What: It's their friendiversary! Smoochiversary? They've been Something for a year.

[Things have been a little shaky between them of late, but as they promised at the start, they are working to mend it. This relationship, whatever anyone might want to call it, has lasted a full year. It's an achievement that Sephiroth would not have thought himself capable of... connecting with someone, and holding onto that connection.

That seems worthy of acknowledgement, even celebration. Perhaps especially because of Loki's recent doubts, Sephiroth has taken it upon himself to create a memorable evening.

Or at least try to? He does not have Loki's dramatic flair. He does, however, arrive at Loki's door with a bouquet he chose himself after researching flower meanings, because research he can do.]

[ loki isn't sure what to expect, but he does dress nicely in his black suit and green scarf draped over his shoulders. his expression softens at the sight of the flowers. ]

You chose these yourself?

[Sephiroth dressed up a bit himself, wearing a suit and one of the more colorful (green) shirts Loki persuaded him into.]

Yes.

I did not arrange them, but I did select the flowers. I believe they each have a meaning.

[ loki eyes him curiously. ]

Talk me through them?

[Oh. He's supposed to explain?]

Are you unfamiliar with the language of flowers?

[It seems like a thing Loki would know!]

I'm curious.

[ he has some idea, but he wants to hear what sephiroth thought. ]

Indulge me?

[unkindled_madness]

[Sephiroth nods. All right then. He starts from the outsisde in, gesturing.]

These mean that I am thinking of you. And these are for lasting friendship, and lasting interest. These small ones represent a hidden worth...

Purple hydrangeas in particular are given to express gratitude for being understood.

[...yeah there's one more still!]

[ there is, but loki takes pity on him as he brings the bouquet inside and sets it into a vase. the apartment looks the same as ever, but there's a strange glimmer around the walls if you get too close. but it's not noticeable from a glance. ]

Well, I love them. Thank you. You gave it a lot of thought.

[Oh. Okay. He has escaped the L word for now.

Sephiroth follows him inside, but remains near the entryway. He glances around; are Thor's decorations still there?]

I wanted to give you something meaningful.

[ no. any sign of thor's existence seems to have been removed, leaving the apartment looking oddly bare and bereft. ]

You did. What gave you the idea to pick flowers?

[Well, there's been a lot going on lately. Maybe Loki hasn't been able to make it a priority.]

...I confess I did seek advice.

There is no shame in it.

To me, it shows you gave me consideration.

[ his fingers brush against the petals as his face grows soft. ]

And I appreciate that.

[Sephiroth relaxes a bit.]

...I'm glad you like them.

[dothelokimotion]

They're beautiful.

[ he smiles faintly before pulling away. loki then moves over to sephiroth's side, leaning to press a kiss to his cheek. ]

Shall we?

Of course.

[He offers Loki his arm.]

...I hope you don't mind a short walk.

[He does not have the cash to throw at a horse-drawn carriage, sorry. But the more downtown area isn't too far!]

I think I can manage a short walk.

[ he artfully takes sephiroth's arm. ]

[Sephiroth leads them out of the apartment onto the sidewalk, and it's then that he asks:]

Do you know what day it is?

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki frowns lightly, turning it over. ]

No?

[unkindled_madness]

[He's not surprised.]

...it's been a year since we affirmed our friendship.

[dothelokimotion]

[ oh. oh. loki turns to sephiroth, surprised, a light dusting of pink on his cheeks. ]

You . . . remembered the date?

[unkindled_madness]

It was a significant moment, for me.

[dothelokimotion]

[ a significant moment. enough so that he was mindful of the date. loki was touched. ]

For both of us.

[unkindled_madness]

And... significant, I think, that we have held onto it. In spite of everything.

[dothelokimotion]

[ in spite of . . . recent events. his grip tightens. ]

I said I wouldn't let go.

[unkindled_madness]

You haven't.

And I... trust that you won't.

No matter what.

[ his voice is fervent. ]
