With the Avengers here, I do need to . . . explain more of my past.

[ that memory had come to sephiroth a couple of months back and he's spoken of it from time to time. ]

While I was lost, I came upon Sanctuary. Thanos' domain. He . . . recruited me. It wasn't a painless process, though I suppose I suffered less than the others he had. A bargain was struck. I would go to Earth and make it my own and I'd give him the Infinity Stones.

And I take it the Avengers were the ones who felt compelled to stop you?

There were no Avengers at the time. They were simply a rag tag group of people. Directionless, without true motivation to fight back. Manipulating them is easy.

But eventually, they came together and defeated me. But not before I destroyed a city and brought an army to wreck havoc.

[Sephiroth nods.]

You've told me some of this. You were still angry about what had happened with Thor.

[dothelokimotion]

[ he nods slowly. ]

I was angry. I wanted a throne. I wanted to rule.

And if I failed . . .

...I'm sure Thanos made the consequences quite clear.

[And he did follow through with it, after all.]

Mm.

[ loki exhales softly. ]

At any rate, the Avengers are made up of these individuals. Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton and Bruce Banner. Barton was here, actually, at the same time I was. He left . . . early on.

But he isn't one of the ones who's arrived recently.

No. That would be Stark, Rogers and Romanoff.

[ and . . . vision, but loki doesn't know enough of the vision. ]

Stark still seems to hold something of a grudge.

[ loki waves this off. ]

I threw him out the window. He just feels emasculated.

[Sephiroth snorts.]

He did mention that specifically.

Hm. I'm not sure, actually. He's certainly much older than I remember.
