It's Friday October 27th when this housewarming shindig happens at the townhouse in Central he's recently purchased for himself and with it being so close to Halloween, he decides to decorate it a little. Or maybe a lot. He's still trying to get the hang of this whole Bruce Wayne thing. Either way, the lower floor of the five-story townhouse is decorated for the spooky season and the one floor he'd prefer people to stick to since he's not the only one who lives here. There's food and refreshments available with something hopefully for everyone and if you're in the mood for something a little more spooky for a drink, there's this little guy lined up along one of the tables to be enjoyed, the flavor being a tart pomegranate with a touch of sweetness to it. Yes, it can also be alcoholic and yes, he has someone stationed there to ensure those of age to drink are the ones taking the alcoholic version of that. On your way in or out, don't forget to say hi to the concierge for the night and feel free to take your complimentary pumpkin bucket filled with candy he has for guests. Don't worry about checking the candy for trackers. It's not like he would ever do such a thing. 😇 Happy Housewarming Halloween. ooc notes: just a stupid little housewarming mingle thrown together where bruce makes an attempt to Do Something for his kiddos and friends he has here. Diana also lives within the townhouse and so friends of hers are welcome to stop by as well if she'd invite them. whoever the kiddos want to bring along with them are also welcome to stop by but please stick to the first floor where the shindig is or else bruce is going to be Disappointed aka i'm still figuring out the rest of the floors.

( he's not so sure about this, but. he's trying.

he doesn't exactly greet guests upon their arrival, given it's not as if it's some public event being held, but he's close by to see who actually decides to show up, spooky themed drink in hand. someone who will greet guests and eagerly so, is a black lab pup wearing a custom-made leather jacket, running up to anyone and everyone, probably looking for treats and head pats.

otherwise, you can catch bruce lingering near the food table, overthinking all of this as bruce wayne does and watching those who decided to come, making a mental note of who's here, both familiar and unfamiliar.

if he does decide to try and make conversation, it's likely to be about the food. )

[The leather jacket on the black pup sure looks awfully familiar. Jason bends down to pet him while wearing his own leather jacket and a Wonder Woman costume]

( cocoa bear is more than happy to receive some attention, tail wagging happily as he's pet. bruce, on the other hand... well. that's certainly a look jason here has. hm. )

He seems to like it enough.

[Jason certainly has no shame in wearing his outfit. He looks as comfortable in it as if he was in his usual civilian clothes]

( drink in hand, he takes a slow sip of it, licking over his lips as he looks down to bear and his wagging tail. )

[ Jean knows exactly whose house she's at—and precisely whose she's isn't, all the same—before she arrives. Consider it habit and old hat, as well as well worn precaution where it comes to the unknown and those dear to her in unusual circumstances.

A concession of contradiction that she knows all too well.
She's there for one obvious reason. Or maybe it's three.

But it'd be hard to tell from the ease with which she crouches down, loose red hair billowing in a wavy curtain around her as she greets the most excited member of the house. The small dog is amply rewarded for his excitement with attentive fawning, Jean's smile a bright ribbon of unfettered amusement. ]

( he recognized her the second she walked in as the one who'd been looking for "him" on the network. he hadn't reached out — knows the others had been chirping amongst themselves with who was asking about him, but. he'd left it, more or less.

so that means she's either tracked him down here or, she so happens to be someone diana invited which... hm. either way, he'll play dumb.

tail wagging and smile on that little puppy face, cocoa bear accepts the fawning rather happily, bruce watching from close by while taking a slow sip of his drink. )

Sure he'll grow up to be a lady killer.

[ Jean glances up. An unhurried, fluid movement toward the voice that is-and-isn't, of the man whose quiet rumble of thoughts at the nothing-like-far edge of her perception is-and-isn't. The smile stays even as she settles for finding his eyes (the new ones), seeing this face (so much younger, and ... yet) finally with her own eyes, and not those of someone else, whether in this room or in their thoughts. ]

You sure it's going to take that long even?

Guess we'll have to see.

( though he's sure cocoa bear has already won the hearts over of everyone he's come into contact with. how could someone not with that custom -made leather jacket he wears and those big brown eyes of his? even bruce couldn't resist when he'd found him on the side of the road alone. then again, bruce has a thing about taking others in. or so it seems.

You dressed the dog?

( of course he is. mister "just watching anime" when asked what he's doing friday night. )

The jacket was from Jason.

He seems to like it.

( whether he means jason or the pup... he could even mean both. )

( faintly, a smile as he takes a slow sip of his drink. )

Yeah, so. Tim is 100% communing with the dog right now. Bruce can wait his turn while Tim kneels down next to Cocoa Bear for all the scritches.

"The jacket was from Jason?"

"How'd you know?" It's said around the rim of his glass, watching the way the pup's tail wags happily at the attention he's getting from Tim there. Which is fine, really. The little guy deserves all the pets and scritches and attention he can get.

"He likes giving out leather jackets, I guess. I got one for my birthday."

He hums, giving Cocoa Bear only the Bestest of scritches, as he's been learning from Haley to give. "We should get him and Haley acquainted."

[It feels a little weird to realize that she's been more afraid to meet this version of Bruce than she ever was of Batman. A different meeting between them than with the boys as well. None of the others would recall Bruce's return to Gotham and the appearance of Batman--Dick would have been traveling with Haley's Circus, while Jason and Tim were too young to care.

But, she remembers, and works to set that and any other memories aside as approaches him. Nothing suspicious about a Disney princess with a gift, right?]

( it's strange to see gordon's daughter like this, but. a lot of things about this place have been strange and, he's figuring, will continue to be strange.

her costume definitely gets him to look her over, slow sip of his drink as he does. bruce himself, to no one's surprise, not dressed up. unless being dressed as a rich prince of gotham in a nice suit is a thing. )

Bruce. But you probably already knew that.

[They could all tell him that dressing up as Bruce Wayne is a thing, usually done by Bruce himself. It's only when he's neither Bruce nor Batman that he was himself.]

That would be the most logical conclusion since I know all the other adult males in attendance.

[ Some time later, when they've seen off their guests and townhouse has grown quiet once more, Diana makes her way through the dim room, sipping her pomegranate drink and thinking wryly of the story of Persephone. Cocoa Bear, tired out from all the attention and excitement, is curled into a small, soft ball on a chair seat, his little side lifting and falling with each breath.

When she finds Bruce, she smiles, lifts her glass. ]

I thought that went rather well.

( he's blowing out a few candles when she finds him, the place thankfully not much of a mess needing to be tended to. popping a couple blueberries into his mouth, he glances over to her, slow nod to come before he's looking back around the place. )

Could have been worse, definitely.

( jason doesn't approach bruce, because why the hell would he do that? instead, he breaks in through a window on the bottom floor, carefully maneuvering around the security system, so he can drop down on the floor a little away from the food table and reach into his pocket, luring bear on over to the corner with a handful of puppy treats and soft murmurs of good boy, look who's doing so well, did you get bigger? while he scritches behind bear's ears and leans in to press his mouth against the top of his head in what's not-quite a kiss but close enough.

give him a few minutes, and maybe he'll start bitching up at bruce himself - but until then, bear gets jason's full attention.

jason, who also happens to be - dressed in full on wonder woman gear, legit lasso included. )

( honestly. just this face.

drink in hand, he catches the way bear wanders off out of the corner of his eye and trails him with his gaze. what he sees somehow should surprise him and yet, it also doesn't. while the pup enjoys the attention of jason and the treats given, bruce just hums to himself before he makes his way over and stands there. silent. staring. hm. )

I wasn't sure you'd show.

Thought about starting at the top floor, but figured it'd be more fun to steal your shit when you've already been warned.

( it's a threat that isn't quite a threat. bruce'll get it. jason's here to steal his shit, not party, but he can do both at once. especially when one involves sitting down to give bear some attention, first. )
