[It’s taken some planning but tonight, Jason and Accelerator are in Excelsior and on a Society assignment to steal something for the Baron. They had done recon the previous night to get an idea of what the new space exhibit’s security is like. The tech and the guards are more advanced than typical museum security but that wasn’t very surprising given the city they’re in. Ultimately, the duo concluded that it was feasible to steal the Canem Sibilus.

Jason’s up on a dark rooftop across from the space exhibit. It’s nearly time for it to close. He’s dressed in his Red Hood gear as he calmly waits for Accelerator to arrive]

[Jason softly swears as he hears more humming]

I think there’s a second one nearby. I’m ready to shoot my way out.

[And indeed, these shiny new drones are capable of opening doors. Evidently one’s ready to check around the perimeter and not just stay indoors]

[levelshift]

Hmm.

[... Well, if he's going to do something flashy and obvious like using his guns....]

Okay.

[Accelerator doesn't offer up any more than that. He probably should, but he doesn't think it's necessary. His eyes focus down on the door below and he reaches up with his free hand to his choker, waiting for the drone inside to push the door open. With a low hum, it does, and floats outside.

He switches modes and, instead of the less destructive, stealthier option of just taking out the drone and cameras with the rocks, he brings his fist down onto the wall. There isn't much strength behind it, but altering some vectors downwards is more than enough. Massive cracks snake downwards all the way to the door and there's a massive BOOM! as the entire wall is blown outwards. The drone and cameras are all smashed in the explosion, and while it sets off some alarms in the building it's also leaving behind a big fog of plaster and dust -- some good impromptu cover for Jason while he escapes.]

[At almost the same time, Jason shoots down the drone closest to him. Alarms screech when Accelerator takes down the wall and Jason takes it as his signal to run. He’s picked up that the fog of dust and plaster is his cover while he flees. Security is heading towards him and Accelerator fast.

He soon makes it outside]

I think someone’s gonna be happy. Come on.

[levelshift]

[Accelerator waits up there until he picks up on the soundwaves of Jason's footsteps approaching the broken wall. He can tell security is on his tail, so once he sees him through the haze he'll manipulate some air molecules and sent a windy burst beneath Jason to launch him back up to the roof. That'll be a faster getaway than running through the alleys, and he's running low on battery.]

Great, a happy dog. Lucky us.

[He is not an animal person.]

[robintohood]

[Jason rides with the air burst and lands on the rooftop with a roll before springing back up]

There better be decent favors for us after all this. How're you feeling?

[levelshift]

[Inwardly, Accelerator thinks that is a very cool move. Outwardly, however, he's all business. Especially with that question.]

We need to go.

[It's not an I'm not fine because he'd never say that out loud, but his battery is running low and he doesn't want to collapse while they're still on some roof.]

[robintohood]

[Jason nods and takes out his grapple gun. He had parked his motorcycle not too far from the building]

Ready to hold on?

[levelshift]

[He wants to say no, but it's more practical to not waste any more battery when he doesn't need to.]

..... Fine.

[Still, he's scowling a little as he grabs onto Jason.]

[robintohood]

[Once Accelerator holds onto him, Jason fires his grappling hook to the next building and zips towards it.

He doesn't normally have someone with him when he's rooftop jumping but after what he and Accelerator just did, it's necessary.

The process is repeated for several more buildings before Jason stops. He withdraws his hook]

Down the fire escape. Bike's parked there.

[levelshift]

[Accelerator isn't exactly thrilled he's having to rely on Jason for this, but he keeps quiet about it. Now isn't the time to be stubborn.

... Still, as soon as Jason gets them over a few rooftops he's letting go and heading for the fire escape. Sirens can be heard in the distance, in the direction of the museum.]

Sounds like our timing is good.

[For this he's switching his choker on and just hopping off the roof. It's fine, it's only a couple seconds to get down to the ground, and once he's down there he's switching back.]

[robintohood]

[Jason quickly follows Accelerator. Once he’s on the ground, he goes to his motorcycle, pulls out a spare helmet from the trunk and offers it to Accelerator]

It should be a short ride.

[levelshift]

[Right, he would need a helmet this time, wouldn't he? He takes it without complaint, putting it on, then carefully climbing on to the back of the motorcycle.]

So we're almost in the clear?

[robintohood]

[Sirens continue to screech nearby as Jason climbs onto his motorcycle and turns it on]

Almost. Hold on.

[Jason revs it]

[levelshift]

Okay.

[Accelerator latches on. Maybe one day he should learn how to drive properly.]

[robintohood]

[As soon as he feels Accelerator has secured himself, Jason zooms off towards the Society’s teleporters. He purposely takes side streets and avoids major arteries of traffic as he knows the cops will be using those]

Good job tonight.

[levelshift]

[The whole time he's going to cling to Jason, silent for a few moments at the praise. He knows he should be happy to receive it, but it just makes him feel uncomfortable.]

... Their security was shit, that's all.

[robintohood]

Heh. They’re gonna need to invest in more drones.

[There are several more minutes of driving before they reach the teleporters. Once they take them, it’ll drop them off right at their guild’s headquarters]

[levelshift]

That won't be cheap.

[Accelerator is feeling a lot more comfortable once they're back in Central City. Maybe it's the distance from Excelsior and that city's law enforcement, he doesn't know.]

You can drop the whistle off without me, right?

[Does he need to talk to the dog? He isn't an animal person, and he doesn't really want to fill out any paperwork.]

[robintohood]

[Jason nods]

I can take care of all of that. You can just relax.

[levelshift]

Alright. [Then once Jason comes to a stop in front of Society headquarters he's going to remove the helmet and climb off the bike.]

Then I need to get home. [And charge his choker before he runs out of battery completely.]

[robintohood]

Be careful. We’ll take a break from lessons.

[levelshift]

That's fine. [He's pulling his phone out to get an Uber.] I'll see you around.

Fast forward to the next time Accy and Jason are at Society HQ…

[As promised, Jason immediately dropped off the artifact in front of the Baron. He has to admit, the reward isn’t what he expected but he’ll have to take the borzoi’s word for it that it has practical value when the opportunity calls.

So after at least a day of cleaning, resting, and healing, Jason stops by at the office to see if Accelerator’s working today]

[He is! Doing homework, specifically, since these days his work-work for Chaos Gate is out in Sunset Falls, what with her no longer being part of the guild and all.

He's doing history homework in the lounge and looks bored as hell, glancing over when Jason approaches.]

Hey. American history is really fucking boring.

[robintohood]

[Jason snorts]

Yeah, and whitewashed as hell depending on your sources.
