[OPEN] Maybe not a literal monster mash
Who: Jason Todd
robintohood and you. Also a mingle!
What: Various antics at Descendant Karaoke Bar and Lounge during October
When: Throughout October
Where: Central City
Content Warnings: N/A for now. Will edit if needed.
[There may be some changes to the timeline now but Descendant Karaoke Bar and Lounge is still open for business. There are always people looking to have a good time drinking and blowing off some steam with a good song. It doesn’t matter if they’re ordinary civilians or some of Central City’s more... colorful characters. Just be nice to the bouncers and check your weapons by the entrance first.
To reflect the fall season, Descendant has included seasonal drinks like pumpkin beer, apple cocktails, and spiced maple bourbon.
Meanwhile, some of this month's most popular songs seem to be reflecting Halloween, such as Highway to Hell and Monsters. Or maybe you want to do a more classy number like Witchcraft? Descendant looks like a speakeasy after all. And in a total coincidence, Time Warp has also shown up on the popularity chart.
If you drop by at Descendant on a Coyote Ugly Night, you’ll find the atmosphere considerably wilder and wetter. You might’ve even already seen some of the social media posts and videos of the employees performing. They certainly look like they’re having a good time.
Perhaps you’re coming in during a more normal time. Come by for a drink. Maybe rent a private karaoke room or karaoke on stage in front of others if you’re feeling brave. There are some bar games around too.
You can always just people watch as well. Those who are especially observant might notice that some of Descendant’s customers are a bit... furtive as they keep their heads low or quickly scurry to one of the private rooms.
There’s always the reading room too for those who want a more quiet ambiance.
And then there's the very select few who are allowed upstairs in the attic apartment.
Whatever the case may be, Jason will be around. As Descendant’s owner, he’s a busy guy with plenty he has to do]
((OOC: Jason will be around but feel free to mingle! My contact information is on this journal's profile and I'm in the game's Discord server. Also feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns as well. I also have a feedback post.))

Tim does his best to finish up the customer he's serving and beeline for her, which brings a few quiet grumble-laughs from the other bar patrons. On one hand, some of them wanted his attention. On the other hand, they'd be going to Diana first too. ]
Hey! I wasn't expecting you here. What or who can I get you?
no subject
[ She warms immediately, smiling over at the young man as he approaches and straightening from her drink, a glass of red wine of indeterminate provenance which one of the other bartenders had given her. ]
I thought I'd come see it for myself. This is quite an impressive establishment.
[ That smile quirks a little more toward 'amused.' ]
Well, who is available?
no subject
Jason did a good job setting it up. I guess it turns out he has an eye for things like that?
[ He shrugs and smirks back. ]
For your bartending needs, me. For your hanging-out off-the-clock purposes, I can drag up any of my brothers and a few of their friends on extremely short notice. If we're going for specific meanings of available, I think Alejandro's single.
[ It doesn't even occur to him to include Bruce in the single calculations, and any of the Robins would just be odd to joke about here. ]
no subject
A thorough answer. If any of those options strike my fancy, I'll be sure to let you know.
[ The service here really is excellent. She gives the new drink a curious glance, but patiently works away at the one she has for the moment. There's no need to waste it. ]
Has everyone recovered from the events surrounding our little trip?

[Not every friendly face at the bar is working, at least one of them is there in support of those with less shame. Barbara takes a seat next to her, sliding close to be heard over any noise.]
It's so good to see you. Glad to see you made it back from the field trip.
no subject
[ Her delight at seeing the other woman is immediately clear, and she shifts to turn more towards her visitor. ]
Yes, all in one piece. And how are you? You're looking very well.
no subject
And it doesn't matter since Diana is always a welcome surprise. ]
Still in one piece and the only one of me, so far. Have you met all the Dicks, Jasons, and Tims?
no subject
[ Still strange to think about, though not wholly out of her realm of understanding. She lifts her glass for a sip of wine. ]
I've heard there was another version of me here, before. I admit, I'm a little relieved not to have to navigate that particular situation. It's strange enough to be known already by people I have not yet met.

Hey. Glad you could stop by.

[ Her smile is warm, if a little distracted. ]
Congratulations. Your establishment is really very impressive. And comfortable.

[He's already thinking about what top shelf drinks he could offer]

[ It's nice to see Jason in this element, turning his formidable skill set toward running a successful business. She wants to encourage him as much as possible. ]
Left to my own devices, I'd likely just have wine, but I'd enjoy learning about the other options.

But what’s he supposed to do? The attic fridge is out of ice, so Nico is scooping ice into a jug with grey-ish powder and using one of the bars spray taps to fill it with water to make blue Kool-aid.
That’s the plan, anyway. He didn’t think he’d get distracted and overflow the jug, but he also didn’t think he’d see someone who, at first glance, looks like an older Thalia Grace.
And doesn’t that just make for a complicated mess. Nico scrambles to wipe it up before it creeps across the bar and drips onto her lap. ]
Sorry.
no subject
No harm done.
[ She puts assurance into her voice, even as her glance flicks to the sword he wears. Interesting. ]
A slightly sticky bar never hurt anyone.
no subject
he slides up beside her with two glasses of whiskey in hand, slides one across the table so it's in front of her before jason's making himself comfortable next to her - not so close he's invading her space, but close enough it's obvious he's here for her. )
Thought you'd come check out Junior's bar?
no subject
[ She stops the whiskey glass with a light touch, then smiles over at him, warm. ]
Hello, Jason. It's nice to see you. How has everything been?
no subject
( it's not really what she's looking for, but he's--settling in comfortably, and reaching to unzip the leather jacket he's wearing. just enough that the puppy who'd settled deep inside of it shoves his face out the opening, giving a little excited yip. )
B's already getting the hang of leaving his orphan hoard with anyone else while he fucks off.
no subject
[ But she's startled away from anything else for a moment by the appearance of... is that Bruce's puppy? ]
What – ?
[ She reaches to stroke the puppy's head, more out of reflex than by design. ]
Do you... know where he is?

You look a little too worried for the sort of establishment we are in, Diana. [ She slides onto the seat next to hers, offering a little smile. ] What troubles you?
no subject
[ She smiles to see the other woman, relieved to have a distraction from her preoccupation and to see Ororo looking well and healthy, both. ]
Just a little distracted. A little trouble with a friend.
But it's wonderful to see you. How have you been?
no subject
And yet it's almost never fights of that nature that have people like them ruminating like this over a drink. ]
Is it the sort of trouble that can be solved by a drink? [ She is well aware that there's not a lot of trouble that can be solved by drinks. Ororo smiles a little. ] Or is it the kind that can be helped with a little outside advice?

And for that, she is endlessly grateful to both Ororo and Carol.
Sometimes, it's easier to bear the burden of displacement when not alone.
Jean's just nipping back from a trip to the bathroom when she spots the woman who's been sitting at a table off and on alone through the night. She was more animated when people stopped by, but subject to a cloud that lingered around her whether they were there or not; just a touch stronger when they weren't, and there's something all too familiar in that. And Jean, feeling lighter than in days, for a given definition of the words, stops by, unable not to wish she could spread that to others who look in need.
Not too close to be invasive or assumptive, she starts with a smile. ]
Excuse me if I'm overstepping, but—are you alright? I've noticed you over here, mostly alone, through the night. Hopefully, you aren't waiting for someone who still hasn't shown.
no subject
I'm fine. But thank you, I appreciate the concern. As for waiting...
[ That smile slips sideways, turning wry. ]
I think I'd be waiting a very long time if I were. But I see you have some friends here.
[ She smiles as she glances over the crowd to where Ororo sits, stunning as always. ]
As a matter of fact, I know one. Ororo and I met in our first days here.
no subject
[ More than. But there are less applicable words for someone whose would you have stood inside of, and someone you would glad both lay down yours for and hand it to their keeping even when you couldn't be trusted to. And not only her, but all else—and everyone therein—she held dear. ]
She's the very best.
