[ he should have known better.

after all, loki has caused mischief just like this. around this time of year. but lately, his guard has been slipping. he has things in his life he's looking forward to and in a strange way, they occupy his mind far more than anything else. and loki has always been weak for sweets.

it was like an itch. everything felt heightened. all those thoughts swirled to the top, eating up his every moment. why was he even waiting to get married? they should get married now! or just take someone's house! why was he bothering with the delay?

he tugs at the collar, trying to push those feelings down as the frenetic energy builds. ]

Is it warm today?

[Sephiroth has just emerged from the bathroom, having spent... a while in there. Longer than usual, although it is his hairwashing day, so that always takes him some time.

He still has most of it wrapped in a towel, and the roots are still silver but there might be a tinge of... green? farther down.

He responds distractedly, frowning.]

Perhaps a bit.

[ loki squints at him for a moment. ]

Is your hair green?

...it's temporary.

[ it's distracting enough that loki's feelings are muted a little. ]

How did it happen?

I suspect Tina. She has tried putting dye in my conditioner before.

[He may be reconsidering whether she gets a room in the new house.]

[ normally, he wouldn't show his expression so openly, but the red candy has his faint smile into a full blown one. ]

At least it washed off.

[It has not, in fact, washed off. You just don't apply conditioner from the roots.]

[ after the events of starstruck and the shining god, kyle had hoped things would settle for a bit. even out. kyle finds himself unsettled though. the idea of going back in time and seeing alex was a burr, stuck to his clothes. he felt the tell-tale prick, of how close he had been. a temptation that had been dangled in front of him many times.

he dodged it now, he's dodged it before, but how many times could he hold out?

kyle is avoiding it. he's avoiding a lot of things. he could feel it now. the starheart was coming alive. ion was coming back.

he sighs, pausing his flight to land on a roof. he eyes a gang making its way in the darkness. his suit flickers with starlight. ]

[reneger]

( jason's got his own mess of bullshit he's working through.

the nightmare, the dying and being controlled by black lantern batman, the mess of other bullshit that'd happened before and after the world had come undone and been shoved back together again. it's kept him--preoccupied more often than not, head running through the mess of memories, trying to fit them all together like puzzle pieces even though some of them are contradictory. at the very least, he's longsince given up on trying to make sense of his life. it's a fucked up mess and there is no sense to make of it.

but him being stuck in his own head is also how kyle manages to sneak up on him. he's lurking in a dark and quiet corner on the rooftop, watching the skyline when kyle drops down close by. he watches for a moment, waits until kyle gets distracted before jason's quietly approaching from behind him. reaches both hands out with a grin, intent on wrapping them around kyle's waist.

he may or may not get the shit beaten out of him, trying to spook kyle. but it'd be worth it. )

[torchbearer]

[ there's a blast of green energy that sends jason flying before kyle even realizes it. ]

— Shit, shit. Jason?!

[reneger]

( jason's only human. one with real good reflexes, but not one that can stop a green lantern blast like that. his arms move up to guard his neck and head as he goes flying back, rams his back into the wall guarding the staircase back down off of the building. soon as he gets over the initial impact, he's laughing, loud and obnoxiously.

doesn't bother getting up from where he's landed on the ground. )

You gotta start watching your back better, Lantern.

( see, he can be respectful of secret IDs. when he feels like it. )

[ lord. kyle runs his hands over his hair before heading over, handing jason his hand. ]

You ass. I could have killed you.

[reneger]

I ain't afraid of you.

( which may or may not be part of the problem. not that jason's bothered by it. he's grinning up at kyle and takes his hand. uses it to pull himself back up to his feet. )

[torchbearer]

[ kyle doesn't say he should be. jason probably thinks the same thing now and then. being in orbit is a scary and heady feeling and sometimes you want to bail. not that kyle knew how. no one's ever showed him how to leave.

he checks out jason to see if he left any injuries. ]

At least you're in one piece.

[reneger]

( a little bruised, maybe, but jason's always some level of bruised and fucked up. it comes with the job; he's durable but not unbreakable. but he lets kyle look him over regardless, figures it'll make him feel better. )

( arcadia, dinos + power cuts, ota )

[ gabby has never actually watched jurassic park. she's never had time to sit down and watch a movie. one of the things chandler made sure all his assassins knew to some degree was popular culture. part of her education, so to speak. after all, they needed to blend in.

so when the power went out in arcadia and gabby was looking at all her fences that lacked power, she paused. ]

Ohhhh, so this is what happened in the movie.

[This was supposed to be a chill couple of hours hanging out with a brat and seeing some dinosaurs, but Accelerator supposes when you're dealing with a dino zoo this kind of thing is inevitable. It's been years, but he's seen Jurassic Park. He knows how this goes.

Pinching the bridge of his nose, he signs before reaching down to switch modes on his choker and grab the fence. Yep, the lack of vectors from an electrical current make this thing feel dead as a doorknob. He changes modes again, leaning heavily on his crutch.]

Is there a backup generator?

[Hold up, he looks over at her -]

Wait, you haven't seen Jurassic Park?

[honeybadgerer]

I've only been out of the facility for a couple of months. I haven't had time to watch movies.

[ the life of a comic book character is very busy. ]

And I think there's one. By the entrance.

[levelshift]

[He might be making a mental note of that information for later. For now he turns away from the fence, clicking his tongue.]

We need to round up the dangerous dinosaurs before they start eating people, then go turn the generator on. Hopefully the damn thing works.

[honeybadgerer]

I'll be okay.

Will you be okay? They get very bitey at night.

[levelshift]

It's not a problem.

[He does pause, though.]

You want these things kept alive, right? [Since they're just animals and all....]

[honeybadgerer]

Yeah, no killing.

[ her voice is firm. ]

I can drive them back.

[levelshift]

'Kay.

[That makes things a little more difficult, holding back is harder than going all out, but between the two of them it should be fine.]

You know how to control the force of your attacks enough to knock them out?

[ this felt a bit like ghostbusters. where they had to fight the pillsbury doughboy.

except it's the iron giant. kyle sighs, readying his power. it's nice not to focus through the ring, except ion is everywhere and he could feel all his senses being called upon. like superman with his super hearing. it's a lot. he glances at whoever is nearby. ]

This feels like hurting my childhood.
