How's it going?

He's homesick for Gotham and the Cave and Mount Justice. He misses his Bruce and Alfred and his friends and his team. He feels it all even more keenly now that he's away from the chaos that's overtaken his life.
On top of that his other self asked him to look after everyone while he's gone. Given recent events, it seems like it might be needed.
Of course, he tells no one this, instead just keeping to himself a little more than usual. He's been quietly keeping up on the news in Central and Excelsior, which is not very vacation mode of him. ]
