[ kyle gives him a look. ]

I really don't want to know what kind of dates you have.

Pending how you're counting 'em, this's my--sixth?

( he's grinning at kyle, reaching to grab hold of his wrist. )

An' they've all ended with someone getting fucked over.

[torchbearer]

That's pretty normal in our line of work.

[ though he has had normal dates. and some not so normal. ]

Jen and I used to go flying a lot.

[reneger]

Lo and I'd break into rich assholes' houses an' rob them blind.

( because thievery is clearly a fun date idea. )

Isabel - I'd taken on a normal date, which ended in her being kidnapped into space, so. Didn't happen again.

Yeah, that's usually how it pans out.

[ he remembers when his date with alex was interrupted by mongul. that had been a pain and he was lucky superman came around. ]

[reneger]

But you an' I'd be fine.

( with kyle's wrist in hand, jason raises it up to his mouth. presses lips to the base of kyle's palm. )

Space kidnapping can't fuck us over. Much.

[ kyle can't help but smile, soft at the corners. ]

No. It's not going to fuck us over.

[reneger]

Yeah.

( it's always a worry, isn't it. the value of having a relationship versus how bad ly one can fuck the person over by them just existing in the same space. jason had told junior that kyle's fine because jason most likely can't break him by accident, which--is a lot of the reason why he's letting himself get this involved. he's still plenty afraid of how badly kyle can break him, but there's not shit he can do to avoid that. jason's already in too deep.

jason reaches his free hand out towards kyle, brushes his thumb along the corner of his lips while his hand settles against his neck. )

Take off the mask.

[torchbearer]

[ kyle hesitates for a moment because even now, he gets nervous about his identity. not that he's very good at hiding it, but alex's death and the encounters in his life still make him cagey. the other lanterns don't hide, but kyle hides. he's still hiding.

but the mask slowly fades away. ]

[reneger]

( the mask fades, and jason offers kyle a toothy little grin.

leans in close, to press a kiss against the corner of kyle's eye. just the softest press of lips against skin; there's no intent, he's--just happy to have the contact. )

You're gorgeous.

[torchbearer]

[ there is a faint brush of pink across his cheeks. ]

Am I?

[reneger]

( the grin turns downright feral as he stays pressed close to kyle. feels the heat of that flush against his lips. jason doesn't move away, just--stays close. )

Don't be shy. You know damn well how pretty you are.

[torchbearer]

[ kyle huffs lightly at that, bemused. ]

Is that right? I'll have to remember that.

[reneger]

You know what else you are?

( it's murmured soft, lips trailing down kyle's cheek, down to his jawline where jason--nips softly. he's still smiling.

he's probably up to something. )

[ kyle can smell a plot, but why not see where this goes. ]

What else?

[reneger]

( he almost, almost throws kyle off the roof again. but he'd told him to take off the mask, and while he's absolutely certain kyle could catch himself and be fine, the two seconds of flailing might be enough to catch someone else's attention, and while kyle's not subtle, jason's not out to out anyone.

so instead he shoves his hand against kyle's shoulder to push him flat on his back on the roof. leans over him. )

Easy to distract.

[ kyle lets out an oof sound, but years of being manhandled has gotten him used to this and he curls his arms around jason. ]

Shouldn't you be proud of that?

[reneger]

I trained under Batman, remember? And Talia al Ghul.

( kyle curls around him, and jason's leaning down into his space. noses in against the side of his neck. )

If I couldn't catch you off guard, I'd need to go back to batschool.

[torchbearer]

[ kyle twitches at the mention of al ghul. he has never quite gotten over the danger ra's put the league through. ]

They have a school now?

[reneger]

( the al ghuls have caused a lot of problems over the years, jason's not even sure what kyle's getting twitchy over, but he notices it. opts not to say shit, but--he'll remember that, for future purposes. )

You never noticed the wing in the manor with all the little desks? ( there's a teasing lilt to his tone, and jason moves his arm over to--box in kyle a little. it hides his face from outsiders, in case anyone does manage to get a peek over at them without them noticing--just in case. )

You wanna go get a closer look at their tech? Or do you wanna make out up here, just a few yards away from the big bads?

[torchbearer]

[ kyle grins, pressing a kiss to his jaw. ]

Why not both? We can multi-task.

[reneger]

Mm, I don't think we can. Unless, ( jason's head tips, gives kyle more room to work with while he kisses along his jawline. ) we start makeouts now, then go check out their shit, an' then maybe head back to your place.

( the tips of his ears are flushed, as is his neck and cheeks. but nobody needs to comment on that. )

[ perfect, because he is absolutely going to do that. ]

( jason's throwing kyle another cocky grin, before he's moving a hand to thread fingers through kyle's hair, keeps his weight on his elbow while he leans down and presses another kiss to his lips.

it's deeper this time, soft but exploratory. kyle's still new to him, or at least this part of kyle is. and jason wants to make sure he's--touching and kissing him properly, how kyle likes to be touched and kissed. he's not rushing, not pushing, just--following the cues he's given. )

[ no, there's no rush. every touch kyle gives is reverent sometime, but lately he's been feeling bolder. like the ground under his feet has become more solid. and the point isn't him anyway, it's about jason. he wants to make it all about jason.

after a while, once they crack some beers, kyle makes a note of the movement at the warehouse. not today, but tomorrow perhaps they should hit it and hit it hard. ]
