[He nods.]

But that... [He glances at the vines sealing the portal.] Was it something else that pulled us back here?

I don't know. There may be other gods in play, who haven't revealed themselves.

I don't care for it. Being yanked around by gods.

[The Ancient did that, too, deciding where they belonged, telling them there was some correct path for them to be on.]

[ loki leans against sephiroth, fingers latching onto fabric. they could have been separated. lost. after all that. it still terrifies him to the core. ]

No. No, we'll have to deal with it.

[Sephiroth is good with that, winding his arms around Loki and gripping his tunic.]

[His grip tightens.]

[ loki tucks himself against sephiroth, holding on just as tight. the void. he hadn't expected to see it there. ]

It shouldn't have been any risk. Neither of us knew.

[ loki exhales quietly. ]

Just as well that we're done with it.

[ though it's a shame he can't go now and kill jenova. he'll have to find another way. ]

[ loki exhales quietly, shaky. yes, they will persevere. he can't let his doubt cloud his judgement.

he's fought for this. and he'll keep fighting. even if he had to cut the throat of every single god there ever was. ]

...let's go home. We can look into killing her later.

[Making sure Loki is all right takes priority. He's learned that.]

[ loki nods, still a little somber. his fingers touch his braid as if to reassure himself. ]

I don't want to linger here.

[Since Loki isn't making any move to do the honors, Sephiroth fishes Loki's guild teleporter out of his pocket. He'll have them back in Sunset Falls in a moment.]

[ loki clasps sephiroth's hand and with a turn of the transporter, they are back. the sight of it relaxes loki, leeches away the earlier panic and fear, even if he still feels a little jilted. he has planned this for so long, overcome so much and for what?

for it to be taken away?

he sighs, slipping his arms around sephiroth, not willing to let go. just. not yet. ]

[That's all right. Sephiroth sets the teleporter on the counter and winds his arms around Loki, holding firm.

He wonders... if that was anything like the void Loki fears. It wasn't empty or weightless as he always imagined. The pressure of being watched... Sometimes you don't know that pressure until it's lifted. He never likes its return.

It will have to be dealt with. The Shining God is making no pretense of benevolence. In a sense, that's less frightening. She won't play the Ancient's games or demand her prices.]
