[ loki hesitates because it's clear it's not. and while he is more firm about who he is, accepting all parts of himself . . . he hasn't worn the helm since ragnarok. ]

No. But perhaps it's best to leave it in the past.

[ loki looks like he wants to protest but it settles on bemusement. ]

You don't think it looks silly?

It does seem to discourage proximity.

Thor had silver wings and I had golden horns. We made jokes about them all the time.

What sort of jokes?

I'd call him a chicken and he'd call me a cow.

They're basic, but I can see the humor.

[ loki smiles faintly for a moment. then he lets the scenery melt away with an illusion. they're back on asgard with the starry night sky gleaming in front of them. there's a balcony with thor and loki standing in front, complete with armor and helms. younger with thor and loki's hair cut short at the neck.

"soon, brother, we'll be side by side forever," thor promises, his hand clasped around loki's neck. they press their foreheads together, their helms touching. then the scene slowly dissolves and they're back in sunset falls. with loki holding the helm in his hands. ]

[Sephiroth watches the scene with a twinge of jealousy, and anger. Thor meant so much to Loki--then made him false promises and abandoned him. "Side by side forever." Sephiroth means that when he says it, but Thor made it a harder thing to trust.

It doesn't seem the right time to express that. Loki's feelings about Thor are much less straightforward than his own. He should be given the space for them.]

...moving on is not forgetting.

[ it wasn't simply thor's promise. loki had broken his oath too. undying fidelity. and here he was. his thumb rubs the ridges of his helm. he had been so proud then. finally of age. a glittering future.

his future now is no less glittery or bright. and he has one, he knows the shape of it. ]

Mm. I'm not sure what I'm doing with it then.

[ loki sounds unsure, as if he himself hasn't come with a conclusion. ]

[ he smiles but his heart isn't in it. he lets the helm vanish. ]

[Sephiroth nods.]
