What: Fancy Opening Night
When: May 11th
Where: The Opherium, Central City
Content Warnings: n/a
( i. grand opening — mingle and drinks )
[ welcome to the opherium. open to all metas, provided youāre up to the dress code. so make sure youāre dressed to the gills with your fanciest clothes or you might just be asked to leave. youāre ushered into a grand hall. there are appetizers like shrimp cocktails and little quiches placed on large tables for you to nibble on and champagne glasses being passed around by waiters. located in the middle is a large chocolate fountain for all you dessert lovers (loki. itās for loki). grab yourself a drink and go hit up a familiar face. ]
( ii. dance dance )
[ and of course, once the mingling and networking is done, the staff come to clear the chairs away and leave plenty of room on the dance floor. the lights go dim, casting soft shadows against the wall. slow waltzes begin to filter through the hall as gently encouragement to go find a partner, maybe hold them close, enjoy a little . . . company and more.
or maybe you just want an excuse to step on someoneās foot. equally valid. in fact, there might be a little magic in the air that tugs you towards someone you want to be with . . . ]
( iii. star gazing )
[ the party is winding down. maybe youāre ready to go back. curl up on bed after a late night with drinks and dancing. or perhaps youāre feeling a touch of wistfulness, a need to seclude yourself after all that jazz. consider then, finding yourself a nice quiet corner on the upper levels of the theatre, where there are some nice balconies for you to collect yourself.
and there are always the stars to keep you company. ]

I'm already holding your hand. I didn't bring gloves; it's not white tie.
no subject
No, see, then you would say something charming, like, That could take all night. Understand?
[ Flirting 101. ]
no subject
No, that could take all night, if you want me to say it without being embarrassed.
[ Which he is, somewhat, although Tim understands that Loki's just winding him up. He holds himself a little taller and goes for something more confidant, trying to at least describe what he's seen people do, if not do it. He doesn't nail the tone, and again lands on nervous. ]
Because, then, I'd be expected to dip you and pull you up close to set you up for a saucy remark.
no subject
[ That's where he's slingshotting that remark, take that for your saucy tone, Tim. ]
You couldn't dip me if you tried, I'm about a foot taller than you, and I also weight a great deal more than I think you expect.
no subject
[ Or he wasnāt until just then. Heād rushed to defend himself as being unembarrassed by wanting to kiss boys. Which heās not. Self conscious, yes, and thereās another check to where last saw people he knows because. Itās one thing to tell people that youāre bisexual and another to put on a demonstration.
Timās been trying to avoid thinking too hard about the dance. People dance with people they donāt want to kiss all the time, and he doesnāt even know if he wants to - but heās definitively implied he did want to in that retort.
If he spent more time in the sun, he might have more of a defence against blushing, but more than half of his waking hours are lit by moonlight and blue light monitors. Heās a tomato.
Which is why heās just going to dip Loki and take his chances on the distraction. ]
At your height, you weigh what? 200? Maybe 220. I can do it if you use your core and I put some of your weight on my thigh.
[ Shifting his hand into a better position, he spins them and tries to maneuver Loki into a deeper dip, the kind the partner has to extend into. ]
no subject
I'm not risking falling on top of you and breaking your leg.
[ Tim does get a peck on the forehead for his enthusiasm, though. ]
no subject
[ His mouth is just a thin flat line, on the cusp of an actual frown. He's going to sulk over this particular trick, and his hands push harder at Loki. For a short nerd, Tim's got decent strength. ]
What is it? Superstrength? You could let me win, you know, and you're not going to break my leg. I'm tougher than I look.
[ Stupid metas, we hates them, he thinks to himself. They set you up to feel silly and then make it worse by kissing you on the forehead.
Tim should probably put a stop to that. And maybe to the dance, since they have come to a stop anyway, with Loki unmoving. ]
I'm kinda seeing someone. Back home. Not that this is - you should just know.
no subject
[ Loki slides his arm around Tim's neck and gives him a nudge to head off the dancefloor with him. More drinks! ]
Who are you seeing back home? Did they make skyfall here?
no subject
Although he doesn't pick up on the more drinks idea and stops way short of the bar. ]
A guy I went to school with. His name's Bernard.
[ He gets a stupidly shy/happy expression on his face. (Dopey. The word is dopey.) ]
Sorry... I haven't really said that a lot yet. He's not here. I tried to find him on OurPowers and couldn't find a Bernard Dowd anywhere.
no subject
[ It's worth asking! He's nosy. How sweet for Tim, the blushing little maniac that he is. ]
no subject
No, I left my phone in my other universe, sorry. What's your boyfriend's name? How long have you two been together?
[ Tim has questions. For once, they're not information-gathering - or they are, but only because he's never gotten to have this conversation from this angle before. ]
no subject
His identity must remain a secret as he's a hero, but I can tell you we got together shortly after we both arrived in this realm. He was charming and we hit it off immediately.
no subject
[ Tim will respectfully not ask again, and he'll ever so slightly slide the abacus bead more to the Good Guy side. Dating a superhero is a pain in the ass (Tim himself is terrible dating as a superhero), and he can't really see why anyone bothers if they know the other person is a hero. ]
He sounds nice. I bet he has to break a lot of dates, though. That must suck.
no subject
[ Dating a superhero is easy, from Loki's perspective, but then again he's also out at all hours and dislikes being held to dates, times, places, predictable is boring and he absconds from it.
But with Peter, they match up well. ]
Do you have experience with a superhero blowing off a date?
no subject
[ Interesting? Dependent on the individuals being comfortable with something that fluid and undefined? Bernardās been understanding so far, but Timās sure that thereās a limit. ]
Unique. And I have problems with me blowing off dates. I have a lot of commitments.
no subject
[ There's a moment before he laughs it off. ]
Then don't date anyone, have flings instead. There's nothing wrong with that, especially when you're young and discovering who you are.
no subject
You caught me. Iām the Man of Bats. You probably donāt recognize me without the lifts.
[ But the idea of flings makes him look uncomfortable. Thatās how you end up the next It socialite, but itās more of a female problem. ]
no subject
[ His arm is still slung around Tim and now his other hand comes up to tilt Tim's chin, a crooked finger gliding up his throat. ]
What do you like about this Bernard boy?
no subject
[ Tim will crane his neck to escape the touch. He doesnāt have friends that get this touchy-feely with him. ]
Heās cute. I know youāre not supposed to judge on looks, but um. Yeah. Heās brave, maybe a little dumb because he gets in over his head. Thatās okay because I like being needed. I donāt know. He makes me feel calm? Why does anyone like anyone?
no subject
Exactly how I feel about my boy, then.
no subject
[ Tim gives him a grin. ]
We should do a PSA about how everyoneās the same and post it online.
no subject
[ The network is tiring. ]
I'm happy having you all to myself for now.
no subject
[ Fam, not family. His family has the good graces to just spy on each other lovingly, which is what Tim does as well. ]
I'm going to hope they're all distracted by the chocolate fountain.
no subject
[ When was that wall nearby? How did Loki get Tim backed up by it? He leans on his forearm above Tim, mischief in his eyes but it's the conspiring kind; not the mean sort. ]
How about a reason to get one over on your fam?
no subject
But Loki's offering information of a sort, so Tim doesn't duck away. He will, however, maintain this distance and no closer. ]
It depends on the gossip or reason. If it's fun and harmless, and everyone will laugh when it comes out, then sure.
