[Now that Mechanima and the Society have lifted their control over Central City's borders and the teleporters between various American locations are properly working again, it's easier for visitors to come by again.

As usual, Descendant Karaoke Bar and Lounge is open for business and now hoping that they can have more customers again. Civilian or criminal; temporarily depowered or not; people will want a drink and/or blow off some steam.

This month's popular songs include hits such as It's Not Right But It's Okay, Escape (The Piña Colada Song), Don’t Stop Believin’, and Summer Nights.

The Coyote Ugly Nights were successful despite previous travel restrictions so now these events are happening at least twice a week, depending on which employees are available to dance or do extra security. The social media posts advertising the business and showing off performances are still in full swing as well.

Or you can just drop by during a normal day/evening. As Descendant's official owner, Jason can be found doing things like bartending, serving particularly close attention to the VIPs, or just in the reading room taking a break.

Happy(?) Birthday (In-game date: August 16th):

[It's Jason's birthday and it… might be a mixed bag for him. Previous birthdays have wildly varied from depressing, bittersweet, and for a short while, actually happy. This year things with his family could be better but they could also be worse. There's also no doubt that this year he has people he genuinely cares about and who would care that it's his birthday. It gets confusing having so many ambiguous feelings.

In the hopes of minimizing potentially awkward conversations, he's taking a day-off from Descendant, sleeping in a little and perhaps going out later in the day to treat himself to a new book and his favorite foods.

Maybe you can catch him when he's out and about]

[She would say more but there's Jason with the drinks. She receives the other tankard with another "thank you", and examines the drink as she listens.]

Yeah, I'm thinking we give a shot for the season and see where it goes from there. It might get popular enough to keep it all year round. Mead's not the most common drink around these days.

He can at least see why Loki likes mead, he decides, as he takes a sip.]

The nice thing about modern meads is that many supplement with fruit. Mayuko does love her fruity drinks; this is going on her favorites list.]

Mmm-- it could be of interest to him!

[She wouldn't presume to anticipate Loki's precise feelings on the matter. While she's on better terms with him, he's still technically her boss. Overplaying the encouragement might dissuade Sephiroth, so she beams at Jason.]

Soooo, how is the fundraising going? Close to the goal yet?

Every little bit counts so sure.

[Then he turns back to Mayuko]

It's still gonna take some time but we're getting there. It's definitely been going faster ever since we started doing Coyote Ugly.

[Sephiroth recognizes that as the sort of vague answer that might technically be true, but is far from comprehensive. But it also isn't really his business, so he'll take it.]

I see. I'll wish you luck with it. It's probably more difficult in an area where ghosts aren't driving down property values.

[Mayuko snerks into her drink.]

Ghosts would be more of an aberration in Central, wouldn't they! Not unheard of... But yes, happy to hear it's progressing!

[Speaking of ghosts, though, she's starting to feel a tingle in the small of her back. Which means her phone is vibrating, which means her ghostie-&-doggie-cam alert is going off. The joys of "parenthood". She finishes her tankard and smiles apologetically.]

I'm sorry, I've got to take a call really quick-- line up another drink for me, I will be right back!

[At least Sephiroth will be easy to find again (she anticipates, veering into hope) She takes a moment to orient herself before beelining to the ladies' room.]

Are you acquainted with Loki?

Nah, not really. We've only really talked once last year when he was holding a party at the theater. I just figured you were talking about the same Loki.

[Nope. Not counting Red Hood encounters at all...]

[Hmm. Well, they aren't exactly secretive.]

I was. He is... my Loki.

None of the others remain, at the moment.

[There were plenty of situations Mayuko could anticipate, but guiding a trio of flustered nonverbal-but-very-noisy entities out of a misadventure remotely was not on the list. Her ears would be ringing the rest of the night.

But her eyes were still doing fine. As she catches sight of the latest performer on the bar top (is it Dick? it's probably Dick), she forgets for the moment she should be heading back to Sephiroth. Perfect time to catch her by herself.]

[After talking to Sephiroth for a bit, Jason remembers that Mayuko wanted another drink so he goes back to the bar to get one ready. He's got another tankard of mead ready by the time he catches Mayuko... enjoying another performance]

[As nice as it is to spectate, it's not why she came over for a visit. She shifts a little, redirecting her attention to Jason.]

Great now that the those guards are gone and the Society finally ditched border patrol. The business has been bouncing back.

[Which is the truth. On the personal front, things have... been rougher but Jason would rather put up a front for now]

[However the private conversation with Jason goes, Mayuko does venture back to find Sephiroth. She checks the reading room first before heading to the main serving area, looking for his white head of hair. He might have taken a seat but... he did want to take notes on the performance. He shouldn't be difficult to find, question mark?]

[Sephiroth has not taken a seat, because somehow he feels doing so would be more likely to invite conversation from strangers, so it's relatively easy to spot his silver head towering above the other customers. He is watching the current performance with the same neutral curiosity as before, but he glances aside at Mayuko's approach.]

[Mayuko retakes her spot by Sephiroth, a hand fluffing her bangs away to keep them from sticking to her forehead.]

Just one of my ghosts thinking Athena's owl is an indoors pet, when she is very much not.
