After deciding to do some snooping around Arcadia and dragging in Roy after his arrival, Jason and Roy both ended up knocked out, pulled out of Arcadia, and dropped off on an island off of Washington with a facility on it built to hold metahumans. Fun! Except they're both drowsy and depowered, stuck in cells, and aside from Jason's neural implant, they don't have a way to reach out to others from inside. But hey, at least the guards haven't seen their faces, so it could be worse.

There are two separate security hubs, one North and one South. The South one is currently empty; there is very minimal staffing throughout the facility given that it is still a work in progress and wasn't meant to be occupied yet. There are several small bots stationed throughout, as well as cameras covering nearly every square inch that are monitored by an AI. There are no cells that are visibly occupied by prisoners.

Through 616 Tony's snooping, they'll be able to pick out that the cells Jason and Roy are in are on the Northern side of the facility in opposite corners from each other, whereas there's also an occupied room on the Southern side--occupant unknown.

[ as he's been told many times, he's too flash, not subtle, etc etc. kyle has done undercover work, but he barely managed it for a week or so. it doesn't bother him. but not being involved sets his teeth on edge.

he doesn't want to be too late again.

with a deep breath, he brings the green lantern's power into being. a large godzilla, king kong, mothra and a few zoids appear and start attacking the security hubs. loud, eye-catching and distracting. ]

[ Trusting that Green Lantern will have the north side well in hand, Rook volunteered to investigate the south side of the prison. There is always the possibility that the maps were incorrectly marked, and this is a onetime opportunity to leave no stone unturned.

The schematics that Tony Stark uncovered layout were uploaded into his gear, should he need to check his location, and Tim is leaving his comm line open. Except for the initial decision to take part in this prison break, Tim is acting with extreme caution. Every turn, every door, is considered. He’s taking his time, listening for any signs of movement and checking for cameras and other sensors.

No one keeps metahuman prisoners just anywhere. He knows the security here will be tight.

This hallway dead ends at a T. Rook looks questioningly at his partner and gestures to indicate the left path. ]

[ let's have some fun and list some of the things roy harper (aka flamebird atm) did and did not expect to come out of his initially solo investigation into arcadia:

▪ he expected to do a ton of snooping.
▪ he did not expect to run into jason todd along the way.
▪ he expected to get some result from aforementioned snooping.
▪ he did not expect to get captured and thrown into prison.
▪ he expected to breakout — nonnegotiable.
▪ he did not expect his breakout to happen thanks to a tall metal man.

so like this is all pretty exciting stuff, right? everything he could have hoped for, right?? ]

This might be a little too late to bring up, but like... I'm not afraid of heights. [ he peers over his tin rescuer's shoulder down at the ocean below. ] I am afraid of falling though. You should really consider adding a safety belt feature to your back, if you're going to be giving away the front row seat to evil little robots. By the way, do you think I can have one of them?

[ Rook's provided everyone with an earpiece, if needed, or given them the information to break into the bat-channel without having to admit that Tony Stark can probably hack his network.

Everyone on me. I reached the third prisoner's cell. It's not a Kryptonian - it's Atomight.

[Nightwing's voice is low and thoughtful.]

It does. So much for guild membership being the path to avoiding a heavier government hand, if they're locking up political adversaries.

Unless we think that Atomight did something worse than be in Fantastic's way.

Do you think Fantastic would need more than that? A free Atomight might be a rally point for people to oppose him. Keeping him locked up and out of the public eye is a much stronger plan for him.

I may have a personal bias about Fantastic’s intelligence, but I also wouldn’t have thought he could get Atomight in a cell without help or Atomight’s consent. If Fantastic had that much power, everyone would know. He’d tell us.

Oh, I'm not saying it's HIS plan. This is likely somebody else's work. But it's a good plan FOR him.

Retinal scanner. Locks are significant, but not impossible. The door’s about 8 inches thick, judging from the window. Doesn’t explain how they’re keeping him in here.

( after being dragged out of the cell, thrown through a portal, and dropped off back in his own space, albeit a little bruised but no worse for wear--jason peels the domino mask off his face, drops it down onto the coffee table in front of the couch in the massive open space of his apartment.. floor. drops down onto the couch after it, one leg over the arm and the other with the heel of his boot pressing against hardwood floors. there's a bag of frozen peas in his hand, which he's raising up above his head, then dropping it straight down onto his face. his whole face.

most the bruising is from before his surprise island vacation, and the peas are less for the swelling around his nose, and more so he can pretend it's for the bruising. frozen vegetables over his eyes is a great way to block out all visual stimuli, and maybe if he pretends hard enough, no one else will be around. )

( it's muffled by peas, because jason isn't taking the bag off of his face. he recognizes kyle's voice enough to not need to look. and knows where the (currently uncovered and hooked up, because he's busy sulking) camera that points towards the couch is well enough to raise a hand and flip it off. )

[ he gives the camera a wink. he then comes over to where jason is recuperating, checking on the bag to see if everything's good. ]

( when jason jumps it's "reckless", when kyle does it's just kyle doing his lantern thing. rude. kyle comes closer, and jason shoves the bag up his face until it's just on his forehead before kyle can nab it. it's defrosting, but-- )

'm fine. They didn't hurt me, I started a fight before they caught me snooping on their blood sacrifice cult circles. So. ( even if he had been hurt, jason's still alive which means whatever it was wouldn't have kept him down long at all. he's too stubborn to let something as dumb as broken bones or internal bleeding keep him down. ) Don't fuss.
