What: Fancy Opening Night
When: May 11th
Where: The Opherium, Central City
Content Warnings: n/a
( i. grand opening — mingle and drinks )
[ welcome to the opherium. open to all metas, provided youāre up to the dress code. so make sure youāre dressed to the gills with your fanciest clothes or you might just be asked to leave. youāre ushered into a grand hall. there are appetizers like shrimp cocktails and little quiches placed on large tables for you to nibble on and champagne glasses being passed around by waiters. located in the middle is a large chocolate fountain for all you dessert lovers (loki. itās for loki). grab yourself a drink and go hit up a familiar face. ]
( ii. dance dance )
[ and of course, once the mingling and networking is done, the staff come to clear the chairs away and leave plenty of room on the dance floor. the lights go dim, casting soft shadows against the wall. slow waltzes begin to filter through the hall as gently encouragement to go find a partner, maybe hold them close, enjoy a little . . . company and more.
or maybe you just want an excuse to step on someoneās foot. equally valid. in fact, there might be a little magic in the air that tugs you towards someone you want to be with . . . ]
( iii. star gazing )
[ the party is winding down. maybe youāre ready to go back. curl up on bed after a late night with drinks and dancing. or perhaps youāre feeling a touch of wistfulness, a need to seclude yourself after all that jazz. consider then, finding yourself a nice quiet corner on the upper levels of the theatre, where there are some nice balconies for you to collect yourself.
and there are always the stars to keep you company. ]

Can you try to stop presuming the worst of me? It lends little impetus to be around someone constantly taking digs at you.
no subject
[ Tim, who had slipped into something less manufactured, retreats back to polite. ]
I know someone here's a lightweight. I'll get them to a trash can if the floor's in peril.
no subject
[ He watches him steadily now, the chagrin and manners returning. There's a sharp dichotomy to when Tim is feeling witty and feisty, or being submissive when the former is pointed out. ]
I don't mind that back and forth, but I'd rather get to know you.
no subject
How do you know that that's not actually me? You might've been getting what you want, rather than what you expect.
no subject
I don't think you're a dick, Tim.
I just want you to know I have THREE icons of Tim's hair getting ruffled.
Tim tries to duck, laughing almost instantly, but yet never seeming to get away from his hair getting mussed. He could, maybe, but he kind of loves it when people pay attention and ruffle his hair. ]
I'm not, okay, I'm not. I just know one in real life.
no subject
And who would that be, o'enigmatic one?
no subject
Aw, quit it! If I get stuff on the floor, I'll get bounced. My brother, okay? But he's not in this world, so I've got no proof.
no subject
[ Loki makes sure his friends are treated well, Tim, no fear. ]
Sounds like your brother is a handful.
no subject
[ Gatecrashing for fun and stalking. Someone who can talk their way out of getting kicked out is a good plus one. ]
Heās not a handful. Heās confident and maybe something of a free spirit, but heās great.
[ There will be no bonding over brotherly conflict if the brother in question is Dick Grayson. ]
no subject
[ He gives Tim's fussy hands something to do by looping his wrists around Loki's neck, peering down at him. Pay attention.
That's the best way he knows to get an honest answer or two out of Tim. ]
Do you want to keep talking about your brother or do you want to dance?
no subject
[ He was absolutely wheedling in an attempt to give Loki space to be cocky and maybe even preen, and then he lost complete control of the situation in what, three seconds? Tim isn't smooth, and neither are the people he dates, and that was pretty slick to an 18-year-old. He catches his bottom lip and tries to avoid publicly humiliating himself. ]
Oh. Um.
[ It's harmless, right? It's a crowded party, and half the people that he knows are stuffing their faces. Walking away now would make a scene. (And Loki's taller and broader with floppy hair and a strong jaw.)
Except Tim's not going to entertain that, because the cardinal rule of getting to know gods should be don't get to know them carnally. This is just a dance. So his ears only go shell pink, rather than red. ]
Yeah. We can dance, but I only know how to lead.
no subject
[ Loki blinks down with a soft, assenting expression as he guides them onto the dancefloor, letting Tim lead if he feels more comfortable with that. It's not as if Loki can't do it both ways. One arm remains in the small of Tim's back as they move slowly and the other takes one of Tim's hands, warm in Loki's cold palm, as if they really are dancing like Adults(TM). He winks conspiringly. ]
There you go, you're good at this.
no subject
[ Tim does take the lead, at least in the dance, and he steers them in a perfectly respectable waltz. Maybe even too boring, because he doesn't add in any reverse turns or cross steps to make things more interesting or draw too much attention. ]
Your hand is freezing. Scandinavian thing, or does someone need to tell you about the dangers of poor circulation?
no subject
It's an invitation to warm me up.
[ Does Tim really expect a straight answer? ]
no subject
I'm already holding your hand. I didn't bring gloves; it's not white tie.
no subject
No, see, then you would say something charming, like, That could take all night. Understand?
[ Flirting 101. ]
no subject
No, that could take all night, if you want me to say it without being embarrassed.
[ Which he is, somewhat, although Tim understands that Loki's just winding him up. He holds himself a little taller and goes for something more confidant, trying to at least describe what he's seen people do, if not do it. He doesn't nail the tone, and again lands on nervous. ]
Because, then, I'd be expected to dip you and pull you up close to set you up for a saucy remark.
no subject
[ That's where he's slingshotting that remark, take that for your saucy tone, Tim. ]
You couldn't dip me if you tried, I'm about a foot taller than you, and I also weight a great deal more than I think you expect.
no subject
[ Or he wasnāt until just then. Heād rushed to defend himself as being unembarrassed by wanting to kiss boys. Which heās not. Self conscious, yes, and thereās another check to where last saw people he knows because. Itās one thing to tell people that youāre bisexual and another to put on a demonstration.
Timās been trying to avoid thinking too hard about the dance. People dance with people they donāt want to kiss all the time, and he doesnāt even know if he wants to - but heās definitively implied he did want to in that retort.
If he spent more time in the sun, he might have more of a defence against blushing, but more than half of his waking hours are lit by moonlight and blue light monitors. Heās a tomato.
Which is why heās just going to dip Loki and take his chances on the distraction. ]
At your height, you weigh what? 200? Maybe 220. I can do it if you use your core and I put some of your weight on my thigh.
[ Shifting his hand into a better position, he spins them and tries to maneuver Loki into a deeper dip, the kind the partner has to extend into. ]
no subject
I'm not risking falling on top of you and breaking your leg.
[ Tim does get a peck on the forehead for his enthusiasm, though. ]
no subject
[ His mouth is just a thin flat line, on the cusp of an actual frown. He's going to sulk over this particular trick, and his hands push harder at Loki. For a short nerd, Tim's got decent strength. ]
What is it? Superstrength? You could let me win, you know, and you're not going to break my leg. I'm tougher than I look.
[ Stupid metas, we hates them, he thinks to himself. They set you up to feel silly and then make it worse by kissing you on the forehead.
Tim should probably put a stop to that. And maybe to the dance, since they have come to a stop anyway, with Loki unmoving. ]
I'm kinda seeing someone. Back home. Not that this is - you should just know.
no subject
[ Loki slides his arm around Tim's neck and gives him a nudge to head off the dancefloor with him. More drinks! ]
Who are you seeing back home? Did they make skyfall here?
no subject
Although he doesn't pick up on the more drinks idea and stops way short of the bar. ]
A guy I went to school with. His name's Bernard.
[ He gets a stupidly shy/happy expression on his face. (Dopey. The word is dopey.) ]
Sorry... I haven't really said that a lot yet. He's not here. I tried to find him on OurPowers and couldn't find a Bernard Dowd anywhere.
no subject
[ It's worth asking! He's nosy. How sweet for Tim, the blushing little maniac that he is. ]
