[It’s taken some planning but tonight, Jason and Accelerator are in Excelsior and on a Society assignment to steal something for the Baron. They had done recon the previous night to get an idea of what the new space exhibit’s security is like. The tech and the guards are more advanced than typical museum security but that wasn’t very surprising given the city they’re in. Ultimately, the duo concluded that it was feasible to steal the Canem Sibilus.

Jason’s up on a dark rooftop across from the space exhibit. It’s nearly time for it to close. He’s dressed in his Red Hood gear as he calmly waits for Accelerator to arrive]

[Accelerator is hoping this burglary goes better than the one at the recycling facility. It occurred to him, shortly after agreeing to it, that the possibility is there....

But then, this is a museum in Excelsior, not a recycling facility in Central, and he's here with Jason rather than the turtles. The recon didn't net anything like that horrible nightmare room, so it should be fine. It remains in the back of his mind, and he focuses on the theft.

It'll be fine. He's strong, and Jason has a ton of experience with this kind of thing. They've got this in the bag.

He arrives on the rooftop from the alley below, having jumped up via the use of gravity rather than his usual tornado wings. This is quieter, and he's trying to be stealthy. He immediately switches his choker back to normal mode to conserve the battery, leaning on his crutch.]

Hey. Everything good to go?

[He hasn't done much for his appearance, wearing just a black hoodie with the hood pulled up to hide his hair. It's good enough.]

[Jason nods while still facing the exhibit. Civilians are starting to leave]

Like clockwork so far. Shift change is happening soon so we should get going. How’re you feeling?

[levelshift]

[Stepping over to Jason, Accelerator follows his gaze down.]

Exhausted and wanting to take a nap. [Hah, he's funny even though he's serious.] So... normal. My choker's fully charged, so I've got just about a full thirty minutes for my ability.

[robintohood]

Good. Hopefully you don't have to use the full period.

[A couple of the security guards can be seen at the entrance, ready to close as the stragglers walk out]

Guards at the front and likely guards at the back now punching in. Ready for the skylight?

[Jason has his grapple gun ready and offers a hand to Accelerator]

[Security guards seem easy enough. He gives a little nod at the question, keeping his face serious and not thinking that it's kind of cool to be sneaking into a museum through a skylight.

Though, he doesn't take Jason's hand, raising his own before going for his choker.]

I got it.

[It'll be a few seconds of time to get over to the roof of the museum, so it's fine. More importantly, he doesn't want Jason to think he needs to rely on him for anything during this. That he's completely capable, despite being younger and less experienced with crime and having a strict time limit.]

[Though concerned with the time limit Accelerator has on his abilities, Jason also trusts him to keep track so he drops the offer and fires his grapple gun towards the museum. The hook latches onto edge of the rooftop.

Once the line is secure, Jason presses a button on the grapple gun and swings across]

[Accelerator will follow suit, switching his choker again and manipulating his own gravitational vectors to hop on over, then switching back. After a quick glance around (for cameras and the like) he walks over to the skylight, peering down into it.

It's a big atrium below, complete with giant model of a spaceship that's been hung from the ceiling.]

[Jason peers down at the atrium. The space is clear for now so he takes out a couple of tools from his jacket and begins to gently pry open the skylight]

Night guards should be walking soon.

[levelshift]

Okay.

[He doesn't offer to help, instead watching Jason work curiously.]

Where'd you get that stuff?

[robintohood]

You’ll be amazed how creative someone can get with tools you can get at any hardware store. Other stuff though like the better lockpicks you’re better off in the black market and the dark web. I’m sure the Society makes things even easier.

[There’s a click and Jason carefully opens the skylight. The atrium still appears to be clear so Jason then sets up his grapple hook and one end of the line to wrap around the pole of a roof vent. The other end of the line drops on top of the model spaceship]

Hmmm. Don't remember the last time I've been in a hardware store.

[If he's ever been in one, honestly......

He's probably better off going through the Society like Jason is saying, if he needs any of this kind of thing. It might be useful to learn how to pick locks - he can always break them with his ability, but this way he wouldn't need to rely on it.

Something to think about as he watches Jason. When he gets the skylight open, he looks back down at the atrium, eyeing the space.]

Watch your step.

[Jason starts to climb down on his rope and gently lands on the model. He moves away from the skylight’s light and into the shadows instead, still watching for the guards]

[He gives a little nod, leaning over and watching Jason curiously. That's a level of activity he'd never be able to accomplish, even before the brain injury..............

So of course he hits the switch on his choker again and steps off the edge of the open skylight, sinking down silently onto the model spaceship. Once he lands he ducks over next to Jason, adjusting his grip on his crutch before crouching down and changing his choker back to normal. At the very least, he's gotten pretty good at managing his battery time.

Below them two security guards enter the atrium, chatting to each other casually as they make a loop around the room. It seems to be a pretty standard check-in for them, so they aren't paying much attention, especially above them.]

[Jason remains quiet as he watches the guards loop around the room. He waits until they’re out of the room and out of earshot before attempting his next move. He presses a button on his grapple gun to further extend the line to the floor. He then carefully climbs down]

[levelshift]

[Accelerator's attention is split between the guards below and Jason. The former are noisy, so even with their voices echoing it's easy to track their loop. The latter is whom he's watching for their next step.

So when Jason moves he does as well, following him down using more gravity vectors to remain silent.]

[Again, Jason is looking over where the light sources are. Cameras are still active regardless if a guard is in the room. So Jason continues to stick to the shadows as they start to move]

Might have to take the long way to get to that flute.

[levelshift]

[While the atrium is big, there are a few large exhibits that offer a lot in the way of shadows for them to utilize. Accelerator sticks close to Jason, mostly using his crutch, less worried about causing noise once the guards have left. There's only security cameras, no speakers, so it should be fine.]

Hmm. [He isn't going to complain. It just means he has to be even more careful about managing his battery time.] You don't think it'll be a problem?

[robintohood]

Neither option is perfect. If we do a bum rush we might finish the job quicker. But space kitty might already be nearby and get to it first as soon as she hears the commotion.

The stealth option is slower but it’s possible for us to nab that thing before anyone notices. What do you think?

[Especially given Accelerator’s stamina]

[levelshift]

[........... He really wants to just break down a wall and go find the flute.]

I'll be fine if we take longer.

[But from how Jason explains it, it sounds like the latter is the smarter option. And he isn't about to show any weakness right now.]

Alright.

[Jason starts to lead, remembering the layout of the building when they did recon]

Hopefully it doesn’t happen but we can change tactics if we need to.

[levelshift]

Right.

[The security guards don't return as they make their way through the atrium, no doubt doing a circuit of another area of the museum to ensure all the guests have left, so for now they only have the cameras to contend with. Getting to one of the exits won't be too bad, though Accelerator is still wary the whole time, it reminding him of how the recycling facility burglary started so similarly.]

[Jason's calm and maintaining a careful but not too slow of a pace as they leave the atrium and into a hallway. Everything's about stealth and timing tonight. Though he has equipment like smoke pellets in case they might get caught, he'd rather continue to keep things as quiet as possible. Much of the path so far is within the shadows, against walls, and just barely ducking into camera blind spots.

Then a guard's footsteps can be heard coming towards them. The man's distant voice mentions something about forgetting his coffee]

[It's only a minor bump so far, but Accelerator regardless resists the urge to curse, biting his tongue instead and glancing over at Jason for some direction. The easy thing would be to just go upwards, using his ability, but there's the possibility of still being noticed or ending up on one of the cameras. He doesn't want to make any sudden, dumb moves on his own that'll just screw things up.]

Well?

[robintohood]

[Jason looks around before spotting a paper cup of coffee sitting on a bench. He gingerly moves it to a brighter spot on the bench closer to where the guard will emerge before stealthily and quickly going back to the shadows]

[That's really all he's doing, huh? Accelerator watches in baffled silence, not saying anything when Jason returns to the shadows.

A minute or so later the guard comes into view, looking around and scratching his head until he spies his coffee. Then, casually as ever, he walks over to the bench and scoops it up, taking a long sip.]
