It's still chilly this early in the spring, especially in the shady wooded venu, but with many of the trees in bloom and lights hung among their boughs, it's quite pretty.

A few seats in the front row are occupied by objects rather than people: Thor's axe Stormbreaker, a handwritten book of faerie tales, and a book titled What Is Mako? by one Gast Faremis.

Eros, god of love, stands ready to perform the ceremony.

The men in question have yet to arrive. Their plan is to come together. Eventually, soft piano music fills the air, ethereal and mysterious. Sephiroth and Loki enter the glade, hands clasped as they slowly walk the aisle. Loki is dressed in a dark green dress, lined with silver trimmings. He’s even traded his gold helm for a silver circlet, but it has small horns attached to the front. Sephiroth wears a simpler black suit, but his hair is pulled back into a series of intricate braids.

Is that Lady Gaga you hear? Well, not quite. It's the local Lady Gaga cover band, but they're pretty good, right?

There is a dance floor for those who are so inclined, and a generous refreshments table for those who might not be. Loki has splurged on all kinds of appetisers and snacks to satisfy the pickiest eaters. There might be things that you’ve never seen on Earth such as edible gold and stardust or mead that is reminiscent of the past. A chocolate fountain features in its center.

Loki has also left little gifts for the attendees. A little snow globe. If shaken, it’ll show the recipient a fond memory.

"Last world I was in I managed Thanksgiving for, like, forty. It was a whole thing. But I was so happy. Guess I'm lucky to have such a smart partner."

"He's good with people too, and that matters. It keeps me light on my feet when he starts plotting."

"Would you consider the restaurant suggestion a plot?" It might be. Sometimes plots are required to force people into happiness.

"In some ways, yes," David said with a laugh. "And I don't mind that at all."

"I suppose that is the best kind of plot."

"The ones that win us happiness tend to be," David agrees. "Retiring from too much heroics is going to be good for me I think."

Sephiroth tilts his head in surprise. "You're stepping back from that?"

[helpdesk_hero]

"You know, I never actually wanted to be a hero when I was a kid, when I first realized my powers."

Even when he was being trained in a fight, and knowing what he could do, he hadn't wanted it.

"There's a difference between obligations and desires I guess."

He nods in understanding. "There certainly is. I think it's good, to focus on your desires."

His desires? David smiles. He knows what his desires are. Balthier.

"Peace and happiness would be pretty nice to experience."
