[ loki hadn't said yes, technically. he could have pretended it never happened. it was all a dream! but it would feel regressive and loki despises the idea of turning the dial back on his own growth.

so he sucks it up, as the humans say. he finds a new restaurant in town, sends a message to balthier and waits. he may not show, but let it never be said loki didn't at least try. ]

[ Upon finding himself lucid after that dream encounter, Balthier had wondered if he'd been too harsh, or if he ought to reach out, and was mulling over inviting both Sephiroth and Loki over one of these weekends when he receives Loki's message. Well, that clears that up.

The other Lokis liked sweets, and while he hardly thinks versions of oneself are the same, he has noticed trends, and so he brings some of the lemon tart he's made for David that week, offering a simple pastry box with a ribbon on it to Loki along with a smile as he sits ]

It's good to see you in the flesh. Sleeping better lately?

[ loki shrugs. ]

Sometimes.

[ neither he nor sephiroth sleep well, but they manage. ]

finally surfacing from these migraines...

Good to see you either way. Here.

[ He offers Loki the home made sweets as he settles in. ]

no worries!

[ loki hesitates for a moment before politely taking one. ]

Hm. I'll take your word for it.

[ he raises a brow ]

Here I thought maybe you enjoyed my company if you were initiating seeing me again.

[ loki gives a soft hum. ]

I'm not much for companionship these days. Too much effort for people who will depart in a heartbeat.

[ new asgard. loki stands by the hill, watching the ships go by. there is so much energy there now. with tourists and aliens mingling freely, it seems so free. not a single touch of gold. it's not what he envisioned but . . . they seem to be happy.

he has to make peace with that. squeezing sephiroth's hand, he smiles. ]

Ready to go down and see?

[Sephiroth isn't sure what he was expecting "New Asgard" to be like, but it seems so... grounded. Not a normal town, but far from a palace. It seems quite lively.

He wonders how Loki feels about returning again. He squeezes back.]

Of course.

[ it's always a little bittersweet. as all things are. loki tugs him along as they make their way into the town. it is a bustling sight. large ships flying overhead, boats on the bay. there are a small gaggle of children by the meadow doing combat instruction. ]

[Sephiroth's gaze lifts to watch the ships overhead.]

You have airships.

[ loki smiles. ]

We do. They were common on Asgard too.

[ kyle likes planning dates.

it's different for everyone, of course. he can't do the same thing he would do with alex or jenny. he can't bring flowers or a chariot and expect it to go well. it is a bit of an adjustment, all of this is. but that's not an issue for kyle. not because he'll nail it. chances are, this may go poorly or he'll put his foot in his mouth. or they both do. neither jason or kyle have been good at keeping their tempers and being in each other's orbit hasn't magically changed that.

it's just . . . given room. or in a strange way, it's just a part they're willing to let be.

kyle found some new hideouts. despite how terrible he is at stealth, he is fairly decent at sleuthing. he had to be, in order to find out about crime lords and whatnot. all in a day's work for a lantern.

once it's done, he texts jason the coordinates to a rooftop. ]

[reneger]

( ominous, contextless coordinates are, in fact, a great way to woo jason todd. there's the initial fuck reaction of what if something is wrong, except it's kyle's number and if someone managed to nail down kyle, they wouldn't be bothering to antagonize jason with it.

unless it was joker.

but joker doesn't give two shits about jason either; he's got bats around to antagonize and while going through jason is an option, he doubts that's what this is. and if it was, he would have also had to knock kyle down, nab his phone, and ring up jason to do so which sounds significantly less entertaining than just broadcasting he's got a lantern and harassing the rest of them with it. he could think it in circles, he is actively running through dozens of potential scenarios on the way even while telling himself it's all stupid and jason's just being--overly paranoid. because he's always overly paranoid. it comes in handy sometimes, it might have come in handy now, but as jason steps onto the roof and spots kyle he figures it was just kyle playing at being mysterious.

it's cute. he's silent in his approach, approaching straight out of the shadows and taking a few steps up so he's close to kyle but not quite within punching distance. rooftop meetups call for gear, and jason's ready for whatever--brown jacket thrown on over his gear, guns holstered, the smarmy little grin on his lips reaching high enough it wrinkles the corners of his eyes under the domino mask. he puts a hand on a hip, leans in close to whisper a soft, )

Boo.

Jesus!

[ kyle starts, giving him a dirty look. ]

Do you all have to sneak up on people?

[reneger]

( kyle jumps, and jason laughs, quiet and short enough it's--just barely a step away from being considered a giggle. bat skills come in handy for more than just fucking up gangsters. )

Have to? Nah. But I like watching you squirm.

[torchbearer]

[ kyle gives him a flat look. ]

I'm not a worm on a hook.

[reneger]

You sure?

( look, he's even--taking a step in closer to kyle. did kyle invite him out for a specific reason? clearly that's irrelevant, antagonizing him is more important. )

( closed to sephiroth, aftermath )

[ after the shining god expels them back, they arrive at meta, a little shaken. at least loki certainly is. ]

What was that?

[Sephiroth is a little shaken, and a little angry.]

...what was she doing in there?

It seems she has more control than we thought.

[ loki is still trembling a little. she could have tossed them into the void. the void. ]

[Recognizing that, Sephiroth reaches for Loki's shoulders to stead him.]

We're here though.

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki clasps his hand. ]

Are you all right?

[unkindled_madness]

[He nods.]

I'm all right.

But that... [He glances at the vines sealing the portal.] Was it something else that pulled us back here?
