Magic. I haven't seen anyone with real magic. How much can you do with it?

You must be one of the heroes pulled here, right?

[ dr. fate . . . who comes up with these names. are you only allowed to be a mystical doctor if your name is stupid enough to match?? ]

You could say that. I'm Loki, God of Mischief.

Loki... is that your hero name, or are you actually the god?

It's my real name.

Now I'm not sure how to feel about some person using my name as an heroic alias.

Well... it would probably be a villainous alias. Like that Maxie Zeus guy from old Gotham.

That is tragic.

Yeah... it'd suck to come to Earth and find that your name was used by a bad guy. Though I don't think Zeus himself ever came to Earth.

He may have, but it was before my arrival. We didn't spend a lot of time on Earth.

I think you must be from a different world. I haven't heard of any Norse gods coming to Earth. Just some of the New Gods and the Greek Gods, and those usually just had Wonder Woman be their representative instead of coming themselves.

[ he shakes his head slowly. ]

If the story exist, then the possibility exist. They may have simply chosen not to return.

That's true. And if they haven't sent any hero representatives, they also haven't sent any trouble our way.

That's for the best, I find. Gods need not meddle with mortals.

Well, sometimes it's better if they do, when their ancient enemies are already messing with Earth. Or when you're stuck among us, like you are right now.

Do you really think it's better?

[qualityfriend]

I mean, the alternative probably would've been Darkseid conquering Earth. And three League members are New Gods who wouldn't have joined if they hadn't gotten involved.

Would Darkseid have come if there were no higher powers on Earth?

[qualityfriend]

I think so. He was looking for... something that could help him control everything, not rival higher powers. At that point Superman was the only one on Earth, anyway, and the next time he tried to enslave Superman, he just brainwashed him.

I see.

This is an interesting case. Usually, Earth is left alone unless higher powers meddle with it.

I guess technically Superman is a higher power who meddled with Earth, but his world was destroyed and he's lived his whole life here- there. Only fanatics say he should leave.

[ ah. he does feel a brief pang for this . . . superman. ]

I lost my planet recently as well.
